Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

https://www.businessinsider.com/postmaster-general-carriers-leave-mail-delays-routes-usps-postal-ser...

After a heated confrontation with my postmaster today about why the USPS is trying to destroy my business with record delays and missing packages, he finally offered an explanation that wasn't the usual excuse or denial.  I've been able to confirm what he told me.  The new PG in an effort to cut costs has banned all overtime throughout the USPS and has instructed employees to just let mail sit until they are caught up enough to get to it, without charging overtime.  We are officially screwed.

I just registered an account with UPS and will use them for items over $25 and see if I can absorb the additional shipping costs.  At least I'll have my sanity, God willing.  I cannot spend one more day apologizing for late deliveries.

Did you ask your letter carrier how many hours a day would he be willing to work overtime so the mail does not sit at PO until they catch up? The number of packages increased exponentially. Everybody wants to shop from their homes and receive everything next day.

I live in VA and 95% of my packages (everything 1st class) are delivered within a normal time frame.

Re: Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

It didn't require McConnell at all!

It required Obama acting on his own if both houses of the Congress would not act.

Obama allowed eBay, China Post and USPS to set up this fraudulent program in 2010. At the time USPS officials said it was a great idea yet anyone with a tiny amount of common sense knows better than that. Were these officials ever fired for this? Nope, because like so many other government agencies there is no accountability for your actions.

The program ran for 1/2 of 2010 and saw USPS profits on foreign mail drop significantly. USPS only made a profit on foreign mail in 2010 because eBay's abuse only existed for half of the year. Soon other companies such as Amazon copied eBay. From 2011 onward USPS lost increasingly amounts on foreign due to eBay's abuse and Obama did nothing!

Obama could ended it within a year by himself by doing exactly what Trump did.

Faced with not having access to the largest market in the world (the U.S.) other countries soon agreed to end the abusive pricing. Yet Liberal media outlets mocked Trump for these efforts that Obama & Congress refused to fix for his eight years in office.

Re: Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

Why can't Ebay start some time of petition to the government.  The new postal guidelines are killing all of our businesses.  Not only can they now leave mail behind, they have eliminated overtime.  My mother had her medicine misshipped even, and had to do without her medicine for two days.  The post office is the backbone of many businesses right now.

USPS Priority Mail delivery time is not GUARANTEED it is an estimated DELIVERY TIME.

Priority Mail Express offers next business next day to 2 day delivery time based on USPS business days (Sat, Sun and Holidays don't count).  But teh retail starting price is $26.45

Re: Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

Mail carriers are either contract exempt  or employed by the post office.    Mail carriers who are contract get paid by the hour with no increase in pay if they work overtime.    Mail carriers that work for the post office,   are paid time and half.    Mail clerks are still allowed to collect overtime as they must keep the post office open.

Those in distribution ,  sorting and processing are the first employees along with certain mail carriers on certain routes are the first to have overtime curtailed.

The overpayments to pensions was passed during a Republican controlled legislature in 2006.     These pensions,  just like the Social Security  and Medicare Trust funds  are the largest lender to the US government.     All  your hard earn money went to tax breaks for the rich.

Trump wants to give everyone who hits 65,  a payout on Social Security equal to what they put in so that they can buy their own health insurance and invest their money.

Trouble is that if you are over 72,  the money you take out is not what you put in,  but rather what someone else put in.

It costs me 8.66 to ship a package UPS that costs me 3.27 USPS.   Think postage is expensive now...wait until it is privatized.    In 1984,  Reagan thought it was a good idea to take our non profit health care system and turn it into a for profit system.    Since than health care costs have risen 1800 %.

Re: Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

That is not how its works!

Before Cost Savings Mandates:

Its getting close to the end of a shift on Monday and postal employees go through their normal closing routines for the facility so they close the facility at the end of normal hours. One or more employees gathers the various wheeled laundry type carts used to hold mail behind the customer service counters. The carts are moved down to the loading docks to be handed over to a contractor who take them to a regional sorting facility.

Just before closing a handful of customers bring in some packages. A employee earns some minutes of overtime by running these last packages down to the loading docks.

After Cost Savings Mandates:

Those last few packages will remain in the laundry cart behind the counter until Tuesday rather than having USPS pay overtime to get them down to the loading dock. That little savings multiplied millions of times by employees will save USPS many millions of dollars.

Leftover Monday mail, if any, goes out on Tuesday.

When Friday rolls around there is no leftover mail from Monday through Wednesday still sitting around the carts! There is no growing giant pile of mail!

In the case of my local post office there is little chance of left over mail at all. A contractor arrives at the back door 15-20 minutes before closing. The contractor rings the back door bell and the clerk opens the door. The contractor loads the packages and bags of mail into his truck from a antique postal cart sitting right next to the back door. The clerk has already gone through most of his closing procedures beforehand so if any customer would happen to drop anything off in the last few minutes all the clerk has to do is walk 20 feet to the back door and hand it over to the contractor, which the clerk already has to do since he has to relock the back door. I've used the back door to this post office to deliver packages many times as I can simply ring the bell and place the on the cart and leave verses having to go up the front steps, go through a set of double doors and wait behind the counter.

Do you literally believe anything that the Leftist media puts in print verses investigating the matter on your own?

Actually working in such a facility, such as the large wholesaler I worked for, might enlighten you as to the actual day to day operations of such facilities.

"It all comes back to the money they can shove in their already buldging pockets."

Care to document this money trail you speak of?

You mean you've been holding back information that pertains to one or more crimes - which is a crime itself?

Or is it because you simply have nothing to back up your claims?

DeJoy and his wife have investments between valued between $30.1 million and $75.3 million in UPS and trucking company J.B. Hunt which the Leftist media are calling competitors.

You realize that J.B. Hunt is one of USPS's largest highway contractors?

uspsoig.gov/comment/4623

Do you realize that both UPS & FedEx utilize USPS to complete deliveries?

wsj.com/articles/u-s-mail-does-the-trick-for-fedex-ups-1407182247

Do you realize USPS's largest contractor is FedEx, which moves USPS's time sensitive packages on its fleet of planes?

"Your post is truth."

Yes, its truth in the sense of Biden's infamous statement: "We choose truth over facts"

"Dejoy has absolutely no prior experience in express services."

From Wikipedia:

"DeJoy was CEO of High Point, North Carolina-based New Breed Logistics from 1983 to 2014, and retired after his company was acquired by Connecticut-based freight transporter, XPO Logistics, for a reported $615 million.

Following that acquisition he served as CEO of XPO's supply chain business in North America until his retirement in 2015, and was appointed to a strategic role on XPO Logistics' board of directors where he served until 2018."

He was appointed in May 2020 by unanimous selection of the 11 members of the Board of Governors of the United States Postal Service. He simply was not just appointed by Trump!

"And his net worth is probably around 60 million."

So you dislike people who have extensive practical business success in the real world verses experience in a dysfunctional government agency?

"The PMG,s salary is around 280k a year."

But you like dysfunctional government bureaucrats with no practical business experience that will continue to run the post office in a non business manner with no accountability.

You hate people who might forgo a larger salary to serve their country - interesting.

So what have these career USPS executives that you like so much have done in the past?

They created a program to buy the homes of postal executives who were forced to move due to a change in jobs. USPS sold these homes at great loses. People doing this at a private company would be fired and be charged with misusing company funds but not in the Post Office as there is no accountability.

In 2010 postal officials agreed to a deal negotiated by eBay between China Post, USPS and eBay to misuse the intent of a 1969 UPS program designed to help poor countries. Instead eBay used it for their Chinese vendors. This cost USPS billions in loses on foreign mail. Obama and Congress ignored calls from U.S. citizens to end it as it was bankrupting USPS and destroying American jobs.

Who put an end to this abuse by eBay, Amazon and other companies? Trump is who ended it!

Congress is suppose to have oversight over USPS. Yet in 2006 they passed a bill requiring USPS to set aside up $110 billion in a span of ten years to cover the cost of retirees for the next 75 years. It took longer than 10 years as USPS was unable to make all the payments on time. USPS had lost money for 13 years straight and most of those loses have been due to this retirement funding mandate. In 2019; for instance, 83% of USPS's $8.8 billion loss was due to this bill.

Who gets political contributions (bribes) from competitors and abusers of USPS? Who owns stock in these companies? Members of Congress is who.

The money USPS was forced to pay into government coffers due to this bill is not sitting there earning interest for USPS. Its already been spent by Congress and USPS given an IOU, just as Congress has given an IOU for all the money paid into social security all these years.

"Now my opinion, I feel certain that there is a very qualified individual within the USPS who have devoted their life to the USPS and has worked very hard to climb that ladder only to be shoved to the side, by the personal self-satisfings wants of a Lunatic."

"God help us."

Shouldn't that be:

"God help us to think for ourselves rather than blindly believing whatever the Liberal media puts in print as fact due to our Trump Derangement Syndrome".

Jesus told his followers to test the words and deeds of others so that they would not be deceived by false prophets. Jesus didn't tell them to blindly follow whatever they were told, but to think for themselves using logic and facts.

Re: Finally, an official explanation to the outrageous USPS DELIVERY DELAYS

You may want to read what can be dropped into mail boxes.

If your package was more than 1/2" thick or weighed more than 10 ounces technically USPS is suppose it send it back to you. It could have been delayed because it was held in limbo for a period of time for violating postal mail box standards, but was accidentally sent on to its destination rather than being returned to you.

eBay routinely gives political contributions to politicians who oppose USPS reform.

The same politicians who are responsible for the bulk of  loses over the last 13 years.

Congress is suppose to have oversight over USPS. Yet in 2006 they passed a bill requiring USPS to set aside up $110 billion in a span of ten years to cover the cost of retirees for the next 75 years. There a world wide pandemic, causing logistic problems for USPS as well as declines in First Class Mail revenue and you still expect the mail to arrive on time.

Please do not spread false information.

We could drive to our USPS location at 5PM and see they're literally packing items outside that they're rushing on to trucks, because there's no more room inside.

More than 20% of the orders EVERY SINGLE DAY are not going out on time, and being delayed at least a week.

Certain days, such as the 23rd, > 90% of our orders didn't go out.

Leftover mail IS NOT going out the next day.

Our postal workers have directly admit it: "As their warehouse fills up, packages are getting pushed to the back of the room, while the daily orders are unloaded in front of them. They haven't been able to get to the back half of the warehouse for over 2 weeks".

This isn't "leftist media". This is the true situation if we drive to our USPS ourselves.

You're the one guilty of believing what media is saying, when you should start believing the sellers with long standing reputations of getting their items out on time who are experiencing this themselves.

Let's not continue to dismiss what is happening in reality, for what the media is claiming, as that's what you're doing.

The reality is, we have hundreds of packages that have not been delivered for weeks, and we're only one of thousands of sellers experiencing this.

This is NOT due to the pandemic. Through the pandemic we've only had 10-11 items lost per month. We've got over 95 cases opened since the last 2-3 weeks, and more than half of the customers haven't even opened an INR case yet.

The exact date this began was the date the new policies began (the 13th of last month).

The postal workers will openly admit this.

The one in denial is you.
