The "See full item description" button is one of the worst ideas eBay has ever implemented. I am a top rated seller and have been ever since the program was introduced. Part of what makes me a top rated seller is my big, beautiful pictures and my complete descriptions of what is included and what the condition of the item is. Now all of that is hidden and prospective buyers need to click another button to see the full description. I would be willing to bet that that button does not get clicked by over half the people that view the listing and that most of those that do not click it either do not see it or have no idea what it is for. I would also not be at all surprised if eBay sees a sharp increase in the number of item not as received cases because you are hiding the seller’s description of that item from prospective buyers. Let’s just put it in terms that management should be paying attention to: more item not as described cases means more man hours devoted to resolving these cases which in turn leads to more labor cost for eBay. Further, an increased number of item not as received cases leads to an increased number of buyers who had a bad experience on eBay and are therefore less likely to return to eBay. Less traffic leads to fewer bids which leads to lower final sales prices which leads to lower revenue for eBay from final value fees. So by hiding seller’s descriptions of the item they are selling from prospective buyers eBay is effectively raising the company's overall operating cost while lowering overall revenue.
Sellers please take a few minutes to let eBay know that you think this is a really bad idea and that it should be done away with. To by-pass all the misleading "Contact Us" links and send your message to someone who will actually read it please copy and paste the following into your browser's address window:

I was stuck in it for days. Clearing my computers history and cookies did not help. Going into the Firefox settings within Firefox and clearing history in there, Did work.
I dont mind that I was stuck in it (although I was very fustrated there for a while) as being a seller it gave me the chance to see what horrible presentation my buyers might be seeing. I played with a listing by revising and then going back and seeing how it was displaying. There are ways to clean it up and make the listing more presentable. Though a long run together paragraph looks terrible, it will display correctly in the small description field.

Clearing cache and history may help your personal computer, but buyers are still seeing it with the "see full description" button on their end.
Is Ebay going to fix this? Unless you sell brand new items with no collectibility at all this is a bad idea. There's important info in the full description that a buyer should be aware of. Making them click on something else to see it is just opening all sellers up for more uhappy buyers.
Why would they do this? This is only going to cause problems.

You might want to look again - your nightmare has arrived. Sorry.

Good for you - we need to get your comment & fix up to the top page so everyone else can see it
I tried it and am back to normal - Thank you so much - God Willing this can be a permanent fix
Someone (s) is asleep in the tech department if this has been going on for a while
I called Ebay and told the rep who turned out to be in Buying instead of Tech.... that this was a disaster
No one knows whats going on - seems like a ship without a captain and rudder !
Sorry, but if your 'normal' includes the button, then you are right 🙂

Hi I am in chrome - both my listings and when I view others' are all restored to full text no button
but I have not tried from another computer not signed in to see.
Also I called and read them the riot act last night and asked that it be escalated to the highest level.
I find it very interesting that of all the posts it is the only one that is NOT HIGHIGHTED in a bold title
and shoved all the way down to the bottom of the Selling section despite the fact it has more views
and posts than anything else on the first page - also a similar thread under technical difficulties that is not linked to this - Neither have any response from an Ebay team person - very disappointing.
Clearly there is a sitewide problem w/ various issues - repeats of posts yesterday, I had problems with the shipping calculator in listing tool holding or changing wt. data to calculate international shipping and finally gave up listing, as I cant afford to lose money.
In my humble opinion they are trying to provide too much on the site- non business related forums
that just act as a club or social network - it should be streamlined & focused on business.
I think the button is a byproduct of the change in removing X from listings that was announced earlier.
the reality is that too many sellers have very lengthy listings with too much text and dictums and it takes up "internet square footage" we should have a cap of # of lines, it will make the site more comopact and less load on the servers & memory. Thats one of about 50 things I would do if I ran Ebay !

This "see full item description" experiment STINKS and it's affecting my sales as well as many other sellers...

What's funny is my selling ID shows everything normal, but my buying ID has the button. Wonder how they're picking who "tests" the button.
In the various answers about this button that I've seen on the Ebay For Business Facebook page I did see them say this is a test at the buyer level. Have you ever used your selling ID to buy on eBay?
I was put into the test with my selling ID but I also have used it to buy in the past.
Personally I think the buyers are going to have to do a lot of complaining about this test to make eBay decide it isn't a good idea.

For the time being I created a Chrome extension. I hope eBay decides to return to how it was, but for now this extension removes this stupid button and gives me back the description in the page itself.
If you use Chrome, you can use this extension too. It can be downloaded from the Chrome store here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ebay-no-see-full-descript/olpjckhamnnahklcjegiphacfalmfoal

I don't believe the average buyer will know how to complain or/and will not take the time to do it. 😞

Ebay is probably banking on that ... LOL.

Worst Ebay "imrovement ?" ever. Now have to go to a seperate page to view the description then close it and go back to the origional. Terrible.

I hate it also but I think you will find this is a temporary thing as eBay implements the massive changes they are making to their description policy. AKA Unauthorized links been removed, Active contact been removed, all images must be from https:// not just http:// and so on.
Keeping ebay fully running while making such changes must be a nightmare for their IT guys.

So disappointed in Ebay right now. The reason our full descriptions are not there is because there is not enough room on the page with all the "People who viewed this item also viewed" listings shown on the page I am trying to sell my item. We pay a fee to sell on Ebay and when a buyer goes into our listing they should see only our listing. You don't see advertising for Kmart when you walk into Walmart. How stupid! This started a few days ago and our sales have plummeted since then.
