Pretty much what the tittle says. Anyone got any ideas what might be my course of action?
This is just absolutely unbelievable. They are refunding the items without returning the items. Laptops that were bought and sold with our personal effort, besides the funds being held by eBay, they are refunding the buyers without letting them return the items.

exactly what the OP is saying, but before they see that happening........... eBay is refunding the customer.
The OP is already below standard. They do not need additional defects from situations such as this.

I just had a buyer open a return, then somehow was able to escalate the return/open a case without ever sending the item back, but I got an email that the case was closed in my favor because the item was not returned.
Did you get an emails saying why they refunded right away? This is NOT the first I have read about this happening.
I would certainly message ebay for business and have them look into it.

Ive had this happen myself, buyer opens return for NAD, gets a return label, prints the return label. Then what they do is never send the item back. They then likely complain to eBay that they dropped the package off and never received the refund. Despite no scans, the buyer is able to escalate the case and receives a refund. When you contact eBay they play dumb and after back and forth they suggest that since the seller is responsible for the label, the buyer must be made while no matter what. The best I was able to accomplish was removal of the defect. Luckily since I switched to free returns, this hasn’t happened since. But it is possible.

The Shipping Label you supplied, was it used? If you track in on USPS.com, does it say the item was accepted and delivered? Enter Tracking Number here to see what the status is.
If the status shows the item was delivered but you did not receive item, take your documentation that shows your association with the Tracking Number to the USPS in person (eBay receipt for the label). Ask them to look up where that Tracking Number was delivered. They may not tell you who or where it was delivered but ask if they will provide you with written documentation that the Tracking Number was not delivered to your address. Sometimes they will have a picture of the delivery.
If your Tracking Number was not used, do you have the Tracking Number eBay used to decide the case? If yes, then do the same with the USPS. Take documentation of your association with the Tracking Number to the USPS and get written documentation that the tracking Number was not delivered to your address.
If you can prove eBay made a error issuing the refund, eBay has been known to reverse their decision in the seller’s favor. But you must prove there was an error.
If the USPS will provide you with documentation stating that you did not receive the Tracking Number eBay provided for the return, I would also file a Police Report before I appealed this to eBay.

So since you sell electronics, I assume you know how to take and share a screenshot. Can you show us what it shows for tracking on the return label you provided? That would be SOOO helpful for any of us to help you.

Too much missing information.
I haven't seen eBay do this unless you rejected the return which you say you didn't. Refuse to send a shipping label which you claim you provided.
This leaves some scam ways. Buyer claims he used his own label and shows delivered tracking to some random location in your zip code.
Or the label was used and showed delivered that you provided. Which could have been an accident and delivered to wrong address or you didn't realize it got delivered or porch pirates stole it from you.
Or they altered your label and changed the address so when they delivered it to the wrong address and scanned it shows delivered.
What you claim that eBay just felt like giving out refunds has never happened to me.

So lets assume what I say is true that they customer did not even ship the package (Which didn't), and eBay refunded the buyer without returning the package (which it did). What is my course of action since that's what is actually happening and I'm not exaggerating, I'm saying this with all the literal meaning on how I'm actually writing it.
I did not even get a package notification, not even a tracking number uploaded on the return case and eBay yet refunded the buyer.

Yes this is understandable from a point of view to reduce returns, or cases including scams. However, the issue is different, the customers are not returning the items. I had 2 cases with 2 laptops returns, which both of them did not ship the item (Literally no tracking update and also no indication from the couriers that they were shipped or left at their offices), and after a few days, ebay refund the money to the buyers, I have no course of action through the eBay normal means of appeal and even they are not following their own policies (making the buyer actually return the item or even a empty box for that matter since this happens too and I'm very aware of it).
How do you contact a company that they say they offer customer service yet, when these things happen like what is happening to me right now, I can't even get someone to investigate what is happening.

I never refunded the item!!! The buyer opened a case, and I accepted the return of the package (I paid for the label), it was an eBay label. After a few days the customer did not ship the item (And I made sure of this), and closed the case in favor of the buyer.
12-31-2023 10:26 AM
Yes they did that. Literally I've been doing that for the past 3 years, since I started selling. Recently changes the policies so I don't bleed money due to different things that have happened over the course of 1 year.
12-31-2023 10:29 AM
yes I understand what called the attention that I Might have missed, but been selling here long enough to know 90% of the standard things that have happened. I can't know it all but I'm customer centric oriented, and to not get neither the item (Or even a tracking uploaded on the case saying it was at least shipped) or the money it got me really upset.
12-31-2023 10:30 AM
I did issue a free label since the buyer described the item as not "Described" even if that wasn't true but I can't be right under eBay's eyes. They violated their own policy and I can't do anything.
12-31-2023 10:31 AM
Yes we did, and it's so frustrating to see this happening with such a big platform and we have no way to either contact them or do something about it. and not just in 1 case but 2 cases.
12-31-2023 10:32 AM
We did not issued the refund, the case was closed by eBay and the refund given to the buyer. We asked for an appeal stating we didn't even get the item shipped back thinking they made a mistake, and was denied.
