eBay search results are now displaying the generic word 'Seller' instead of the specific Seller IDs

Hello,

Starting from today ebay Search Results no longer showing Seller ID, only generic word "Seller". Is it a technical issue or intentional change? Is it a technical issue or intentional change?

Thank you.

It is also INACCURATE. This listing in search output says 0% positive feedback for seller, but if one goes to the listing they actually are 99.5% positive.

@transamcc

Last week when I was on my page I saw 0 feedbacks for myself and link to store (tiny icon) wasn't functioning but other store links in other places were. At the time I was not aware of this kerfuffle with names MIA. Just another changing stuff for no really good reason and not being honest and up front about it. Maybe the goal is to make buyers and sellers completely invisible  from each other.....AT ALL TIMES!!! Similar to when you couldn't see, as a seller what kinds of items buyers were buying directly connected to feedback they left for it. Just any associated verbiage feedback.

Deleting cookies nor any other suggestion worked for me but using Microsoft Edge brought them immediately back. Definitely something eBay will have to fix in the back end. That will depend on whether or not they have someone who actually knows HOW to read code and correct the errors...... and I hate MS Edge - it's nothing more than Bill Gates' spy machine... I'll get used to not seeing seller names about the time someone fixes it 😉

If you are using Chrome, follow the instructions at the following link to install and then update the User-Agent Switcher extension:

https://ujesh.com/user-agent-switcher-chrome-extension/

Once installed, select OpenAI > ChatGPT-User.

That will bring back the seller IDs and other information when browsing/searching eBay.

I wouldn't use that user-agent for everything you browse though, as it is a bit wonky and some sites deliberately block it.

I don't think the average Ebay buyer is going to be going through all that work to display Ebay seller's usernames.

Could someone please at ebay tell all of us sellers what is really going on here?

This has been going on for nearly a week without any news as to what the test is for, what the end goal is, how long will it last, whether it is permanent etc.

Please help improve transparency by communicating with the sellers.

This is not only affecting affecting sellers, it is affecting buyers as well.

I agree. The disappearance of seller names from search results poses an existential threat to many of eBay's active buyers and sellers. It seems unfair on part of eBay to keep their own loyal customers uninformed for more than a week. Could an eBay representative please provide the seller community with an update on the current situation? We earnestly seek transparency on this issue.

Everyone who is annoyed with this ridiculous "TEST" ebay is doing, please keep reporting to ebay from "Tell us what you think " link on search result page. Also, call ebay and let the rep know your frustrations. More people complains, hopefully ebay starts to listen. This worst change is not benefiting sellers or buyers.

I just called ebay this morning and the rep said IT department is well aware of the issue and they are working on it right now. She said both seller's location and seller's ID name should show up when it is resolved. I hope they fix it soon so that US sellers who are shipping from US (I am pretty sure this is majority of sellers on ebay) will have advantages over those people who are selling outside of US (Buyers can get their ordered goods quicker than one shipped from overseas. AND buyers can see the seller's location on the search results instead of clicking every single listing.).

devon@ebay  support is still telling people this is a technical issue not a test. As I said in another thread, I'm assuming that is likely because they are working off of the same info you originally received from the Tech Team and have not received the updated info you later received from the Product Team.

Having different answers being given out like this only makes an already terribly communicated situation even worse, and seriously erodes trust and credibility in the platform.

Please escalate this issue internally so that frontline support has the correct info you have provided here or, if for some reason your update about it being a test isn't really correct, please advise ASAP.

If you use the lock icon to the left of your browser's address bar while on ebay.com to clear just your eBay cookie and site data, you may be able to avoid having to sign in to all your other accounts aside from eBay. If that does not work, restart your browser and try again.

Approximately 2 weeks ago on ca using a pc the links for checking out a store and sellers items were inactive. If you checked the same links via dot com links worked as they should.  It got fixed with some pushing. But there was an affect on sales and traffic. Back at end of of April Visit Store button was a reported issue on both sites. Now this kerfuffle. Bad programming, tinkering under the hood or what? Hard to know. All I do know is all this downtime is not doing anything for buyers and sellers confidence in the platform.

As a side, if this a technical issue as reported above it does not show on the current list of known issues along with historical data of issues resolved with their dates completed. Makes it hard to know if something was completely fixed or not!!!

For whomever is having issues with the seller ID not showing up - I have tested it on a newer computer with Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge as well as my older Windows 7 computer but with Firefox. And everything is ok. I am wondering if the latest ebay seller update is incompatible with versions of Chrome that are outdated. I can no longer update Chrome on Windows 7.
Please let me know if you can make it work with newer Windows versions (at least Windows 10) or a different browser.

However, it still would not explain why the reps are saying it is a technical issue and the product team is saying it is a test. It really would be nice to know.

Newest (fully updated) Chrome on Windows 11, on multiple PCs. Cannot get seller IDs to appear. Cache and Cookies cleared on all, and obviously logout-login. Only way around it was to install user-agent spoofing extension and set to either Xbox or ChatGPT. No Chrome, Mozilla, Edge, or Opera user agent will work (for me).

Updated Chrome on Mac and cleared cache of 24 hours back did it for me. I signed back on and now seller ID and seller's location (if seller is not in US) are showing now.
