Of the 18 items listed under Need time to assess "though not all may be feasible," I vote for Item No. 1, "Bring recently posted threads to the top of the board," as the most important to implement ASAP.
Coming soon: "Add system status link back into the Community."
If the System Status shows all green checkmarks and says everything is working fine when eBay has major problems, then eBay should get rid of the System Status. Update it when there are major problems, such as seen with sold auctions being listed as unsold on Feb. 28 or not relisting GTC on Feb. 28. If eBay does NOT update the System Status board in a timely fashion, it is worthless. Linking to an inaccurate system status board doesn't provide any benefit.
Number of views per post is only seen on the Forum Posts page. Once one links to a specific post it is NOT seen on any of the discussions.
Going to a particular page in a post needs to have the option of typing in a page. For instance the Selling Forum Posts shows these pages at the bottom: <- 1 2 3 ... 2899 -> What if I wanted to go to page 1000? That would now require 997 mouse clicks, moving forward 1 page at a time.

It was so disappointing that their- edit response to this critical issue is that they need more time to assess it. Assess what? It was fine.
Their resistance to changing this back is telling of their agenda.

Missing from the Community Platform Feedback List was adding the ability to quote when using a smart phone.

AND the ability to quote in groups is missing. At least in the couple of groups that I belong to.

On today's eBay for Business Podcast (episode 130), eBay Community Manager, Sheila Dhake talked about the new Community platform enhancements. She said the former site was cluttered, not easy to navigate, and outdated. It seemed to me that the main feature she emphasized was that the new platform was much more responsive with pages quicker to load. She also stated that about 90% of the old code was cleared.
Prior to retirement I was a systems programmer at IBM. I'm guessing slashing so much code has resulted in the loss of some of the key features that made member support so effective and efficient on these boards.

Agree with your #1

Odd she didn't mention Mobile.......since that was the main reason I thought this was done..........I thought..
And yes removing 90% of the code, replacing it with huge banners, lots of white space as well as removing many of the things that made posting easy and fun.........really made a difference........sigh

I never felt the previous message boards were hard to navigate or outdated. They seemed to work fine for me.
Did ebay ask any of us who use it?... or did they just guess.

Quoting a famous phrase from the late Mr Roger Ebert...2 thumbs way down on this new message board.

The most important thing to me is to see who was the last responder to the post. Sometimes it is the OP that needs more info or a member hijacking the thread asking an unrelated question.

Well, on today's Podcast (episode 130) Shelia Dhake, eBay Community Manager, did mention launching and using a user survey as input. She was only on for 5 minutes, 2 minutes of which discussed her background, but I do believe there was some user input and that Shelia is listening to us now.

I have good reason to believe she is, too, and I have good reason to believe she understands our complaints and the issues we have with the new design.
BUT will that matter? Despite her interest, expertise, and the results of any survey, will the eBay bosses be willing to pay for an extensive re-do? If so, will eBay demand and get what is desired, when the Khoros developers drag their feet and / or try to say it can't be done now?

How many people participated in this user survey? I didn't, my wife didn't...actually I don't know anyone who was asked to fill out a survey.
A PRE launch survey would've been more effective...

Here's what was said on the Podcast (episode 130) about the survey:
"Sheila Dhake: When I first started, even though I have quite a bit of community management experience, when I went to the community, I didn't know where to start. It's like there are so many boards and I had no idea where to go. One of the things my team and I did is we created a survey and posted it on Community. We got tons of data back from the survey. And then we hired a team of analysts to analyze all the data on the survey. And they found that a lot of community members said cluttered, not easy for discussions, just confused.
Griff: Not easy to navigate.
Sheila Dhake: Not easy to navigate as well. And it's a pretty outdated platform. And the last redesign was about five to eight years ago. So it was time for a change,"

I understand your point has to do with usability of the boards, and I do not disagree at all.
But if eBay does not address this particular issue, it is possible to quickly reach any page by manipulating the page address directly. It is more easily done from any page other than page one (which typically does not have an explicit page number shown in the page address). If you go to page two of the Selling board, the page URL looks like this:
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/bd-p/selling-db/page/2
You can enter any page number in place of the "2", hit enter and go to that page.
It appears that eBay has already addressed some of your other points, so perhaps they will address this one as well, though.
