How to prevent combined shipping

I've been searching for an answer to this, but the answers seem to be the opposite of what I need to do

When ordering multiples of the same item, I want a buyer to pay for each item as individual shipments (because some items can only be shipped that way because of the weight)

But it doesn't seem to be working

I turned off combined payments a month ago and it's still happening

Help Please?

How to prevent combined shipping

When creating your shipping policy you need to put the cost first first item and the cost of each additional item box. If that additional item box has all zeros then your buyer will get each additional item free. As for being separate shipments you may need to have separate listings for that ..26CDAD38-C4A2-4788-9F15-8F37138A6D6C.jpeg

Using only BIN is a good way to avoid this problem.  Just incorporate the shipping into your price.

How to prevent combined shipping

Does that work for calculated?

I'm assuming not, but I hope I'm wrong

Also, I was thinking of selling them separately, but one of my items is large industrial grow lights (about 100 of them)

Good advice thanks

How to prevent combined shipping

@mreinsmithBIN means Buy it Now option.

I have the same issue - many of our items weigh over 20 -30 pounds each. I have not yet found a way to create my listings to avoid the shipping $ shortage, other than to either list 1 Available. I then make a note that if a buyer need more than 1, they can message us with their shipping address. We will then make a custom listing with the shipping included.

I have tried many times to get an answer as to why ebay only charges for 1 item (the dimensions) but multiplies the weight. So 20 of a 2 pound item would calculate as shipping in a 8x6x4 box and weighs 40 pounds.

I do create listings and add a line to the details asking buyers who are ordering more then 1 of an item contact us before purchasing so we can get them accurate shipping costs. If item will fit in a USPS flat rate box, you can then select Each additional.

I will also use the zip code farthest from our location to calculate what the highest shipping could end up being, based on weight and dimension, multiple boxes etc. You can always refund the difference, if you're inclined to do so. Or, let buyers who ignore your request to contact you if ordering more than 1 know that you can send a Paypal invoice (I'm not sure if ebay has changed to allow us to send ebay invoices) for the difference in shipping.

I know that none of my ideas are ideal, but if anyone else has seen how to address this, I would be grateful to learn how to fix it.

Thanks for checking that

So. Not sure which one you picked, but

Shipping to my own zip code

The cheapest of the 3 types is 34.99 + 20.40 shipping = 55.39

So 2 of them should be 110.78

Because I can't combine them, they each have to go in a separate box

Not only because of the weight, but to protect the contents

Oh, I think I know the issue there

I think it's because it combined 2 of them with weight and size

But when you go to 3 either the weight or size goes over the limit

I think I just need to specify freight and give them a quote (if they even sell)

evbooksdiva has the right answer for making sure you get the correct shipping amount.  If you have calculated shipping, just make sure you select that instead of flat rate and leave the amount boxes blank.    Make sure you have your size and weight correct in your listing.  eBay will calculate one item and then multiply that by the total quantity sold.  At least that is what happens for me.  Also, you can do multiple shipping labels/tracking on an order so if you have to send an order in 3 different boxes instead of just one, you can have 3 tracking numbers for that order.

That is NOT the answer as freight for a $20 to $50 shipping cost item doesn't typically go that way, sell that way etc; go to USPS and input size, weight and farthest US zip code; use that price as 'flat rate shipping cost' and input that for 1 and the same amount for 'each additional' one as shown in a previous post. Quit using calculated.

Yes indeed, you understand my dilemma

At least I know I'm not missing something

These are all good options, I've seen people who just do free shipping period.

Lots to evaluate as I build up my volume

Thanks!

How to prevent combined shipping

For the example I gave I agree, and I might go as far as using a rate table

But there are many other cases where I need to give buyers (at least experienced buyers) another opition compared to other sellers

Calculated shipping seems to give me more results than flat rate or Free

I'll keep working on it

It just would be great to have the option of adding the shipping as if they were each a separate package
