Alright, there was some back and forth on this before, and I'm going to raise the issue again.
Why, oh why, has eBay decided for us sellers, that a buyer on your Blocked Buyer List should automatically be blocked from messaging you? This is a horrible idea.
Don't tell me it's "redundant" or for my "convenience". Empower me, as a seller, to make my own decisions. This feature makes us have to choose between protecting our accounts from "problematic" buyers and providing good customer service to the aforementioned.
When buyers report a problem with their order, sometimes the reality is that the buyer is the problem. This is a situation where we, as sellers, should be able to protect ourselves and disable this buyer's ability to continue to purchase from us, while maintaining the ability to communicate with them and provide good customer service for their existing order. However, eBay has decided for us, that we can only choose one or the other.
It's very simple ...
-Give us the ability to choose whether we want to block messages from all buyers on our BBL or not.
-(I believe we already have this ability, but if not...) Give us the ability to block messages from individual members, if we need to cease all communication with them.
When a buyer shows me they are a problem, I BBL them immediately, and I forfeit any ability to continue to provide good customer service to them. It is unfortunate that eBay thinks they know better, and makes these sorts of decisions on our behalf .... Give me one good reason why

@wastingtime101I'm tagging you on this because I know you felt pretty strongly about this, and it's sad to see this issue continues many months after we last discussed it.

I am always mindful of WHEN I place the block. And it depends.
If there's a pending deal that's gone sour, and I want to be done with them, I always take care of the problem first. I wait to place the block until the deal is done, everything has settled, Ebay police have left, the judge has made a decision ... then, I issue the Restraining Order, and lock the door on the way out.
If there isn't a deal, and she is being a jerk at the beginning, I lock the door early.
My motto for blocking (and playing poker, and dating when I was doing that):
Fold early, fold often.

The block button doesn't stop returns in any way.
First thing I do when someone files a return is to block them, and then I process the return. I am not waiting around until later and maybe forgetting only to have them come back and do it to me again.
When someone sends me instructions how to pack cards along with their card order on my card account I block them immediately, before I even ship their order.
