Thanks for all the kind and not so kind feedback!

First want to appologize for my/our rant yesterday. 😚

My wife and I just want to sell on ebay as just a hobby,

We both work full time with other incomes.

Our experience here has been kind of frightening.

There are some very angry and hostile buyers and sellers here.

Only been here a short while but it's actually shocking.

From threatening and hostile messages to giving negative feedback...

For nothing more than a few bucks. Just ask for your money back. No Problem!

In short of 3 years here, my wife have considered ebay is a hostile work environment,

That's what we have experienced, sad but true.

No need to reply.😑

Have a Great Weekend!

It's summer!

Peolpe are not freezing in New York. It's Summer.

Have a great weekend!

Have fun with it and ignore the noise. Only you can let them bring you down.

-Good luck and enjoy the outdoors a little.

I learned in the late 90s when I started selling online line, it business, not personal.

If you start taking it personal, it'll drive you crazy.

Have a great day.

I did not see your prior post.  I'm sorry you're having such a rough time!  Just a thought & I didn't look to see what you sell, perhaps it's the demographic you're attracting.  I've been selling here since 96 & while I've had the occasional PITA buyer, it's maybe 1 or 2 a year.  99.9% of my tx's go smooth as silk.  But some products attract a more difficult buyer.   Just something to consider.

If receiving a negative feedback that actually made your wife cry,(per your feedback response,) I would say on line selling is probably not for her.

I just looked at your FB & wanted to add one thing.  Maybe it was brought up yesterday but I'm not sure why you're so fixated on FB.  Are you aware that NEG FB does not affect your standing with eBay at all?  Only Defects affect your account & they are not tied to FB at all.  Also, your FB rating is 99.4%, not only does it not affect you with eBay, but no buyer is going to be concerned & avoid you b/c of that.   99.4 is perfectly fine.

This 'ruined reputation' thing is overly dramatic.  I know NEGS sting, but they actually don't hurt your business at all unless you have so many that buyers would avoid you.  Why is your wife crying?  Your account health is actually perfectly fine from a FB standpoint.  As long as you don't get any Defects, your business is not only not ruined, but it's really not affected at all.  Not sure if you knew that?

Hopefully it stays that way.

Watch eBay roll out the BBE policies that are given to non US customers to the US after they feel it's been 'successful' in improving buyer experience.

The OP and wife must have extremely good luck with their regular work history if eBay seems hostile by comparison.  When I think back on all the jobs I've worked at, not a single one of them didn't have at least one boss, coworker or customer who made me more upset than even the worst eBay buyer I've ever had.  And as a teacher ..... well let's see, there was the 6' tall boy who shoved me and told me he was going to stab me in the heart and watch me bleed out, did this in front of the whole class, and basically faced zero consequences for it.

I worked Retail off/on as both counter at Auto Parts to a Big Box Manager in the 80s, 90s....people were NO different, in person, than they are here today- online.

There's good, there's invisible and there's bad...nothing new.

The last place I worked, it wasn't nothing to get hit and beat up.

I worked with criminals with supposedly mental problems and they could hit you or put you in the hospital and there was nothing we could do because they were mental patients.

Most were there because they didn't want to be in jail and their lawyers told them to play crazy for a couple months and they would let them go.

A couple months later when they found out their lawyers lied, we had to deal with them.

Have a great day.

@budreaux

As others have told you, the feedbacks don't hurt your business and generally don't hurt your reputation unless you do more damage in your responses to feedbacks.

Anyone who sells long enough and/or has high enough volume will eventually get feedback that's other than positive and that may feel is undeserved or inaccurate.

If you feel you must respond to the feedback, do so professionally and unemotionally. If you're upset, take time too cool off.

Then post something to the effect of "I'm sorry you're unhappy with your purchase. Please open a return request and send it back for a refund."

Worked as a mental health counselor for 20 years. Many different settings. One setting working with angry young boys and yep, that was the most incredibly dangerous jobs when they got upset they would throw chairs at each other and me. This is a CUPCAKE compared to that.
