Been using eBay for years and it now won’t update app because it says I need ios16 which I cannot get on my phone.

I have used eBay for years and now it wants an update my phone won’t do so do I just give up using eBay ? why do apps do this, it’s all a collaborated club to get us to buy newer phones marketplace on Facebook it is then from now on cheers eBay
