Could you provide some examples? A closed listing number?

You can sell stuff on eBay without pictures.
But only if you teleport back to 1997 or so.

@stuff4divas is correct.
i've listed before using a generic "Image coming soon" picture ... until the picture(s) I wanted use were ready.

If the item has been listed for a long long tine. like years ebay. ebay may remove some or all of the pictures.

That listing has four images when I view it.

Those listings have an image which is an image containing text that says "image not available".
Using placeholder images like that is against eBay policy, but eBay has 1.5 billion listings and their policy enforcement is not always comprehensive, accurate, or timely.
The good news is you can just ignore those listings if you want.

Can you type using larger letters because i don't think anyone can read what your saying:

FWIW, I'm pretty sure that generic "image not available" is an ebay thing not the seller.

I also saw several listings without photos showing in search results this week. Just gray area where the photo should have appeared. No wording of any type.
I don't recall which items showed that way as I did searches for 9 or 10 different items on different days. I think several without photos were in baking supplies categories. I ran searches with and without location specific and BIN.
I did click on a couple of them thinking the item photo would show in the actual listing but did not. They were off shore listings. I only purchase from US and Canadian sellers so I ignored them.
I wonder if some offshore sellers were experiencing issues with photo uploading.

In the past week I have seen no picture in the search results for some items, just a grey box. When I viewed the detail page I saw pictures.
I postulate a server latency problem for those listings. It is likely to be transient.

Selling without genuine images should be banned.
Until then no sensible buyer should purchase anything blind, especially if its used / second hand products.
If the seller can't be bothered to take pictures they are clearly hiding something or they are mot serious sellers.
