Ups and eBay just hit me for $1505 bill for a label. I already paid $150, that's what I was quoted and accurately put in the dimensions. I have photos of my dimensions. I will not pay the bogus fee becasue UPS claims my 67x42.5x5 box was 68x43x7. They charged me an extra $1350 for this. I've already told eBay I refuse to pay it , and have put my listings on permanent vacation . If it's not fixed I'm closing my eBay and going after both ups and eBay through court for destroying my "online business" I'm paying taxes on. I won't be able to afford to pay tax bills once I shut down nor can it currently function because the eBay account is -$1280 because this and refuse to sell my items for free or pay shipping costs out of my bank account.
So essentially their falsified dimensions and fees are forcing me to shut down. Both parties are at fault. Since I'm waiting on minimum 10 days for a case resolution I'm already losing over $1000 a week based on my 3 month average sales. Mind you I've paid both ups and eBay over 100k each the past 5 years in fees and shipping labels. This is my "Thanks".

Yeah a questionable 1/16" and they called it 7" instead of 6". If they called it 6" we wouldn't be talking right now. Also I've shipped out 400 mirrors in these boxes , and very rarely have they called them 6".

Does 1/16" round up?
Sometimes "camera angle" makes measurements look different.

A 1/16" is nothing. By any round up rule no 1/16" shouldn't round up, only over 7/16" should technically round up.. but if we are using scandalous rules 5 1/16" rounds up to 6" not 7".

also heres one I shipped in late December .. same box. I did make an error if was 30x38x5.. but I had 27" in there for some reason. For 3" they double charged me 100% and called the box 5" wide.

I agree.........

I have no knowledge of that. I was not questioning your measurements.

I got ya.. I'm just trying to explain myself. eBay refused photo proof and would only verbally dispute the charge, and honestly I don't have much faith in it being overturned.

No it does not @buyselljack2016 @stainlessenginecovers which was my point.
It's practically on the 5" line and that blip, which could be camera angle, wouldn't make a difference.
Even if rounded up to 6" the rate would have been the same, within max allowable dims and billed at 90 lbs.
But according to UPS:
"Round to the nearest whole number when taking your measurements. For example, 1 to 1.49 will be considered 1, and 1.5 to 1.99 will be considered 2."
Edit to clarify in case my point was not clear: 1/16" is irrelevant here.

Exactly. And if it's oversized like UPS is stating , you can't print out the label on eBay. Even at 6" it's within their limits. For some reason USPS envelope only comes up when it's oversized, not sure why eBay offers that or if it would even work, but FedEx or UPS are not available.

Knowing quite a bit about the USPS distribution plants and their operations, I would remind everyone that the human eye may see only 1/16th, whereas they use robots and lasers, especially for measuring as the packages fly by on the conveyors. Those two are not forgiving. If it's over, it will register over whether one foot or 1/32". I wish you luck!

Even if over 1/32" it is still counted as 5" per UPS guide which is why I've been saying all along it's 5" - I'm going by their guidelines.
For the sake of argument, even if they registered over and decided to increase it to 6", it still would not make a difference and there would be no cost adjustment.
The problem is UPS is trying to claim that 5" is 7" which is wrong.

"...here is a blow up clearly showing the line of the 5" is inside the blue tape (edge of box) and the line of the blue tape is 1/16th over."
You are missing the point. The rules with USPS (and as posted earlier with UPS) is to round measurements to the nearest inch. Clearly this is 5" and definitely not 7", so the OP should win this argument easily.
I used to always round up measurements as you are stating, until I was shown the actual rules. I always heard to round everything up and that's not correct. So if that is what you are still doing, you are probably losing money on postage unnecessarily.

Just to reinforce wastingtime101's post. UPS/FedEx round dimensions, they do not round them up. So anything from 5.000" to 5.499" is still 5". It would not round to 6" until 5.500 to 6.499". So OP's dimensions are correct at 67"x43"x5". The only exception to this rule is when carriers calculate the maximum oversize thresholds, which then uses exact unrounded dimensions.
Likely the package, as another poster stated, got twisted, distorting the dimensions or the package was incorrectly scanned, which does happen. The problem now is, because ebay is in the middle it becomes a difficult thing to correct.

Another reason to open and ONLY use your own personal account when buying UPS or Fedex shipping on ebay. It stops the nightmare of having ebay as a 'middleman' in rate discussions.

I have got several of these but have never got a explanation it just simply says, "special handling"
