Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

https://www.businessinsider.com/postmaster-general-carriers-leave-mail-delays-routes-usps-postal-ser...

After a heated confrontation with my postmaster today about why the USPS is trying to destroy my business with record delays and missing packages, he finally offered an explanation that wasn't the usual excuse or denial.  I've been able to confirm what he told me.  The new PG in an effort to cut costs has banned all overtime throughout the USPS and has instructed employees to just let mail sit until they are caught up enough to get to it, without charging overtime.  We are officially screwed.

I just registered an account with UPS and will use them for items over $25 and see if I can absorb the additional shipping costs.  At least I'll have my sanity, God willing.  I cannot spend one more day apologizing for late deliveries.

I pay for Priority Mail to get this stuff to my customers fast. I and others are paying to have people working to get this mail delivered . This is bad business.

So Ebay need to get the skin in the game and prevent these people from getting refunds prematurely when these packages are delayed. I am doing my part to contact buyers when these package look stuck somewhere saying IN TRANSIT ARRIVING LATE.

No, the mail is not sitting there each day and piling up.

Its going out the next day!

If that is what is happening in your area, then you are lucky. That certainly doesn't seem the case in my area. Over the last couple weeks I sent out a few items daily, and there is no rhyme or reason when they get "accepted" or when they start moving. Send a priority mail package on one day, it sits for three days before "acceptance". Ship two first class packages the next day. One gets scanned, goes out same day (while the priority mail package from day before still untouched), other sits for two days. Following day, two more first-class picked up by mailperson, both scanned and went out that evening, package from first day and one of the pair from the next day, still sitting, no movement. Three different times now I've had to file claims to get any movement, and the packages are magically found 15 minutes after I submit the claim and sent on their way.

Re: Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

I am new to ebay but not new to USPS and other shipping.  I sold 2 items on ebay in July, the first cost within about what ebay calculated for shipping and got there in 2 days, the other cost 3x what ebay calculated and, I kid you not, showed as taking 3 days to make it from the branch I sent it from to the hub in our city.  Then it sat in the receiving city a day before going on a truck, taking 9 days to get there.   The first I mailed from the main post office in our city.  Thank you for taking the time to post this.  I was here looking for etiquette on the shipping costing 3x what was paid.

I have had to do package traces as well. One made it out to te customer pronto after the trace. One was totally lost in Phoenix,AZ, and had to refund and file an insurance claim. One now with Priority is about 6 days late and just did a trace on it.

So I read that the pres wants USPS to raise their shipping prices through the roof instead of helping them in one article I read recently. I think they need to put someone in charge that knows how to run a business properly. USPS and all other carriers are getting enormous volume of packages right now and enormous profit. So where is all this cash going—retirement funds. Who knows?

That is factually incorrect. Any bill not acted upon prior to the end of a congressional term simply expires and does not carry forward to the next congress. The congressional slate is wiped clean and starts fresh with the convening of the new congress.

USPS gets a set amount for the 'last mile' packages handed off by FedEx, UPS and Amazon. The bulk of the funds stay with to original carrier.

Normal USPS package postage is set at a break even rate. Currently the bulk of the last postage increase is earmarked for replacing the geriatric LLV fleet. About time too, they are starting to catch fire. Darby our one rural carrier that uses one had hers start smoking a few weeks ago. She pulled over and ripped all the mail out before even calling the Postmaster.  It didn't actually catch fire but it was hauled away and another one brought in to replace it the next day.

Yes bills have to be resubmitted but there is no other limit to the ability of that senate majority leaders ability to stall a bill.

Re: Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

not funny. I had a package that was from walmart this is using fed ex. It was in phoenix, which is where i am. then it was in chandler and stayed in chandler for 2 days.  Then it came back to phoenix. I dont get it. It seems to be all of the.  as a side note, i wrote a note to my carrier,  well he just up and quited per the sub carrier. So now i can expect even more delays and with my regular mail. this cant possibly be because of the virus. and it seems to be all of the delivery company.

I dont mind paying but i have a problem when it does not come in on time. when it is broken, when they dont update their system. when they just leave a package without knocking or ringing a bell. Yeah i have problems. they are all doing this right now. I think they think they can get away with it.

Re: Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

first of all its all the shipping company. most of them will start with one company then hand it off to usps. I had something come in the other day from ebay it was fragile said it on the box. this was delivered from fed ex. and there was a piece broken. mind you it was packaged good. I pretty sure it was not the seller. and it was fed exs fault. I did not want to give this seller a bad review. He said i could return it. I didnt want to i wanted the item thats why i bought it. It was a small piece on the base. I will try and crazy glue it. No on the company cares about you packages. None of them.

Re: Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

first off i would speak to someone about getting ot. My best friends husband works for the post office for over 25 years. he get ot. My mail carrier just quit. why cause they are running the hell out of them. This is two new carriers in just over a year. This is a hard route and no one stays long even after they broke it up a little. This means no mail, very late mail, my neighbor or person down the street gets my mail.  It starts at the top. If they are not willing to make the changes they need to they will never become sufficient.  and yes other carriers hand off to usps, and who know when you are going to get something and if its going to be in one piece. Then who do you believe. They are charging to much for shipping and handling and they dont update their system. It does not help when a seller adds money to the shipping and handling. Dont tell me they dont as I have had a few tell me they did or didnt make that much money. Just add that money to the price of the item not to shipping and handling.

Re: Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

all you sellers should complain to ebay and have them do something. If you guys go out of business so does ebay. they should be willing and want to help. I for one as a buyer am tired of it all. this has been going on since before the virus and now everyone want to use it as an excuse.
