As the title says, if I close the auction with buyer never paid, would posting positve feedback stating "payment never received" be considered negative? Its a factual truth that to em is neither negative nor positive, only a recap of facts. What are your thoughts on this?

It is against policy to leave negatively worded positive feedback, if ebay's bots don't catch it a buyer can report you for it and the feedback is removed and your account will get a ding.

IF a buyer doesnt pay and the statement says "payment was never received" how in your opinion is that negatively worded? ebay allows feedback to be given in those situations, what other factual comment can be made if ebay is sending me alerts to leave feedback for mybuyers? (or bidders_)

No one is questioning whether it's factual. But it's not a positive feedback and per ebay policy, it's disallowed.
You aren't going to twist this in a way that can make it acceptable.

Why take the chance? I always feel doing so is more to make the seller feel better. If you filed the non-payment cancellation, that has a much bigger potential impact on them than a positive feedback will.

Sorry to say; but Sellers to Buyers is NOT SUPPOSED to have ANYTHING factual.
Site is not designed like that as Factual is reserved for Buyers to Sellers only.

In eBay’s eyes that is considered negative.
Anything that doesn’t put the buyer in a positive light is considered negative by eBay. I had a buyer threaten to cause me harm and cussed me out, I’m sure if I wrote that in a feedback for that buyer you’ll take that as a negative comment about the buyer albeit factual.
Probably even something as tame as “Here is the feedback you repeatedly asked me for.” can still be considered as negative to eBay.

Buyer bids up item
Does not make payment
Seller closes 4 days later for buyer not paid.

ebay gives seller a chance to leave feedback. With those facts what acceptable feedback could be left?

You asked. Everyone has given you the same correct answer. Of course, you do not have to agree.
However, I'll rephrase in a well-known saying "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."
So, in this case, your acceptable (public) feedback is 'none at all'. If you followed the 4 day, cancel as buyer didn't pay, that IS the correct way to 'leave a negative for the buyer'.

Why did you come looking for advice when in fact, you're looking for ways to circumvent ebay's rules?
Keep in mind that if you leave feedback for your buyer, no matter what you say, you'll be increasing his feedback count and his feedback will remain at 100%.
I'd try increasing my own feedback percentage by accurately describing my items.

thats sounds like a shot at my feedback score without knowing any facts - but my one neg will be removed within a week. The negative is attached to an open case in which the buyer used a freighr forwarding company and admitted it i just need to wait 4 days to win the case. The facr you felt the need to take a shot at my score for no reason shows you are another internet troll. And id ask that you stay out of any threads i post

My broader question is why does ebay allow the seller to leave feedback at all in these sotuatioms if posting the plain truth is against policy?

Blocking the buyer from future auctions and canceling the sale after 4 days the buyer gets a "ding" for not paying should be enough. I wouldn't give the buyer a feedback which will show a + sale but it really wasn't.

You can argue this point all day long with us in this forum. It will never change the fact that if you give any sort of negative comment with a positive feedback you are violating policy. Plain and simple.
Sellers haven’t been able to leave negative or neutral feedback for buyers since 2008.
If you want to get back at the buyer, (it seems to be your main goal) Cancel the transaction citing buyer didn’t pay. When you do that the buyer gets an unpaid item strike. 2 unpaid item strikes within 12 months will get that buyer blocked from bidding and buying from countless sellers including myself.
Then put the buyer in your blocked buyer list and be done with it.

No feedback would be acceptable feedback.
