Can go both ways. But has bought items abroad and seller required my name for package, my domestic orders biz name suffices, and caused a delay to my order (what a p.i.t.a. as really needed item for a new product line). Does this apply to shipments specifically sent abroad (thot doesn't make a whole lotta sense whether it matter mattered if the addressee is a biz...)??

I can't speak for all carriers, but the USPS REQUIRES a full first and last name (initials will be rejected) on international packages even if it is going to a business. Interestingly they will accept initials only for domestic deliveries which makes me think that it is the Postal Union more so than the post office making the rule. The person at the business responsible for its receipt must be named. And a real name not an eBay ID or screen name. Failure to provide the information will most likely cause the package to be returned to you.

International shipping involves the rules of the destination country as well as whatever USPS might be happy with for its domestic shipments - so yes I would definitely expect to have to provide a full name on an international address.
I would say that USPS requires it up front so that they do not have to track which country has what requirements about recipient name. When Customs or Duty or VAT fees have to be paid then the destination country definitely wants to verify that the recipient has paid.
