eBay search results are now displaying the generic word 'Seller' instead of the specific Seller IDs

Hello,

Starting from today ebay Search Results no longer showing Seller ID, only generic word "Seller". Is it a technical issue or intentional change? Is it a technical issue or intentional change?

Thank you.

MY SELLER NAME ON MY LISTINGS IS PART OF MY STORE.  DO WE GET A REDUCED PRICE NOW?

I saw a bad drop also, from average of $800-900 to between $500-600 now. Tried restarting my coupons and discount promotions, and they still won's show on the main search.

Yes I can because since this started my sales have been cut in half wit the account the test is on. You cannot see the sales (in red buy 4 get 1 free) any longer. You do not go from 1k a day, average $800.00 a day to maybe I will hit $250 today and barely hit $500 on the days it has been run. @valueaddedresource suggests contacting the FTC. This selective "test" seems to be affecting your income. The people at eBay who called for this "test" are not losing any money though. Here's the link to her comment: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Report-eBay-Technical-Issues/eBay-search-results-are-now-displaying-th...

Something I don't understand is why eBay does all of their weird tests on the live site rather than in a testing environment. A testing environment is the norm for any large corporation (even the small community college I used to work for). Testing bleep live, especially when it involves real money, is, imo, an unethical business practice. There's no recourse either!

Because it only became a "test" once people complained. Had the feedback been positive, it would have been "launch of an innovative groundbreaking new feature."

I know you probably can't say but I'm at a loss trying to think of any possible reason for hiding seller names. Any chance of a hint?

The only reason that I can think of, is that this is one of several changes that are being compared. Basically, they included a really useless, horrible change so that the other possibility they actually want to implement will look good by comparison.

Basically, this is to act as the "control group" in a completely invalid statistical comparison.

They should still test it in a dev or testing environment before rolling it out onto the live site.

I thought the CEO and others up high were tech gurus. Is that not the case? Or are they tech gurus but have no say in what gets rolled out? Who's actually flying the plane?

I want my sale buy 4 get 1 free to show back up! I want my sales back!!! I pay for my store, I run promotions I want my tools that I use to get more sales to work that they are intended to. You are stealing my abilities to build a brand and to get more sales.

This "test" is now in its 4th day. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Every single result I saw also had the "shop with confidence" tag line (I went as deep as page 15 with 60 per page results) even ones like this that don't exactly inspire confidence with that price and 0 feedback and every possible sort option (Best Match, Price + Shipping etc) also still displays this way.

devon@ebay  kyle@ebay  elizabeth@ebay  is this a test/slow rollout that is working as intended or a technical issue?

Hey @valueaddedresource! This is a known sitewide issue and our Tech team is working on a fix. There is an open ticket under ALERT15350. We will let you and others know once it has been resolved.

EDIT: @valueaddedresource I just heard back from the Product team and this is a test that is currently being ran.

The Ebay for Business Facebook team told a seller there that asked about this that it was a situation that needs resolved and they could add their name to the ticket.

So which is it .... a situation that needs resolved or a test? Or does nobody know whats going on so you just make up stuff ??

Normally with ebay, every one we get to talk to has a different answer. It's not their fault, ebay is not very good with their communications dept. Sometimes it feels like the reps are in the dark as much as us sellers are.

Since this started I have not had a day over $600 day when my average per day before this was about $850. What a mess. I thought the last 2 years were bad with all the server failure and glitches yet it just seems to keep getting worse.

In response to the eBay mess I just quit buying again. My preferences say INCLUDE seller IDs and even when they are present, I usually click only sellers above 99% positive feedback on the first look. Without seller IDs listed I just go away and look at no one's individual listing. Hence, no BUYING. I thought moving product is what eBay is supposed to help sellers do! The last time I disagreed with eBay this seriously I did NOT BUY anything again for 10 months.  Happy selling to someone else.

To anybody seeing this @etonishar @valueaddedresource I suggest using the "tell us what you think" link or "?" icon or however it's displaying on the page you're viewing and filling out the feedback survey letting eBay know how bad this is.

@wastingtime101 good call and I will definitely be providing them feedback. Like you, I would curtail my browsing and buying on this site if this becomes a permanent change.

I have a mental image of someone who never actually uses the site thinking this is a great idea because it will increase click throughs but...I don't think that will actually work out for them. 😂

@valueaddedresource

Totally defeats the purpose of the previous pushed use filters for searching for both location and item specifics. I agree. Intent to cause more click thru's and items being sold that are promoted as an endgame.
