Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

Thank you for helping us catch those bugs! While we did work hard to make sure we caught any issues before we released the new changes to the Community, there might be some issues that we didn’t catch. If you find any issues, please post them only here. The Community team will be actively monitoring this post and we’ll work as fast as we can to get them resolved. No need to @ mention us, if you post here.

Be sure to include links to the pages, screenshots, which browser you’re using and other relevant information you can share.

Update as of 03/05: Thanks for your feedback! I'll be tracking updates here.

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

the "sort by" drop-down could use a "last commented on" option to resort the thread list with most recent activity on top

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

Prior to the changes, I would typically read through the list of new community posts on the community discussion page here:

https://community.ebay.com/

Previously posts were sorted by the time of the latest response rather than the original post, and the username and time and date was shown for each original post and the latest responder. As others have mentioned, this made it easy to see which topics have been responded to by a knowledgeable poster or by an eBay staff member, as opposed to threads that just have multiple "me too" responses and that have not really been answered yet. Showing the time of the latest response along with the date made it easy to tell if a thread was responded to since the last time the feed was checked.

The only options to sort the community discussion feed now are "most recent [original post]" "most viewed" "most helpful" or "most commented", most of which are very useful for responders. A more useful option would be "most recently responded to".

In addition, the discussion feed is now filled with eBay Motors App General posts of photos of vehicles. This was not present in the discussion feed prior to the changes, and the posts now appearing are much more frequent than the CBD spam posts ever were.

https://community.ebay.com/t5/General/bd-p/ebay_motors_app_general

Changes to the way posts are displayed has already cut down the number of posts that can be shown on a single page, but the inclusion of these extra posts in the feed further limits the utility of the page, and thus requires much more scrolling to get through the same number of actual posts, making it just that much harder to keep track of where things have been left off.

To try to get around these limitations, I have started to read more individual groups such as the Member to Member Support group. I notice that threads on that board do not have any time or date displayed at all, making it extremely difficult to keep track of which posts are new since the last time I checked the board:

Are you using a mobile device?

If I live to the year 2050, I still wouldn't download an ebay app to my phone.

Nope - latest Chrome on a laptop.

I'm with you on not downloading any ebay app.  Every one of these "upgrades" that I have seen ebay produce over the years is SO broken from the get-go, and takes forever to get bug free. Plus, if they don't want to address a concern, they don't. Just ignore the post. Yeah - not for me. I like my phone.

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

How do we see an accurate list of our recent posts? Whereas last week I could click on my profile, and under "Recent Posts" I could click "View All", and they would ALL be there, now there are only SOME. It's spotty. What will be the fix for that?

@eburtonlab  - under options I see "sort by latest post date" and "sort by topic start date".

Which one is showing in the option list changes when you click on it, but the issue seems to be that even though clicking seems to toggle which one is selected, it doesn't actually change the sort order on the page.

Hopefully sheila@ebay understands this is a technical problem (existing option not functioning) not a "feature request" and can get Khoros to fix it ASAP - I think that might at least help a little bit in trying to keep everything straight.

"OK- I see that info is there, but not if a reply is made to the OP.

It's super annoying that my profile settings to sort by latest post are completely ignored. All posts are sorted by the date the OP was created- not by the date of the last reply to a discussion.

Topics no longer jump to last unread post.

This is a disaster. Why did you guys not have some regulars test out the new format before releasing it?"

Because this is how eBay rolls these days, with everything that they do.

The whole not returning back to the last post read within a thread is just a complete time suck.

No "quotes" button?

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

I noticed that your pagination feature is rather odd.   For instance, how do we see page 8?   Using the back/forward arrows simply put you back to the top of the page next page, and one must scroll all the way back to the bottom to use the feature again. I guess one could eventually get to page 8, or simply quit because of the annoyance factor?

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

Have to really agree about the "take me to the last thing I read" automation being important......or at least put the page numbers at the top of the page..........having to scroll all the way down and then trying to figure where you last read something is a pain..........  On THIS thread particularly...........

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

Is there a way to communicate privately about this new board?  I ask because I have discovered a serious privacy / security issue and I do not want to post it publicly, for obvious reasons.  I truly hope it is not discovered by anyone else before it is fixed.

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

Minor annoyance - but why do some posts in the same thread show a mix of "Helpful" and "Kudoed"?

Isn't  "Kudo" an older, discontinued term?

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

I can no longer read through the threads because of eye strain, so I may be repeating what someone else said, my apologies if I am.

1. Poor design visuals. This really hurts my eyes. Too much white. And glaring colors, bright graphics on a white background. Remove the 2 eBay logos in the upper 3rd of the page.

2. Resize the top banner, who needs it that large anyway?

3. Different color blocks, maybe match the softer colors on seller hub...

4. Bring back the seller hub link(My eBay) on all the community forums pages.

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

Also, I gotta ask, why would anyone want to share a post from the eBay community boards to their social media? This isn’t r/dankmemes. And why is the share button so BIG?

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

I wanted to share my choice of screen colors.  I personally like softer, darker colors. 20210226_093440.jpg

Is there any reason why eBay can't design a platform with a personal option for a darker, and a lighter colored theme?

At least have someone 65 years old or older look at it in development before release.

@ferncliff-39 if you can share a link to some posts/threads with the Kudo term then we'll work on getting it changed. Thanks!

I hate to keep harping on this and I did get an answer from a very helpful fellow poster but wanted your official answer.

Will those of us using our IPHONES ever be able to quote again?

Is that something that is being worked on?

@tigercatt-16 we're working with Khoros on this one. We'd like it to be available no matter the screen size.
