Irrevocably slammed into "The new eBay labels experience"

They did it to me this morning by removing my ability to use the "Classic" label printing program that ALWAYS worked properly.

I commented on the disastrous "new and improved" program here last year.

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/The-new-eBay-labels-experience/td-p/28838454

Apparently ebay fixed some of the problems but now there's a different problem. My first label printed okay but here's what my 2nd label looked like.

Here's a closer look at this work of art from ebay.

As usual, the only way to fix it is the same as before. After wasting a label trying to use their always somewhat broken program, I had to undertake the extra steps to download the actual label file and print it with my computer based pdf program.

Good job ebay. Always making things better for us sellers. NOT!

Re: Irrevocably slammed into "The new eBay labels experience"

I have found that I get denied access to the classic label at times depending on how I choose to go to print my label.  If I use the bell alert and it doesn't work, I back out, and go to the item and try print shipping label from there.  So far, one of them will allow me to switch even if rejected on the other.

Thank you all but the only thing accomplished was was being allowed back into the survey after clearing cookies.

I contacted ebay to see if they can reverse the damage they did to me overnight and the issue is escalated.

I wonder what happens now with an order that requires customs info, as with a shipment to Puerto Rico? That always automatically reverted to the classic view because "The new eBay labels experience" was incapable.

A shipment to Puerto Rico from the US does not require a Customs form. The classic form did put you into the Customs form even though it was not really required and did not actually print once you had completed it. That was a minor bug but nothing like the mess that is the new labels 'experience'.

Re: Irrevocably slammed into "The new eBay labels experience"

No form required or printed but the info about country of origin has to be entered.

Regardless, "The new eBay labels experience" has always been incapable and automatically bypassed.

Re: Irrevocably slammed into "The new eBay labels experience"

That font mangling looks like a PDF font issue. If you are using the native PDF handler in the browser you need to be using an external handler like Nitro or Adobe, or just download the labels (disable previewing in the browser, or set it to ask each time), and print with a PDF program.

How to modify the URL on the new label flow page to revert to classic

New label flow URL should look like:

https://gslblui.ebay.com/gslblui/new_label?transId=1234567890123&itemId=273987654321

modify it to look like

https://gslblui.ebay.com/gslblui/back_to_classic?transId=1234567890123&itemId=273987654321

basically just replace "new_label" with "back_to_classic" in the URL, hit enter, and it should redirect to the classic flow for that label.

I have an automated Redirector rule to do that for me. See here for more info and a bookmarklet that handles the redirect.

Unfortunately there is no way to obtain the GrpId to create a URL that way - eaby comes up with it in the redirection logic somewhere.

[ran out of edit time after I reread the thread]

It looks like you may be using bulk shipping. Procedure to modify new bulk shipping flow URL is similar and found here:

Doing the substitution  from "new_label" to "back_to_classic" in the URL works like a champ. It goes directly to the Classic page for "Purchase and print USPS postage".

From there I added the Redirector extension to my Firefox and see that has potential but I can't figure out the pattern and/or wildcards to make it work properly.

If I enter the specific to and from URL's  in the redirection order, it works.

Re your later post: I don't use bulk shipping. I buy and print my labels one at a time.

Re: Irrevocably slammed into "The new eBay labels experience"

I lost access to the classic shipping yesterday , I hate the new one. I couldn't find a way to get back to it even after responding to the survey.

Re: Irrevocably slammed into "The new eBay labels experience"

Okay, I found a workaround. Do the "Print shipping label" link for your order from the order page. This will send your browser off to find the page for the "The new eBay labels experience". When the circle pops up and starts turning, push the X stop button to the left of the address bar.

This quickly sends you to this lovely error page.

Then push the blue button and you're done with the goofball new label experience and going back to classic.

Ack. Link to the Redirector rule post didn't make it into that message either:

Re: Irrevocably slammed into "The new eBay labels experience"

I've recently run into that problem as well with the garbage type.  I have the label sitting next to my comp and was getting ready to post about it too lol

It used to screw up another way - with Courier font and no kerning when I used Bulk Shipping.  It would happen with 2 or more pages of labels to print, but this new garbage happens with a single label!

They way I get it to go away is to use Print Preview.  It always shows me what's going to actually happen before it does.  If it's screwed up, I close out Print Preview and do Print Preview again.  Usually the 2nd time remedies the issue, but I've had to do it 3 times (usually if I'm printing more than 3 pages of labels)  The first page always printed out correctly but the subsequent ones were crapola

It's an extra annoying step, but it's better than printing garbage.

That's what happened during my ill fated foray into "The new eBay labels experience" last year. Butt ugly labels with the butt ugly jumblecourier font. I didn't print enough labels this time to know if it still does that. but I imagine it does.

I started selling on ebay 6 years ago and one of the most annoying things is their incessant need to always be screwing around with things that work perfectly well only to come up with things that don't work at all. And then force people into using their new style garbage.

Thanks for posting Redirector info and the code. It works perfectly. A much more elegant solution that using the back to classic link they took away from me yesterday. Haha, interesting they crippled my ability to print good labels by removing my link and now I have two much better ways to get there without even loading their silly new page. Life is good.

Now, do you have a tricky way to ditch Seller Hub and revert back to the old Selling Manager page?

I always wondered why I had to fill out a customs form for PR but then it never printed

Reality is the leading cause of stress.
