Estimated delivery dates take into account your historical shipping behavior to provide a more accurate delivery estimate - if you say you take 5 business days to ship out orders but you almost always ship out within 2 days, then this will impact the estimated delivery date shown to your buyers. If you say you take 5 business days to ship out orders and you regularly take 5 business days to ship out your orders, then this will be regularly included in the calculations for delivery estimates shown to your buyers.

This doesn't mean we won't look into the examples that have been provided, I just wanted to provide some context as to how we work to provide accurate shipping estimates for our buyers and how that may not be calculated in the way you expect.

Sellers have provided more than ample examples that this is simply not true right now.  To keep telling us that this is the case is a slap in the face.  It's irritating and insulting.  The system is providing incorrect and unrealistic estimates.  Period.  Ebay needs to take responsibility for this and protect sellers in a proactive manner, not require the seller to call and beg for assistance.  Period.  It affects our bottom line when buyers are allowed to return items that don't arrive based on incorrect and/or unrealistic dates.

In case you haven't noticed we are in "unprecedented times" so maybe eBay should be re-thinking the use of "historical" data that is not relevant to the situation the government has created.  USPS is not meeting their own estimates much less eBay's ridiculous ones.

eBay needs to step up and provide better estimates that set realistic dates for both buyers AND sellers.

You need to use Door to Door Rate tables to get the correct estimated delivery time.  I have spent weeks on this and it is the only way it works.  The new issue is customer sees 1 day delivery and then after they buy eBay adds 3 more days onto the delivery date.  Very frustrating for the buyers.

Hi @gwzcompsas we discussed last week, the eBay Guaranteed Delivery date would not place any additional responsibility on your part - a seller is always responsible for late delivery, and Fast N' Free is shown when the the delivery date falls within the time frame for that program. While I understand you are concerned that the estimated delivery dates themselves are not correct, I must stress that your listings showing Fast N' Free is separate from the concerns you have about the delivery dates provided to the buyer and this program only serves to benefit you by providing additional protections. Without this being shown in your listings, you would still be expected to accept a return for an item that was delivered late if your buyer wanted to return the item, and you would be responsible for a full refund along with covering the cost of return shipping.

I guess I am confused on what you are trying to say.  I am responsible for late delivery, but those are YOUR delivery dates not mine.  I guess I can up my handling to 10 days again and get no sales to solve this.  These games only hurt eBay in the long run.  I'm not going to let your childish games cost me money.  I can sell the stuff elsewhere.  I just want to set reasonable expectations with my buyers and not have eBay jeopardize my business by manipulating my handling and delivery times.

Hi @gwzcomps, what I'm trying to stress is that the Fast N' Free banner in your listings that appears when an item qualifies for the eBay Guaranteed Delivery program is unrelated to the concerns you've raised about estimated delivery dates. You've made some comments that indicate you feel this program places additional expectations or responsibility on you as a seller, and I just want to make sure it is clear that this program does not determine your estimated delivery date, and it does not set any additional expectations for you as a seller.

The concerns you have with estimated delivery dates being unreasonable or inaccurate is something I have reported with the examples you and others have provided to me recently. I provided some context previously to explain how your stated handling time is not the only factor involved in calculating the estimated delivery date, but this doesn't mean we don't have room for improvement or an issue to resolve.

To summarize: the Fast N' Free banner from the eBay Guaranteed Delivery program does not determine your estimated delivery date and only provides you with additional protection, not additional expectations, and we will continue to review the estimated delivery date examples you've provided to determine if there are adjustments that need to be made.

Is there a team or manager at ebay that works with the carriers?  Is there a manager or a team that looks into these issues?  (Estimated delivery, delays, changes with carriers?)

@golfingaddict we do have dedicated people that work with shipping carriers and are in communication with them.

We received your email with examples of shipping delays mentioned in post 24 of this chat, but haven't reviewed it yet. Once reviewed we can send examples and concerns to the shipping team for further review. If changes are warranted then they'll work to implement them on our site.

Brian helped me out last week to get a defect removed where I tried to send a refund but eBay's site was giving me an error. Brian said "if you run into a problem issuing a refund then it's best to contact customer service for help. You can go to this page and select 'Have us call you' at the very bottom"

I agree completely, but there was no link in his response and no "have us call you" on this page.

How can I contact a live person at eBay if this happens again???

@bouncemobiletech if you need help with a return then go here and select 'Have us call you' at the bottom of the page.

Those 13 ebay categories are called "Fashion and Collectibles" by ebay, a term I have repeatedly asked eBay to change, since many sellers take it to mean only two ebay categories, Clothing and Collectibles. eBay should NEVER use that term without including a clear reference to the 13 categories.

Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques - thanks for the context on this! I can see what you mean - the pages are talking about the 'umbrella categories' rather than listing all the specific categories you and I are more familiar with. I'll get that shared and keep my fingers crossed things can be more specific in the near future.

Do you have any other suggestions to deal with these postal issues?  I change my handling time and you give buyers unreasonable expectations to deliver before I'm expected to ship.   I'm just frazzled trying to work with ebay's rules and metrics and dashboard and seller status stuff when I'm just working as hard as I can.

Hi @golfingaddict, we are looking into these concerns and will update if possible or let you know if we need anything else.

Hi @dtexley3, as I mentioned in the post you quoted, this is something we will look into to see if there is a need for adjustments. I wanted to add that we've added additional time to delivery estimates in response to the global pandemic and related shipping delays.
