Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

https://www.businessinsider.com/postmaster-general-carriers-leave-mail-delays-routes-usps-postal-ser...

After a heated confrontation with my postmaster today about why the USPS is trying to destroy my business with record delays and missing packages, he finally offered an explanation that wasn't the usual excuse or denial.  I've been able to confirm what he told me.  The new PG in an effort to cut costs has banned all overtime throughout the USPS and has instructed employees to just let mail sit until they are caught up enough to get to it, without charging overtime.  We are officially screwed.

I just registered an account with UPS and will use them for items over $25 and see if I can absorb the additional shipping costs.  At least I'll have my sanity, God willing.  I cannot spend one more day apologizing for late deliveries.

Etc.; Etc.

"Jesus told his followers to test the words and deeds of others so that they would not be deceived by false prophets. Jesus didn't tell them to blindly follow whatever they were told, but to think for themselves using logic and facts."

In your  post you seem to only pick and choose what applies to your misguided premise. And just to note: a lot of the language in your misguided post only confirns the conflict of interest of Dejoy holding the position of the PMG.

What you failed to mention is, whom appointed the Board of Governors, and whom makes the approval of those appointees? And whom controls the Senate, much to my disappointment, I; myself don't know whom they are, they don't appear to be of any Party I recognize, but that's just my opinion.

And whom nominated/appointed Dejoy for the Board of Governors to approve? You try to spin it in a different light, but it's all the same at the end of tunnel.

Now, you choose to cite Dejoy business history, so let's not stop there, by all means, please cite Trump's business history, and be honest about it.

And last, but not least, you close your premise with some type of religious metaphor, and whether one wishes to accept it or not accept it, the Framers made it clear, State and Church are to be separated. Gee

I don't doubt that you are conveying what you were told, but I know that the post office I use is still using overtime.  I overheard it just yesterday - directions from the supervisor to the counter attendee that she'd need to work overtime this week.

Here, unless we see the employee time card, we are not sure is overtime means overtime in actually over 8 hours in one day, more than 40 hours for the week, or if it means.........   more hours. Many USPS employees, although they are  "career" employees,  are not "full time"  employees.

Absolutly, in my office we have 2 clerks, neither get a full 40 hours consistently. We also have a PMR that works our retail office which is open 4 hours a day which puts her at 24 hours a week. She will get pulled in to our main office to sort in the morning or cover an hour or two before the retail office opens at noon so a clerk can run packages or help out if we are short a sub on the city routes. I think the last time anyone may have got overtime was when the flu (the standard kind) ran amuck through Misty's family (her, her husband, 3 kids and father in law) and I'm not sure anyone got any even then.

You can't be serious?

You've fallen into the Catch-22 Liberal trap of relying on supposed fake "fact checkers" to somehow verify their fake stories.

So who is checking the fact checkers then? What are the fact checkers qualifications and methods of fact checking? not very rational thinking to immediately omit those.

The mediabiasfactcheck website was founded in 2015 by Dave Van Zandt whose only qualification is a degree in communication.

According to "Columbia Journalism Review" as published by Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism the site has been described as a "amateur attempt at categorizing media bias and Van Zandt as an "armchair media analyst."

The Poynter Institute stated "Media Bias/Fact Check" is a widely cited source for news stories and even studies about misinformation, despite the fact that its method is in no way scientific."

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_Bias/Fact_Check

Rather than thinking for yourself and verifying if statements are correct in stories you rely on another unreliable source to verify those stories. This is the equivalent of having someone come up to you on the street and tell you they have a nice bridge to sell you and you make the purchase after their good friend vouches for them.

Your statement is an embodiment of a 1980s episode of Max Headroom, which predicted a dystopian future dominated by large evil media corporations.

Your statement is equivalent of user gidgetpup5 providing a link to a BusinessInsider article that uses the Washington Post as a source. Both are Liberal fake news outlets commonly recycled in Yahoo's news feed.

Not very rational thinking but more reminiscent to Trump Derangement Syndrome.

What do so called "Trumpers" and FOX News have to do this?

I am independent voter who thinks for himself.

I am many other users of Yahoo are quite aware of their Liberal bias based upon their day to day news feed of factually wrong stories. Their news feeds favor other Liberal news outlets pushing similar fake news stories. They recycle each other stories as the major source of income for all these outlets is from the ads which appear within the articles they post. Conservative outlets are usually only shown in their news feeds when they can someone be twisted to a Liberal narrative such as taking quotes out of context.

I and many others were the counter voice to these false stories. I and many others opposed to fake news utilized the comments section below each article to provide information and links to sites which entirely disproved such stories.

The problem is the majority of comments often found in each article's comments section went against Yahoo's narrative, thus exposing readers to the falsehoods in Yahoo's stories. Yahoo couldn't have that happening before an election so on June 30, 2020, Yahoo suspended the comments section below each article and placed the following statement with a button to open a survey.

This is called interference in a election.

This is why Yahoo's and many other internet company's liability limits under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act need to be revoked. I urge everyone to contact the White House and their Congressional representative to revoke liability limits under this act.

I maintain a personal library of various counterpoint statements and links to sites disproving statements commonly recycled in such fake news articles. Unlike you I don't use other unreliable biased sources of information as a supposed source.

Here is a rare Washington Post article that praises Trump efforts to solve the abuse of the UPU program. Of course what the article fails to disclose is that Amazon was a major abuser of this program, having copied eBay's 2010 groundbreaking effort to scam the system. The Washington Post had previously run stories against such actions; however, Amazon, unlike its tiny rival eBay, will be in a much better position to adjust to the rate increases for their Chinese vendors.

You'll need to access the article via Google's cache as directly going to the article requires a subscription.

I may only post a link or two but I do check multible sources.

As to your claims that all the fact checkers are liberals, well maybe that's because liberals are thinkers and search out the facts. They are not closed minded lemmings following their leader off a cliff.  That has always worked out well hasn't it (The Branch Davidians, The Peoples Temple,  Heaven's gate). Heck they don't even have to be suicidal there are groups like the Kingston's who amassed $511 million while those at the bottom of their cult gladly lived like slaves to the top. Don't even get me started on creeps like Warren Jeffs.

Why can't Ebay start some time of petition to the government.  The new postal guidelines are killing all of our businesses.  Not only can they now leave mail behind, they have eliminated overtime.  My mother had her medicine misshipped even, and had to do without her medicine for two days.  The post office is the backbone of many businesses right now.

I remember when the pharmacys didn't use tracking numbers. It always scared the c___ out of me. I am so extremely carefull about those delivery's more so than any other. And I don't care if I have to get out and plow through thigh high snow or walk through road constuction. Those packages will be delivered. Mail carriers are either contract exempt  or employed by the post office.    Mail carriers who are contract get paid by the hour with no increase in pay if they work overtime.    Mail carriers that work for the post office,   are paid time and half.    Mail clerks are still allowed to collect overtime as they must keep the post office open.

Those in distribution ,  sorting and processing are the first employees along with certain mail carriers on certain routes are the first to have overtime curtailed.

The overpayments to pensions was passed during a Republican controlled legislature in 2006.     These pensions,  just like the Social Security  and Medicare Trust funds  are the largest lender to the US government.     All  your hard earn money went to tax breaks for the rich.

Trump wants to give everyone who hits 65,  a payout on Social Security equal to what they put in so that they can buy their own health insurance and invest their money.

Trouble is that if you are over 72,  the money you take out is not what you put in,  but rather what someone else put in.

It costs me 8.66 to ship a package UPS that costs me 3.27 USPS.   Think postage is expensive now...wait until it is privatized.    In 1984,  Reagan thought it was a good idea to take our non profit health care system and turn it into a for profit system.    Since than health care costs have risen 1800 %.

ABSOLUT   TRUTH !

That is not how its works!

Before Cost Savings Mandates:

Its getting close to the end of a shift on Monday and postal employees go through their normal closing routines for the facility so they close the facility at the end of normal hours. One or more employees gathers the various wheeled laundry type carts used to hold mail behind the customer service counters. The carts are moved down to the loading docks to be handed over to a contractor who take them to a regional sorting facility.

Just before closing a handful of customers bring in some packages. A employee earns some minutes of overtime by running these last packages down to the loading docks.

After Cost Savings Mandates:

Those last few packages will remain in the laundry cart behind the counter until Tuesday rather than having USPS pay overtime to get them down to the loading dock. That little savings multiplied millions of times by employees will save USPS many millions of dollars.

Leftover Monday mail, if any, goes out on Tuesday.

When Friday rolls around there is no leftover mail from Monday through Wednesday still sitting around the carts! There is no growing giant pile of mail!

In the case of my local post office there is little chance of left over mail at all. A contractor arrives at the back door 15-20 minutes before closing. The contractor rings the back door bell and the clerk opens the door. The contractor loads the packages and bags of mail into his truck from a antique postal cart sitting right next to the back door. The clerk has already gone through most of his closing procedures beforehand so if any customer would happen to drop anything off in the last few minutes all the clerk has to do is walk 20 feet to the back door and hand it over to the contractor, which the clerk already has to do since he has to relock the back door. I've used the back door to this post office to deliver packages many times as I can simply ring the bell and place the on the cart and leave verses having to go up the front steps, go through a set of double doors and wait behind the counter.

Do you literally believe anything that the Leftist media puts in print verses investigating the matter on your own?

Actually working in such a facility, such as the large wholesaler I worked for, might enlighten you as to the actual day to day operations of such facilities.

You obviously have never worked for USPS.

#1  almost every offices lobby and windows closes before the outgoing truck comes for that days outgoing mail.  Even the drop box (aka big blue) in front of the PO is emptied before dispatch time.

#2 there have been many days when Amazon, FedEx or UPS doesn't arrive in time for us to take that days packages out. This can an does create a huge problem the following days as we try to fit the backlog into the days delivery.

Very similar to days after a holiday that doesn't close most buisnesses such as President's Day. Though it is nice to have a extra day off the following day is usually exhausting. But with these it is usually a case of more letters and maybe a boxholder that can be rolled if those letters are really a lot.  BUT now the new PM is saying to roll first class and packages which has NEVER been allowed before. Sopaychecks that come in the mail (yes some people do not have direct deposit) peoples medications (I deliver up to 40-50 perscriptions to my route daily), (on my old route I even delivered insulin to two different customers right to mini fridges on their porches, EXTREMELY TIME SENSITIVE).

Seeing that my mail route is rated at 8.20 hours a day, yes for most jobs this would put my week into overtime working 41 hours a week. Do I get paid overtime? No. Do I work more than the evaluated 41 hours? You bet ya, according to the evaluation I should be done at 3:30, I usually get back between 4 and 4:30 sometimes close to 5 when the dispatch truck is scheduled. Oh and according to evaluation that has me starting at 7:30. But by 6:30 all of us are in the office casing mail. NO ONE GETS OVERTIME PAY FOR THIS.

Yep, something is really up with USPS. I  sell fairly expensive items and now I have to add full insurance coverage for them becuase these packages are getting lost enroute while they sit for days undelivered, DISGUSTING.
