Sending Offers Bug, I've Figured It Out.

Over the course of the last 5 days I've had 12 or so offers that were sent out as $25 offers on my end, show up for the buyer as $2 offers.  I called eBay and they said they were aware of the problem and opened a ticket.  Meanwhile, it's still happening.  I just figured out the bug and wanted to share on the boards in case anyone else is having this issue.  It's a costly issue and is 100% eBay's problem.  Please see the screenshot below.  It only happens when using $25 for some reason.  When you put in $25 it shows up as $2 on the offer being sent.

I just called eBay and the rep told me they fixed the issue but this was just taken a minute ago so it is not fixed.

velvet@ebay  Oh gawd, I spoke too soon!  I am getting the bug too.  I just didn't notice it b/c it's only a tiny difference in my case.   I was just about to send an offer for $26.92 & it is changed to $26.90.  I see the last one I sent for this item was the same 😞   I always make sure to end my offers in the exact same amount, .92 so I can easily look down my SOLD list & see how many came from SENT OFFERS.

So, it is NOT only the $25.00 even.   I'll take a screen shot in case anyone wants to see the documentation.   I'll go ahead & sent the offer since it's only .02 different from what I intended to send.   I had noticed this the other day, but just figured I'd fat-fingered it, since it was so different than the $1 or $2 amounts that others had mentioned.

I have documentation Velvet, if they want it.

No worries @simply-the-best-for-you! I've followed up with them and provided your additional information and offer to help if they'd like it. I'll follow-up with this thread when I have news to share. Thank you again!

Re: Sending Offers Bug, I've Figured It Out.

The problem I have had with sending offers is that the buyer are being told that I don't ship to their area which is a load of garbage. I ship to almost everywhere in the world and certainly everywhere in the USA which is where I am getting these messages from. The thing is is that Ebay is broken. Can it be fixed? I don't know. Every time they change something is causes glitches in the code. They have changed the search engine and categories so that no one can find anything. When you do search you get many things that don't even relate to your search. I wonder if Ebay even reads these boards or cares about these problems?

This is August 8th and this is still a problem.  This is not fixed.  It has been going on for 4 weeks now, at least that is when my ticket was open.  I've called eBay and have been told it is still a site wide issue.

Yes.  It is still happening today 8/8.   What's the update Velvet?  It's crazy to have this bug out there for so long with no fix!

It's crazy how no one will address this.  I have provided the problem and have been able to reproduce it over and over and over again.  Yet, silence.  I guess this is how eBay is now.  Meanwhile, sellers are losing money, eBay is losing money, and buyers are unhappy due to this one glitch.  Seems like an easy fix.  Maybe we should start using reverse psychology when dealing with eBay?  Instead, eBay tech is spending time revamping "feedback flow" instead of addressing actual problems.

Re: Sending Offers Bug, I've Figured It Out.

My account is stilling having this issue. I sent a $128.00 offer last night to multiple watchers and EBAY sent the offer out as $12.00!!! I had to scramble to find the listing in 2400 active listings to END THE ITEM with watchers on it to avoid this COSTLY GLITCH. PLEASE ADD MY NAME TO THE TICKET. Thank You

Yes.  Very consistent for me too.  Easily reproducable.  I don't get it either.  They are wreaking havoc with the feedback flow debacle, instead of fixing known bugs.

The 'older than 90 day' ASQ bug is still happening daily too.  Saw someone yesterday on I think the Mentors board that was very confused by it & thought they had to do something to fix it.  I had to tell them it's been a known bug for months, if not a year, at this point.   I don't understand why these bugs take so long to get resolved, esp when they are widespread & easy to reproduce.  Having worked for a software company, this is not how you address bugs that are causing your user base problems.

Re: Sending Offers Bug, I've Figured It Out.

I don't understand the length of time to  fix........  perhaps just because of the number of "glitches" we've seen in the last wk (and how many more behind the scenes we don't know about.), their date book is overwhelmed.   Or someone quit who was the ONLY person that knew anything about this part of the program.    We used to say (theorize) that the lawyers wouldn't let ebay admit mistakes.....for fear of suits or having to reimburse people, but they sure don't seem to be in any hurry to fix this one.

Re: Sending Offers Bug, I've Figured It Out.

Good news! I checked in with them again and they said they're working on a fix and hope to have it rolled out in the next week or so.

In the meantime, there appears to be a trick to help keep this from happening, but it will mean going a bit more slowly. They said after you enter the offer, wait until you see the preview of the offer amount in green on the right side of the screen. Only after you see the preview, then click ‘Send offers’.

I've updated the ongoing tech post with this info as well. 😊

velvet@ebay  That "trick" doesn't keep it from happening.  Just means that if you notice it, you can stop yourself from sending the incorrect offer.  Which is what I've been doing for weeks.  But good to hear that a fix is on the way!  Thanks for the update!

Good news, this may be fixed!  The one I was having problems with, $26.92 turning into $26.90 seems to be working now.   @spreadlovelikefire  @ekmadonna  can you check on some of yours that were causing problems to see if it's working for you too?

Re: Sending Offers Bug, I've Figured It Out.

Keep in mind when a CS agent tells you they have submitted a ticket on something to be fixed, that is eBay speak to end the phone call.  I have submitted a large number of tickets over the 22.5+ years I've been on the platform and have never seen repair.  Current issue with my account is eBay is telling me my account info needs to be updated, same info I've had on file for years.  eBay has held my payouts for 12 days now agreeing that the info they see is complete.  I too am being told its being worked on.  Don't know that's true.  I do know I'm not the only Seller with this issue, most long term volume Sellers.  Just another tool eBay is using to run off good quality Sellers.  This platform is in major disarray.

Re: Sending Offers Bug, I've Figured It Out.

Very cool a two week fix to a money losing problem today.  Standard eBay answer to everything.  eBay makes 12.9% of the $2 sale Seller loses $23.  Is this, as you call them, work around in the announcements today, no.  Well it ever be in the announcements for other Seller to see, no.  That's the fair playing field Seller's are forced to accept.  I have a current issue due to eBay wanting me to update my account info which is currently correct.  Been working with the accounts CS for 12 days and they agree it is on eBays end.  In the mean time my payouts are on hold and since the account is flagged we go to the bottom of the page as far as searches go compounding the loss to my company.  Perhaps this has something to do with why eBay in the second quarter of this year loss 18% of its gross sales volume.  No its not the economy, in bad times people look to places like eBay to get a deal.  Just bad management.  Please tell me different.  You are currently damaging this 22.5+ year Seller.
