So, I got suspended yesterday for 7 days, due to transactions out of Ebay. Fair enough . Ebay makes the rules. I sell higher end sport jerseys ranging in price of $300 to 6-8-$1000. Before you think, Wow I wish I can make money like that, let me say its not like I sell one everyday, especially today, and I have my cost into these items as well. When I sell a jersey for lets say $400 , ebay takes there 15-20% , and Pay Pal takes there ( whatever it is ) cut, which would work out to around $80 after all is done. To me that is a lot of money. Consider a seller who sells an item for $10 . His / her cost would be $2 to sell that item. If I sold an item for $1000 , my cost would be $200.
There is something wrong here. For both sellers we get the exact same service and tools to sell. There should be a cap somewhere.
I have been suspended for selling outside of Ebay. Did I learn anything?Your **bleep** right I will do it again, and will be smarter about it. If Ebay would give me a better percentage on my sold costs , then sure I am all about giving them their fair cut, and would have to look at ways of saving ton their absorbent fees..
Iknow , some of you are going to say, well why not leave Ebay, or that's the deal you signed up for. Which is fine. I get it. I guess I am just a rebel...Thanks for reading my rant.

In my opinion you flatter yourself and if you plan on doing it again.....and getting away with it....you'll probably end up out on your ear...... just my thoughts

yikes..probably not too smart to post that in a public forum, which Ebay owns.

Are you tipping eBay?
The rest of us pay 10% (9.15% with a store) to eBay.

You need to source better.
I buy things for a ROI of 10x or more.
So if I was selling a jersey every now and then, rather infrequently for $800...the absolute tops I would want to have into it is $75.
Otherwise I'd put my money into something that turns and burns better.

Wow!!!! Your fee was exactly what you agreed to when you signed up for eBay. Why do you think it is unfair now? Are you entitled to a discount for selling a high end item? I wouldn't buy anything from you, regardless of the price. You have nothing to rant about and when you get caught again, I hope you are permanently banned from the site.

One of the fatal mistakes that a lot of people make when they are considering Ebay's ability to root out rule breakers is equating how and under what circumstances they do it to their ability level for doing it.
Ebay does what it does for their own reasons but don't think for one second that there isn't a team there, that no matter how smart you think you are, at obfuscating what you are doing (how smart exactly after you announced it to the world here lol) they are smarter, and better at catching you. As much as I have many many issues with ebay I don't discount their ability in this respect one little bit. This isn't call center reps that are responsible for this trust me.
It might not be tomorrow or the next day but they will catch you so best you plan for that as I would assume the next one will be permanent. If you think hiding from them is tough, try and get back in after a permanent ban and actually do business and stay in for more than a heartbeat!

But... if a seller sells 100 items at $10 each, then they're still paying that "$200"(?) in fees. Why should the fees be less because it was one sale versus several? You need to rethink some of this lol

there is a monthly cap. It's $750 I think
It's not monthly, its fvf on ONE item.............
05-16-2019 03:52 PM
Ah, that makes more sense tbh lol, not sure why I thought it was a monthly cap.
05-16-2019 04:26 PM
There used to be lower fees for higher priced items.

If you are caught selling an item off site, ebay will go ahead and charge you the final value fees if you've been warned about this and continue.
