Help with false return request

A buyer bought my item on a buy it now with immediate payment. Shortly after, they requested a cancellation, saying they found it cheaper. I denied the cancel request since that is not a legitimate reason for cancellation. They should shop for the best price before they buy. I shipped the item and now 30 days later, they are requesting a return, saying my photos and description were inaccurate, which is untrue. I am denying the request and told them why. I have a no return policy on my auctions unless there is a legitimate problem. She has admitted she is requesting the return just because she had found one cheaper back when she first bid and because I denied the cancellation. I feel like ebay is going to put the refund through and I will have to lose $20 in shipping fees for the return postage and initial postage. Is there anything to do, since she is going against ebay policy or do I just have to lose the money?

Actually, finding a better price is eBay policy. You are fortunate, this time, that eBay paid for your mistake.

Perhaps you should learn eBay policy?

The buyer has been reported for violating policy and blocked from bidding from me again.

Instead, it was you @gifts14 that violated eBay policy. You knew that in your heart, when you proceeded to force a negative comment with a positive feedback for the buyer.

If you keep doing that, you may not be here on eBay for much longer.

Sorry but you would have been better off canceling when she asked.

When a buyer is requests a cancellation before you've shipped, it's to your benefit to just cancel and block them from buying from you again. This is what happens when you play hardball.

Absolutely nothing you can do to stop the process now, and it is not against eBay policy to file a chargeback.

If a buyer cancels prior to shipping what could possibly make it a good idea to send the unwanted item anyway.

Because you  p***ed the buyer off, he went directly to his CCC most likely knowing you would be hit with another $20

Don't be greedy., lesson learned.  Just accept the return because you don't have good customer service to begin with.  Next time, cancel the order if you haven't shipped even if the buyer is being troublesome to your product by claiming they found it cheaper, it won't be your first  You can also report the buyer if they went through with a purchase, but want to cancel right after.  Lastly, block the buyer, re-post the item.  As for your $20 in fees, this is the cost to learn; therefore, it is worth it now.

Wow, just wow!  Why on Earth would you not cancel something that hadn't been shipped out?  Now not only do you have to pay for return shipping and original shipping (lets hope you get it back in one piece) but they also left a negative feedback which was totally warranted.  A buyer cancelling items is very common.  How many times when you are shopping in a store do you put something in your cart and then put it back?  Or you purchase something and then go directly to the service desk because you changed your mind?

"Is there anything to do, since she is going against ebay policy or do I just have to lose the money?"

The buyer is not doing anything against eBay policy.  If you had cancelled when the buyer asked to cancel, you would not be here right now.

Just chalk it up to a lesson in online sales. Better luck next time. Hang in there and develop some better customer service skills. Hardball ain't always the correct game to play.

I always tell them, "I will cancel at your request, no problem, stop back anytime"

More reasonable sellers like you need to be on ebay. Just got dinged on a 650 purchase. Had to buy because seller would not refund before item was shipped. Seller Wanted me to pay 80 to retract sale. went ahead believing i might get authentic brand. It wasn't.  Ebay said I can't return and sided with bait and switcher because of product was opened (had to for inspecting)

End result- i took the $300 loss but left a nasty but truthful review calling them fraud and scammers.  hope whoever reads isn't going to buy. Hardball Seller wins this one and ebay keeps their cut, but hopefully seller/ebay loses on of future sales.

I expect if that type of doll was opened, Ebay presumed it was used.

Help with false return request

This platform offers a money back guarantee to all buyers. Your own no returns policy is superseded by eBay’s return policy in the TOS. Once the buyer selects Item Not As Described you will have to pay for the return shipping or eBay will deduct it from your account, regardless of what you stated in your own listing. It happens; it's a part of selling online.

Add to that, they told you BEFORE you'd even shipped the item. You chose to stick to your guns and here's where you find yourself. Sorry but you are out of options at this point. Had you handled this correctly you wouldn't have been out money because a cancellation due to buyer's request would have refunded your fees. Best of luck to you....

I find it funny that you keep mentioning the buyer going against eBay policy and then you leave a positive feedback with negative wording for the buyer which is guess what?? Breaking eBay policy.

Next time if a buyer asks to cancel before you have shipped the item just do it.

Help with false return request

Actually, they did violate ebay policy. Finding a better price after bidding is not a valid reason for cancellation or return. They lied about the return reason, saying it that my description and photos were not accurate. Ebay actually found I was in the right, and did not give me a ding or make me process the return. I have learned a lesson though, in that the buyers will try to lie about it. I am now offering returns with the buyer to pay return shipping. The buyer has been reported for violating policy and blocked from bidding from me again.

Ebay actually found in my favor. Cancellation due to price is in violation of ebay's policies. I am now offering returns with the buyer paying return shipping. Hopefully, this will prevent future returns due to buyers remorse, on my dime.

Help with false return request

Ebay found in my favor. I was following ebay policy. If people cancelled due to price, it wouldn't be an auction site. Cancellation due to price is not a legitimate reason to cancel, per ebay policies. I have changed my return policy, however, and will accept returns if the buyer pays return shipping.
