Did you mean:

Is it just me...

Does it bother anyone else but me when I purchase an item from someone, they don't leave feedback for me?  I make it a point of leaving feedback either right after the buyer pays me, or I mail the item.  It's sort of like when I purchase something from, say, Walmart.  I always thank the cashier, or any other employee who assists me, and when I get a nod, or an "Uh huh", instead of a "Thank you" or a "You're welcome", it rubs me the wrong way.

Call me sensitive (some of you will *L*), but it's just a pet peeve of mine, being a gracious buyer AND seller.

Thoughts?

Re: Is it just me...

Since the money back guarantee was put into place, I feel feedback lost the last of its' importance.  It now seems old fashioned and behind the times.    The feedback you desire is even below the importance of the feedback given to sellers, since it can only be positive, it realllllly means nothing.   It's like a participation star we used to get in sunday school class.

BTW--I give the thank you star upon payment.

Re: Is it just me...

If I was into comics - I'd definitely buy from you. You have good prices - nice pics and a good description noting you are not an expert at grading. Honesty is a trait I value. Unfortunately - I have a container of comics that I one day have to go through - if the guys no longer want them - and list on Ebay. A daunting task that I don't look forward too - I hate listing period! but the sales make me happy!!!

Re: Is it just me...

Since May 2008 when feedback for buyers was eliminated, some of us have been explaining to sellers that feedback for buyers has no meaning except that the seller wants to do what the buyer wants; or, the seller wants to avoid displeasing the buyer; or, the seller wants to participate in helping to get more buyers to leave feedback for other sellers.

Still, there are many sellers who seem to think that feedback is so important that those sellers want to avoid giving a positive feedback to a buyer who may do something wrong in the future.

I see that you sell too and that you have the correct idea about feedback.  I agree that it is the LACK of feedback for the buyer that has a meaning sometimes.  And, many buyers dislike what the seller sometimes means by not leaving feedback.

Re: Is it just me...

Hi,

I always wonder why Feedback isn't left. I buy on one site and Always leave Feedback..

Sometimes, it's time consuming if you purchase a lot from the same seller.  But, I appreciate good sellers.

As I said I also sell on my other eBay site...I love getting Positive Feedback.

But, less than half of the people I sell to leave Feedback.

My daughter purchased a gift for my grandson from eBay. A seller from China.

It was an item I know nothing about....

So, all I did was ask her if she like it?  She said it was just what my grandson wanted.

I asked her if she left the seller POSITIVE FEEDBACK.

My daughter said.

"Oh no. I won't be back on eBay until his next birthday".

I explained how important FEEDBACK is to us sellers......

She knows how I work at selling (Jewelry Mostly).

But, her different perspective made me realize.....

Not every buyer cares about Feedback. I guess they're BUSY....

Until the next time they need to get a good deal on eBay.

She DID go back in and leave Positive Feedback to the seller.

I had to laugh.......

What An Effort!

Guess there are many people like that....TOO BUSY!

Re: Is it just me...

When positive/neutral/negative feedback was for sellers as well buyers, I absolutely cared.  Now I  merely use it as a shipping/fulfillment tool.  It really isn't good for anything else except an ego stroke, and my ego doesn't need stroking. Hahaha.

I do thank buyers for leaving feedback in the event that they catch me before I  notice their shipment has arrived, but that is more because it does especially help newbie sellers to gain their buyers confidence about sellers being legit.  Too bad that reality is far, far from that perception.  That's what I  mean about old habits.  My own archaic thoughts about how feedback used to function continue to skew my outlook on the value of feedback.

Open an account, buy a bunch of cheap items, all your sellers leave you nice feedback, then you can start scam selling with your pretty little 100% positive feedback score.  Utterly useless.

I'd be happy to go through them for you. Or, you know, take them off your hands... 😉

Re: Is it just me...

It's just you and a couple of other buyers who do not understand selling.

Don't take it personally. Some sellers here do not have time to reply in YOUR time frame to leave feedback.

I do mine once a week IF I HAVE THE  TIME.

Feedback is voluntary. And one of the most irritating things to sellers is buyers who are more worried about whether or not the seller leaves feedback, than receiving the item they ordered in the time that they are supposed to receive it. THAT is the point -Receiving the item you ordered, and it's not a popularity contest.

Re: Is it just me...

*LMAO* I understand selling better than most. I spent 20+ years in the hotel business, where it was part of the job to kiss a$$, and always with a smile, and a "please" and "thank you". So don't tell me I don't understand selling when I was doing it before Ebay was even the germ of a thought in someone's head.

Re: Is it just me...

Everyone has their opinions on this voluntary feedback. I would regular leave feedback  - very nice - personal feedback - not just a TY or Thanks come see us again - until a dreaded buyer who purchased 4 items from me - did a false SNAD claim for all 4 - and burned me - after I had left her 4 differerent personal feedbacks saying Fast payment - great buyer A++ - hassle free transaction ect...

Now I leave feedback after I know they are happy with the item or if unhappy - I can do whatever is in my power to please them.

Buyers who leave false positives and there are many because they fail to read listings, read measurements, or don't contact a seller first if there is a problem - don't deserve feedback - but again - that is my opinion.

All my buyers get feedback within 30 days when I have the time.

Re: Is it just me...

I feel the same way. I usually leave feedback as soon as I receive payment and I ship the item. Some buyers don't have the common courtesy to acknowledge if they receive the item and are either happy or unhappy with the transaction. I've been debating wether to wait until the buyer leaves feedback first before I give them feedback.

Re: Is it just me...

first: don't poke a sleeping bear...sometimes you don't really want them to think about it.

second: its voluntary...

third: if they get what they wanted and are happy, then your happy with the money..thank you!  if they are not happy and get mad and want a refund, you give back the money and maybe lose on it all, thank you.

my point: feedback...like a when you pray(if you do or don't, to whoever) BUT sometimes the answer is no answer. And that is perfectly good too, yes?

forth: see #1  and if you provided a good item, fast delivery, safe and sound...and made a buck...feedback enough... don't take offence, they just want the item and paid you....most feel that's simple enough...

Hey why do people tip the coffee person... I buy a coffee...and they put it in a cup and hand it to me...is that TIP worthy? and thank you is enough, and even with that my money is enough....ok a polite thank you is in order....but a Tip?

buyer feedback has always bugged sellers...but some do and some don't is probably the best way to think about it...like a Thank you.

Re: Is it just me...

"Some sellers here do not have time to reply in YOUR time frame to leave feedback.

A seller can leave feedback for 100 customers in 10 seconds.

I believe any seller  has time to spend 10 seconds to prevent a customer from becoming aggravated It is time well spent to avoid having a customer to be displeased.

Also, it takes less time to leave feedback for every customer at the time the seller prints the shipping label than leaving feedback later one-at-a-time.

And one of the most irritating things to sellers is buyers who are more worried about whether or not the seller leaves feedback, than receiving the item they ordered in the time that they are supposed to receive it.

I have good news for those sellers.  Since May 2008, I have never heard of a  buyer who was more worried about whether or not the seller leaves feedback than receiving the item they ordered in the time that they are supposed to receive it. And, I have been reading the discussion boards regularly.

I agree.

But, of course those are the kind of buyers a seller would want to be SURE  to leave feedback for as quickly as possible.  Those unreasonable buyers would be the most likely to leave neutral feedback or give lower ratings on the DSR's if they were  aggravated because the seller did not leave feedback.
