Sale Have Plummeted!!

I have been selling on eBay for 13 Years. This is the worst drop in sales I have ever seen. I'm down 44% in the last month. I have a Store. I promote items. I offer quantity discounts. Good Pictures & Descriptions. Top Rated plus Rating. I send coupons. Quick & safe shipping. So I call eBay and get the run around. He tries to give me pointers on how to sell. WTH? It HAS to be their issue, not mine. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks!!

The problems began with the changes eBay made in mid-May in regards to the way views were calculated... no more robots.  Then there was the change to the PL percentage taking the minimum up to 2%.  Don't forget about the continuing category and item specifics changes... all of this happened it the same time frame.

It's truly amazing how many of eBay's brilliant ideas are non-functional, working at half of what they were intended to do or just not working at all. Why aren't we seeing any fixes or improvements?

The search engine algorithms are a disaster.  If people can't find it they won't buy it.

Now, on each and every one of your listing pages, your actual listing is compromised.  The description section is surrounded with 10 to 15 lines of "similar sponsored items" - "related sponsored items" - "more sponsored options" - " People who viewed this item also viewed..." and to top it all off a promo and link to a competitors listings right below your description.  SERIOUSLY eBay?

eBay is currently broken..... Please FIX the PROBLEM!!!!

I don't sell...I'm a buyer.   What I have made bold in your above post is the absolute truth!!  Half the time I just give up looking...yes, ebay is broken and is not the place it used to be.  Frustrating.

Not sure why, but I am suddenly having a good response to auctions. 

Currently I have 8 auctions with bids, which is an all-time record for me.

However, BIN items are moving very slowly, even when they have quite a few views. 

ETA Looks like paragraph spacing is still an issue.

sales were flowing well until three days ago, then out went the lights. Everything mentioned above is probably correct, and ebay is losing money as are sellers because of whatever is happening,,.  It makes no sense that there is a fairly good flow and then click, the switch goes off. I agree its not the economy as much,,, things are not getting viewed or found, search engines inside and outside ebay are broken or so it feels yet no one knows the real answer. When were all in the same boat this way something is wrong.

Agreed, that it's not the economy. I did very well in here during the Great Recession. Ebay and their "updates" are hurting sellers on purpose. Ebay is the problem, period.

same here! gas took what the electric didnt even with "assistance"..milk is $5 a gal & were having to spend cash on some stuff because the price of food spiked so high my assistance doesnt cover it anymore. never thought id have to struggle so bad after surviving what i did...its both. both are to blame & its freakin scary!

For me, this new listing mechanism has been the death knell.  As soon as eBay dumped it on all of us at the beginning of October, my sales plummeted even further than they had previously.  

And it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever:  Why would a change in listing procedures for sellers have an effect upon buyers' habits?

And yet -- it has.

The robots are still there, they just don't count their visits like before.

You have to ask yourself: Are you sure the robots are still visiting Ebay ?????

I have noticed a huge drop off in sales this month only. Is it the economy or eBay who knows. Supposedly the economy has been in the toilet the entire period that may sales have been extremely consistent within. From October 2019 until now. I think there is definitely something going on with eBay currently. Supposedly the economy was horrible during the whole covid period. I had extremely consistent sales until this month.

I have been off for three weeks. My brother has been off too. I was off for the update regarding views and PL at 2% for about a week. Then they turned me back on for about 6 weeks. I sold a few things overnight last night, hopefully its coming back on.

From reading all the posts about this lots of sellers experiencing being turned off but at different times.

It feels to me like they have to kick everyone out of the boat in order to update and we wait in a line to get back in the boat. Im currently in the water. I wonder if the age of the account is a factor.

People who sell 5 yard sale items a month will come here and tell you its the economy. Its not. They don’t sell enough to really see the steep decline and just want to run their mouth to hear themselves talk.

Nothing you can do will change it. Don’t continually discount or promote more and more. That won’t help. Keep listing. It will come back soon.

It would be infinitely easier to deal with if ebay would be honest about breaking it, why it breaks, and when it will be fixed. They disgust me in this regard and its why I don’t participate in any meetups, surveys, or OPEN.

Inflation of everyday commodities has limited purchases of non-essential items.  Yesterday butter was $4.59 a pound and eggs were $3.59 a dozen.  This is for store brand products.

The robots are still there, they're called web crawlers, they index content, that's how most of them work. ebay just insists they aren't being counted as real views.

Too bad ebay has no way to tell which views are real and which aren't today.

The reality is all major web browsers have the ability to block referrers, tracking cookies, etc, by default, so there is no way to tell whether the views came from a real human or a web crawler.

And I agree, whatever ebay did with their search algorithms/ranking back around may has a lot to do with the slowdowns we're seeing right now. Many sellers are still getting tons of traffic, others literally none.

Check your  "Recommendations"  on your listings...

I just found out that eBay erased all  "Item Specifics" on over 1/2 my listings. My views are literally at 0, and i was like **bleep**, so i went looking for answers, and sure enough, the "Item Type" was missing! Biggest Part of any listing, Just GONE! 

Item Type:

"Specific type of product that is being sold in the product listing"  ..... Missing, Thanks eBay!
