I have been a seller on eBay for over 20 years and I am stating today that I will never use eBay again.
I guess I am a bit out of date because my last sale was about 2 years ago, when things were different.
My current sale of a Nikon camera had fees of 15%. Part of the fees were because my client was in another country, Viet Nam. Now, I did not know this when I accepted his offer but learned later when the fee was deducted from my sale price. Totally unfair. Further 12.5% in my opinion is outrageous and I was not aware the selling fee was that high when I listed. It should be stated when listing so the seller can choose to accept it or not.
So, a new adage, let the seller beware if on eBay.
Finally, I was not aware that they no longer used PayPal which gave instant payment. Now I must wait 5 days for my money. There are better ways to sell things.
Sorry eBay, a loyal customer is now gone. Plus, I intend to tell everyone I know about my experience.

Yes we do.

Again blaming Ebay as if the fee never existed before Ebay became the money processor. I'm not sure why it wasn't a big problem when PayPal charged the fee but only now since Ebay is charging it.

This is getting ridiculous. What I blamed eBay for is the current state of their platform. I clearly stated whether the fees are too much is subjective.
If you misread, fine. But if you want me to blame someone else for the current status of the platform...well OK. Whatever 🤣

More sellers are now taking note because they see the actual amount of fee's come out of the payment - before it was a monthly bill that I suppose most just assumed was always correct and paid accordingly without bothering to check the breakdowns.

"But one thing is certain, there should be a way we can disable the international sales if we want to. Among other things, the lack of control and poor implementation of this platform leave a lot to be desired."
Yet the same things weren't said when PayPal was the one imposing this fee on sellers. That is the only point I was making.
No I didn't misread, I quoted you above.

PayPal has nothing to do with whether or not we can choose to sell to international customers. They haven't been a part of eBay for 8 years and are not the current payment processor.
The gateway has been fully rebuilt and I am commenting on the status of it right now. It has changed in 8 years, you heard it here first.

Yes, I agree with you. But I have to say I get a laugh out from sellers with years and years of experience suddenly start complaining about FVFs on shipping. And their surprise to find out they have been paying it for over 11 years. I know, bad girl for laughing, but I just can't help myself.

You missed the point entirely. Time to move on.

False.
I responded to the OP and as usual you didn't read my message. You simply wanted to get the last word in. It's toxic. Read what I wrote, you think this platform doesn't need improvement?
Ok, just say that then instead of saying something which doesn't apply at all. Or don't respond to me, better yet. It's almost like trolling.

Why is 12.5% "outrageous"? Did you forget you no longer pay PayPal for their money processing fee? Did you do the math at all.
Our Fee at the time we had the 12.5 fee was a 10.20 FVF on Ebay and 2.9% from PP = 13.10%, so during this time you were SAVING 0.60%.
Now we are at 12.9%, which if you take away the PP fee we no longer pay at 2.9% leaves 10% FVF for Ebay.
So what is it that you are complaining about?
What are you on about??? My post asked the OP why he thought the current fees were outrageous even though they’re virtually identical to the old fees. I didn’t complain about anything.
Of course I did the math. I even showed the OP the math. That’s why 11 people marked my post as being helpful.

Your point is what? I explained it a bit differently than you did, which may help some to better understand.
FYI, you noted that PP charged currency fees, so does Ebay depending if the transaction qualifies for one. But if you are a US seller that is only listing on the US site, you should never incur a Currency Fee because Ebay only allows your listing to be paid with US currency.
Now often members confuse the Currency fee with the International fee. The two are NOT the same. If you have a buyer that is registered in another country, even if they have the item shipped to a US address, you will pay a 1.65% fee. That has NOTHING to do with currency and everything to do with where the buyer's account is registered.
Currency fees are about 4% or in that area. Both Ebay and PP charges it.
The international fee is also charged both by Ebay and PP. It is a fee that has been around for many years.

That is fine, I never said you were. I simply responded to a post you posted. Nothing more. It is what we do on threads. I'm sorry it caused you concern.
