Ups and eBay just hit me for $1505 bill for a label. I already paid $150, that's what I was quoted and accurately put in the dimensions. I have photos of my dimensions. I will not pay the bogus fee becasue UPS claims my 67x42.5x5 box was 68x43x7. They charged me an extra $1350 for this. I've already told eBay I refuse to pay it , and have put my listings on permanent vacation . If it's not fixed I'm closing my eBay and going after both ups and eBay through court for destroying my "online business" I'm paying taxes on. I won't be able to afford to pay tax bills once I shut down nor can it currently function because the eBay account is -$1280 because this and refuse to sell my items for free or pay shipping costs out of my bank account.
So essentially their falsified dimensions and fees are forcing me to shut down. Both parties are at fault. Since I'm waiting on minimum 10 days for a case resolution I'm already losing over $1000 a week based on my 3 month average sales. Mind you I've paid both ups and eBay over 100k each the past 5 years in fees and shipping labels. This is my "Thanks".

You obviously have a ton of experience shipping your items and know the ropes...
I have only 1 suggestion....if you want any chance of appealing and getting ebay to reverse the UPS error, I would not let the balance on your account go to collections......

I'm not selling anything else until this is taken care of. I'm not paying it. I did my job correctly , paid the quoted priced, delivered an $800 item early and in pristine condition. I'm not eating a $1500 shipping label.

After reading this post and the comments, I am so glad I am selling those itty-bitty things called coins. I wish you luck! Great bunch of help you got. Not that I could understand it all. I'm moving on......... I feel dizzy.

I hope you win your case, Those are some outrageous shipping charges!

When the label is purchased using eBay's UPS account @bashort , any cost adjustment disputes have to go through eBay. Seller will be wasting time if they try to contact UPS direct about this.

Do not buy UPS labels via ebay. I ALWAYS buy my ups labels through pirateship. Ebay is notorious for ripping people off on ups labels. Sorry theyve done this to you

I will say this, I learned some time ago both Fedex and UPS have a long list of charges they can apply post shipment... Years ago Fedex slapped me with one of those "fees" and it sent my otherwise reasonably priced parcel through the roof (thou not a thousand dollars, it was more like $50 to $100 but still)...
And I researched that list, I literally went down the list to see what it could be that I must avoid and reading on, and on, and on... I got scared, really scared, that list is so all-inclusive and if you ask me circular in nature (as in they can surcharge simply because they feel like it, basically) that I concluded Fedex could be a really truly evil shipper to deal with.
That was the last time I shipped with Fedex.
UPS is not much better.
It was also the last time I shipped something large that comes even close to the "limits."
It is the reason I stopped selling weedeaters on ebay, the length of the shaft and motor puts it really close to that long dimension and literally one inch more and it's over size... Don't play that.
Beyond that I have had to on occasion ship something with UPS (I avoid Fedex like they have Covid), but when I do that I buy my label through pirateship because yes, as others have mentioned, they're actually pretty good at defending those overcharges.
More than anything what really bites me is that ebay will NOT...
Read that again: Ebay categorically and absolutely will NOT help in these situations.
That is sad, and maybe they will help you but they sure never helped me.
It is my wish that you can get this situation resolved in your favor.

Yeah I've thought about it... Probably will if I'm allowed to sell again. I haven't had any major issues since 2020-21 with FedEx I had multiple items billed for $200 plus but got it squared away. Ups and FedEx got me on some this year they were a little off but I didn't fight them. I ate the $200-300 but I'm not doing this. Not at all.

Your calcs using 5" sides would be 163", but again- per your photo, should've been 6" sides??Check again @stainlessenginecovers - the photos are crisp and clear:
67 x 42.5 x 5
@wastingtime101 not sure what you are seeing and I agree, crystal clear that it is OVER 5". 40 Years in Construction here, I know a tape and dimensions very well.

but the OP's pictures clearly show that 'side' was over 5", so should've been 6,
@wastingtime101 That is clearly OVER- might be 1/32 or 1/16th of an inch, but it's Over.

It's "possible" but very unlikely.
It's also "possible" that the op really does owe $1346.94 but very unlikely.

Doesn't matter if it's 5 1/16 and they round it up to 6" because 7" is the measurement making it oversized. And it's " not a mistake " or a glitch, any human with a brain would not tack on a surcharge like this. I'm very offended and **bleep** about it , it's costing me money for second day in a row now and might even force me to leave eBay. Considering I've paid eBay and UPS well over 100k in each in the last 5 years, it's more concerning they'd risk throwing away this kind of revenue over an inch.

@wastingtime101 here is a blow up clearly showing the line of the 5" is inside the blue tape (edge of box) and the line of the blue tape is 1/16th over.
