First Neg . . . Heartbroken 😳😥

I received my first negative today and am absolutely heartbroken. I try so hard to be good to my buyers but I was not even given a warning that this lady was un-happy. Just a negative without reason. I would have given a refund or corrected whatever was an issue if she had contacted me. I have sent a message to the buyer to find out what about the auction that made her think she would be receiving 3 of the items instead of the 1 she purchased as I do not want to have it happen again. If she purchased 3 I did not receive and order for 3 I only received an order for 1? I just feel this is so unfair. ðŸ˜³ðŸ˜¥

Call Ebay If the Buyer Thought She Purchased MORE than she ACTUALLY did and Ebay Sees That they Should remove it..

I vaguely remember reading that ebay doesn't allow us to put in descriptions that we also offer this or that, when it isn't part of the current listing.  I used to say things like I have a matching pair of pants available for this top, but thought that was no longer allowed.   Did I dream up this rule?

Thank you for bringing this up.  I was unaware of this rule, so searched for an answer.  Just learned I am guilty of breaking this rule.  https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-policies/item-description-policy?id=4372&st=12&pos=3&quer...

I don't see that any of that quoted text disallows statements such as the fact that other matching components are available in other listings. That's certainly relevant to the item for sale, and a valid part of its description. I wouldn't think twice about putting such statements in the listing. (I would not, however, go showing photos of the matching components in that listing if they're not a part of that listing, which in this example they're not.)

"These areas should also be used only to describe the item for sale and to communicate the terms of the sale. If the information you want to include doesn't describe the item you are listing, you might want to include it on your profile page instead."

You certainly have more eBay knowledge than I do and I value your opinion.  My interpretation is different than yours.  To me the policy is saying if your not talking about the item in the listing, then it does not belong in that item's description.  I may be wrong...I often am.

The lady said the package was wet and looked like it had been run over by a truck. She said when she received it there was a sticker that said "delivered without contents".  Yes there is a 100.00 insurance on it however since she has it won't she have to file a claim?  So won't the refund, if it happens, go to her?

OOOPS!  My mistake. I was looking at the multiples listing.

I just looked at the original listing.

Yes, i could see where there might be some confusion.

Nowdays you have to list as if your potential customers are ... how do i say this nicely ... not too intelligent.  Everything has to be clear and spelled out.  There can be no doubt/gray area/questions.

Good luck!

LOL

The same thing happened to me.  When I clicked on the link that the negative was attached to, another listing that was a multi-variation listing came up.  Confused the heck out of me and caused me to post mis-information.

Re: First Neg . . . Heartbroken 😳😥

If you shipped Priority, you have $50 insurance coverage.

I don’t understand why you are still confused - I know you work hard and are a nice person, but it’s a bad misleading listing.

I don’t think the feedback sounds like you tried to cheat her, it reads to me like you’re jeering at her for being stupid.

Feedback is not communication, and she is not required to reach out to you first. That’s why clarity and thorough information is so important in a listing.

You are obligated to take the loss if it disappeared in shipping.

Variations save money and/or free listings too. They only count as one listing.

No, that used to be key word spamming, and quite a big deal. I don’t know if they still consider it so.

No, I am not obligated to replace if it disappeared when it is showing delivered. I am replacing it because it is the right thing to do!

It has 100.00 insurance as do all of my packages. Obviously she did not let me know there was issue with it or I would have handled it by giving her a refund and letting her keep the product. I did try to refund her but it has been long enough neither PayPal nor Ebay is giving me the refund option. I do not "jeer" at anyone and am sorry that is the way it is being taken.  I came here to ask my peers on how to handle this for their more experienced knowledge.  Some of you are outstanding. Some of you seem to like to kick the horse after it is down. Yes I admit I did make a mistake have you never made a mistake?

Um.... really? Did you mail an empty envelope? All your buyer has to do is file SNAD instead of INR.

All the time - open mouth, insert foot.

I don’t think anyone is being mean - lots of people are saying they know you’re a good person and seller.

But you do seem to be arguing that the listing is clear, so people keep repeating that it isn’t.

Not to mention you’d like to change your response, but they just don’t let people do that.

Its a bummer all around.

to expand on what red3rose has written, you are obligated to get the item to the buyer in the condition as stated in the listing.  Since your listing was not for an empty package, the buyer does indeed have a case and you are responsible for either a replacement or a refund if the case is decided in the buyer's favor.  which is a 99.99% likelihood.

eBay's Money Back Guarantee applies to both item not received and item not as described.

As for an insurance claim it is better for you to file, though the recipient can also file.  You file it online.  The buyer should hold onto the package until/if the USPS requests to see it.  You should have the insurance payout sent to you if there is one.  The refund to the buyer is a separate issue between you, the buyer, and eBay.

Since eBay requires the buyer to return the package/item to you in the case of a SNAD (significantly not as described) claim, your insurance claim may conflict with a buyer's SNAD claim.
