After a heated confrontation with my postmaster today about why the USPS is trying to destroy my business with record delays and missing packages, he finally offered an explanation that wasn't the usual excuse or denial. I've been able to confirm what he told me. The new PG in an effort to cut costs has banned all overtime throughout the USPS and has instructed employees to just let mail sit until they are caught up enough to get to it, without charging overtime. We are officially screwed.
I just registered an account with UPS and will use them for items over $25 and see if I can absorb the additional shipping costs. At least I'll have my sanity, God willing. I cannot spend one more day apologizing for late deliveries.

if the packages arent sitting there they are putting them in the trucks and letting them go for a ride. I had a package that spent two day in chandler. Im in phoenix. It was in phoenix then went to chandler for two days. before coming back to phoenix. thank goodness this was not breakable items. this was from fedx. they are all doing it. no one seem to know what is going on anymore. the tracking system is **bleep** if they dont update their systems.

In the past 2 weeks, I've gotten many late delivery defects from Ebay because some of my packages have taken too long to be delivered. The first couple of times, Ebay removed the defects. Now Ebay refuses to remove them and says that the late deliveries is unsatisfactory for the customers and I should do more to avoid it.

something is going on with the cost of shipping and handling. they are charging way to much. tracking is useless if they dont update their system. If you package gets to the post office and misses the carrier by even five minutes it is sitting there waiting for the next day to hopefully go out. Pray that it does not get misplace, stolen, or whatever else in that time. No one seems to know what they are doing. and you have to pass a test to be hired at usps. what a joke. with that being said its all the delivery companies right now.

Two weeks ago I had to work 6 days instead of 5. This did not pay me overtime, it gave me a X day (a extra day off within the same pay period). So last week I worked 4 days instead of 5. It dosn't matter that I worked over 40 hours (I actually never work only 40 hours), ( my route is evaluated at 8.20 hours per day), I get paid the evaluated rate for that route each day I work, there is no time and a half for that 6th day.

@mrygorndfrancine wrote:yep. they dont care i had an item come in pieces. infact i bought it on ebay. fed ex, and ups are all getting just as bad now.
We do not pack your items, we only deliver them. I have shipped hundreds of very fragile items. I have picked up large sets of vintage china for a couple bucks at local auctions and shipped them to replacements.com without a single piece damaged.
With the exceptions of several FedEx packages left in the rain, dropped in the pickup bed or placed directly under my Isuzu troopers bumper and against the back wheel(yeah that actually happened to a camera I purchased). The only items that arrived damaged in shipping have been those that were poorly packed. No carrier can do anything about that.

@mrygorndfrancine wrote:not funny. I had a package that was from walmart this is using fed ex. It was in phoenix, which is where i am. then it was in chandler and stayed in chandler for 2 days. Then it came back to phoenix. I dont get it. It seems to be all of the. as a side note, i wrote a note to my carrier, well he just up and quited per the sub carrier. So now i can expect even more delays and with my regular mail. this cant possibly be because of the virus. and it seems to be all of the delivery company.
It happens sometimes. The carrier I subbed for when I started got his route that way, he had only been subbing a year and one afternoon the carrier called him and said can you work full time because I can't take it anymore I quit.
The route would have gone to another sub but he was only working for the health insurance (old contract) and was a dairy farmer.
The job is stressful and not for everyone.

@mrygorndfrancine wrote:I dont mind paying but i have a problem when it does not come in on time. when it is broken, when they dont update their system. when they just leave a package without knocking or ringing a bell. Yeah i have problems. they are all doing this right now. I think they think they can get away with it.
We are not supposed to knock or ring the bell unless we need a signature.

@mrygorndfrancine wrote:first off i would speak to someone about getting ot. My best friends husband works for the post office for over 25 years. he get ot. My mail carrier just quit. why cause they are running the hell out of them. This is two new carriers in just over a year. This is a hard route and no one stays long even after they broke it up a little. This means no mail, very late mail, my neighbor or person down the street gets my mail. It starts at the top. If they are not willing to make the changes they need to they will never become sufficient. and yes other carriers hand off to usps, and who know when you are going to get something and if its going to be in one piece. Then who do you believe. They are charging to much for shipping and handling and they dont update their system. It does not help when a seller adds money to the shipping and handling. Dont tell me they dont as I have had a few tell me they did or didnt make that much money. Just add that money to the price of the item not to shipping and handling.
LOL you can't just talk to someone about overtime, this is the contract and it is nationwide. It is what it is until the contract is up and a new one proposed. I myself would have many suggestions if they asked me.
First none of those sharp as heck political glossy cardstock things they push out in the millions each election. It gets bad enough I keep superglue at my case to close up the multitude of papercuts they cause.
Second no hand offs from Amazon, FedEx, or UPS over 1 cubic foot. Do you know over the past 2 weeks I have delivered 6 compressed mattresses and 4 bed frames for Amazon. Since the pandemic started I have had probably over a hundred cases of diapers, baby wipes, bags of dog food and cat litter EACH. I have two households with serious Monster addictions getting 2 cases of the energy drinks a week ( the boxes are so heavy that they come is a specialty box). There is simply not enough room in my Jeep several days a week. I don't have time on my route to run back for more and sometimes a clerk or the postmaster will take packages to our retail office which is on my route so I can grab them after I deliver some and make room in the Jeep.

@danemodsandy wrote:All I can say is that the delays are so outrageous that I am going to have to stop using eBay if a seller can't ship UPS. I'm a 22-year member, something like 125 purchases this year, and I am DONE until this situation gets resolved. USPS is currently sitting on an item I looked for for over two years. I was about to start buying my dream china, too. Not now, not with the way things are going.
Stop using USPS and pay much more using UPS, it's a free country.
USP and Fedex announcements from 8-20-2020:
United Parcel Service, Inc. and FedEx Corporation ... said that they are lifting their holiday prices to offset higher costs from increased deliveries during the coronavirus pandemic.

Sure, use UPS or Fedex, your buyers will love higher prices.
United Parcel Service, Inc. and FedEx Corporation ... the freight giants said that they are lifting their holiday prices (Trump's fault, of course) to offset higher costs from increased deliveries during the coronavirus pandemic.(8/10/2020)

Hmm:
Having given a great deal of thought to all of this, the loss to sellers (Having to refund due to comanies: NOT USPS: Iis the guarantee time delivery of companies that of course are not the shippers and canot and never had any way to guarantee, some thing the USPS does not guarantee.
In this case since it is eBay, it is More eBay FAULT THAN the USPS.

Still experiencing problems with this as well, packages not tracking, not being delivered, complaints from customers, and ebay is not helping with account defects because of it. The issue is snowballing and getting worse. USPS cant even give any answers or help except I know what you stated above is true.

they have always had overtime. There is no business whether government or private that does not have ot. Unless of course you are salary. If you work more than 40 hours your working ot and get paid ot or you get vacaction time. Its the law.
