Does it bother anyone else but me when I purchase an item from someone, they don't leave feedback for me? I make it a point of leaving feedback either right after the buyer pays me, or I mail the item. It's sort of like when I purchase something from, say, Walmart. I always thank the cashier, or any other employee who assists me, and when I get a nod, or an "Uh huh", instead of a "Thank you" or a "You're welcome", it rubs me the wrong way.
Call me sensitive (some of you will *L*), but it's just a pet peeve of mine, being a gracious buyer AND seller.
Thoughts?

Feedback is optional and nobody is required to leave it. Sometimes I wish Ebay just do away with it, then again I do like being able to see the feedback buyers leave.

Actually, I don't particularly care if a buyer leaves feedback or not. I'm more interested in their money than any type of good wishes they may impart. Of course, bad feedback is something of a different matter, but if they choose not to leave feedback, I've no problem with it. As long as they pay in a reasonably timely manner and voice no complaints about the item or the service why should I care about them not leaving feedback?

It's simply incredible that this is still talked about so much. ![]()

Since feedback for a buyer is pretty much just an attaboy, I usually leave it once the buyer has let me know that he is satisfied with the item by either send me a message or leaving feedback. If he does neither, neither do I.
I usually leave feedback for a seller after I get the item and verify it is as described. If the seller wants to leave feedback, fine. If not, that's fine too. When it comes to bad feedback, a seller would have to be pretty bad for me to leave it.

I see nothing wrong with saying, "Attaboy for choosing me for a seller" in the feedback if the buyer likes that kind of statement.
But, some buyers did not seem to appreciate it when it was left for them, so I avoid praising a buyer for knowing how to type and use the computer.
I think some sellers who do not leave feedback until the buyer leaves feedback assume that when a person does not leave feedback, the person prefers to not receive feedback. The only thing I don't like about that is if a buyer feels the same way as the seller, no feedback would ever be left by anyone.

There have been numerous posts similar to yours. You expect others to treat you well, the way you'd like to be treated. On ebay, that is not the case at all. Not all people have the same mannerisms.
Feedback is optioanl, neither the seller or buyer is not required to leave any.![]()

As I said, I expect nothing from someone who buys an item from me, though it's nice to receive the feedback. It's when I'm the buyer, and the seller doesn't leave feedback, that annoys me.
Op, while I disagree with your thoughts you have shown how gracious you are by comming back & responding to the answers you have received on this subject...many don't.
In addition you have made a certain poster a very happy camper by posting a NEW pheedback thread.
You have succesfully Released the Kraken!

I can't remember when I last looked at the feedback page for my buying account. Actually I don't really have even an estimate of the current number.
No matter, there are obviously plenty of people who are obesssed to a degree with their feedback numbers.

I have left feedback for every transaction conducted here. As a seller I track all packages shipped and leave feedback as soon as it hits the porch, po box, front desk, mailbox or inside carport. It's there, I'm good. Buyer can do whatever, and I move on, hoping to never hear from them until they buy another listing, or make another bid.
Yes, positive feedback left for me still elicits a thrill, but who cares? Old habits and expectations die hard. Don't let feedback rule anything.

I don't shop for and buy feedback on EBay; I buy items. Those are far more worthy of my time and concern than meaningless ego-boos.
