I have an issue I need help with.  One of my eBay buyers opened a return for two items that they purchased together.  As I was creating a label the Buyers account was suspended by eBay and I could not upload my single return label.  I don't know the reason for the suspension.   I was told by Anchor Support that I should do nothing and the return will time out with no negative effects on my account.   Three days later eBay bot generates TWO USPS labels and emails the labels to the now-suspended customer.   The customer has now shipped back the items and they are due to be delivered today.    How is a return being facilitated by eBay for a seller who has been suspended?      John Norman Max Optical

Hi @maxoptical - this isn't something that should typically occur but could be possible based mainly on timing (for instance, a return being accepted and the label time line passing prior to the suspension being placed, or coincidentally at the same time, etc).

In this particular situation I recommend reviewing the items that you receive back and issue a refund if appropriate. As the member is suspended the opened return should not count against any of your metrics. If there are any issues with the return please contact CS for more assistance!

We have a serious problem with USPS pick up.  For this reason we put 3 days handling time. Why eBay didn't account for this and promise delivery of First Class mail on very next day after our shipping day? How we can get this situation to be fixed? Thanks.

Also when will eBay have more phone support for Managed Payments?

@gwzcomps the team is aware of the longer than usual wait times and are working to address this. Thanks for your patience!

Changed my mind don't bother getting more MP support.  They couldn't give me any resolution and the call was a waste of time.

  • The reports are missing information I need for taxes.
  • The verbiage is confusing on the summary page
  • The report downloads don't work properly on Firefox despite eBay listing Firefox as a supported browser.

Honestly with eBay's inability to get anything right I just need to focus on liquidating my business and preparing to sell on other sites.  eBay is clearly not capable of running their site...

I wanted to ask last wk..........why does it matter in what order dimensions are?  You multiply them together to get the total cubic inches?

The order does not matter for a volume calculation, as you said, but it does matter for a girth calculation. The algorithms are completely different (LxWxH vs. L+W+W+H+H).

The Shipping form is somehow coming up with the Height value in its Length field and the Length value in its Height field. This can be verified by using the Inspect function of the Google Chrome browser (or your browser's equivalent function).

User Agreement policy says:
The entity you are contracting with is: eBay Inc., 2025 Hamilton Ave., San Jose, CA 95125, if you reside in the United States; eBay (UK) Limited, 1 More London Place, London, SE1 2AF, United Kingdom, if you reside in the United Kingdom; eBay GmbH, Albert-Einstein-Ring 2-6, 14532 Kleinmachnow, Germany, if you reside outside the United Kingdom but within the European Union; eBay Canada Limited, 500 King Street West, Suite 200, Toronto, ON M5V 1L9, Canada, if you reside in Canada; eBay Singapore Services Pte Ltd., 10 Collyer Quay, #10-01 Ocean Financial Centre, Singapore 049315, if you reside in India; and eBay Marketplaces GmbH, Helvetiastrasse 15/17, 3005, Bern, Switzerland, if you reside in any other country. In this User Agreement, these entities are individually and collectively referred to as "eBay," "we," or "us."

But is it really true? If the user live in country that have eBay site it will be OK. But if the user is from country that doesn't have eBay site, it will be contracting with eBay San Jose if it will register on eBay.com, with eBay London, if it will register on eBay.co.uk and eBay Albert-Einstein if will register on European ebay sites. Am I wrong?

You can't. Despite countless angered sellers, eBay uses your historical handling time and completely disregards the input you actually provide.

and please let me add to my above question, let's say I didn't google the address and I shipped it to the fraudulent address, what happens then?

@slowturtlesrun as long as you ship it to the address provided by the buyer at checkout then you are protected from Item Not Received cases if tracking shows delivered. If tracking shows that the address isn't valid then you would also be protected as long as you used the address the buyer provided at checkout.

You'll find more details about seller protections related to your questions here.

I'm fine with the way this transaction ended, just a little surprised, and trying to understand what exactly happened here: ( I'm making up some of the numbers, don't recall exact amounts) Buyer made an offer of $9.00, I declined, buyer made another offer, of $10.00 I countered with $12.95, buyer countered my counter-offer with $11.50, and I declined his $11.50 counteroffer. I figured that would be the end of it, but he came back the next day and bought the item at my counter offer price. Now, I would have thought once he had countered my $12.95, with his $11.50, which I declined, that would have cancelled out my $12.95 counter. So, just trying to understand.

If he had declined my $12.95 counter, that would have been the end of it, right? But since he countered, even though I declined his counter, he could go back to my original counter-offer and accept it?

Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques - oh this is a great question! I had to do some digging because this totally stumped me, but here's what I've been able to find:

A counteroffer from seller to buyer is good for 48 hours, and Buyer/Seller counteroffers operate independently of one another. It's essentially designed to allow you to deny a buyer's counter while still leaving your offer on the table for the full 48. Once expired, your counteroffer is considered 'declined' and is inaccessible to the buyer.

Thanks again for this question, I learned something today! 🙂

I'm right there with you. I've been watching for months in the shadows, occasionally chiming in. I have 2000-3000 unique listings ready to start posting for trading cards. I don't accept the current seller policies and unreasonable expectations. eBay is too stubborn chasing short term profits to realize the damage they are causing to their own platform as far as sellers and reputation go.

Of course, I would not know of any other address other than the address provided by the buyer after they agree to purchases and has yet to pay. What happened to me is I believe because I am a new seller the fraud buyer thought I was naïve and could get passed me.

If they have not paid, all this is a mute point. Open an unpaid item dispute.

Re: Community Chat, September 30 @ 1:00 pm PT - General Topics

I am well aware and do know 'rural folks' have the ability to purchase on eBay and that is most certainly not what I said nor was I questioning  a 'rural folks' address.

In fact I never said "rural folks".  You did.

You used the distorted term of 'rural folks'.

I did say when I looked up the address it was a  'rural road'.

I said 'rural road' and that is the accurate description of what I saw.

And with the term I used of 'rural road' it literally was a open field without a building. My use of 'rural road' was to impart the description, again, that there was no building of any sort.

Someone (or more) in the IT department needs to be replaced.

I get an offer on a listing.

I accept.

It shows that I can then send an invoice.

When I click on that, this appears.

Why 2.jpg

OK, I'm smart enough to click on the here

Scroll down on the invoice, and see this. The account is in MP, so I don't get payments via PP, and the email displayed is not even associated with my PP anyway.

Oh well, another day in paradise.

Thanks Tyler, that's pretty much what I figured had happened, but just wanted to get it confirmed. Frankly, I'm fine with the way that works, but I just never realized it before. Now, if we can just get immediate payment when a buyer accepts our offer or counter-offer.......Coming soon, I hope, I hope, I hope.....

Brian,

The problem is the return is now locked on the seller hub stating "waiting for the buyer's response" and I no longer have the ability to upload a tracking number to the return.

An item sold prior to your activation in managed payments should refund from PayPal.
