I received my first negative today and am absolutely heartbroken. I try so hard to be good to my buyers but I was not even given a warning that this lady was un-happy. Just a negative without reason. I would have given a refund or corrected whatever was an issue if she had contacted me. I have sent a message to the buyer to find out what about the auction that made her think she would be receiving 3 of the items instead of the 1 she purchased as I do not want to have it happen again. If she purchased 3 I did not receive and order for 3 I only received an order for 1? I just feel this is so unfair. 😳😥

Call eBay, ask them to read the listing and then read the FB... They may remove it. There is nothing on that listing that indicates the buyer would receive 3 items. They had to use the drop-down to choose a color which clearly shows one item.
I understand others posters criticism of showing all of the colors in the main photo, but this is the way that most variation listings are done. If the buyer then has reservations about it, the requirement to use the drop-down should clear that up. IMHO, the FB is removeable. I suggest a call. Let us know what happens.
It's not a variation listing.
Dang it... tricked by the substitute listing for an ended listing which is a variation listing.... Apologies
To the OP... You SHOULD have used a variation listing. Why shouldn't that buyer have thought they were getting 3 items. IMHO... NO chance of getting that one removed.

The OP isn't trying to get the neg removed.

I was simply correcting my previous post and did not say she was... I thought that was pretty obvious. I guess not.

I vaguely remember reading that ebay doesn't allow us to put in descriptions that we also offer this or that, when it isn't part of the current listing. I used to say things like I have a matching pair of pants available for this top, but thought that was no longer allowed. Did I dream up this rule?
Thank you for bringing this up. I was unaware of this rule, so searched for an answer. Just learned I am guilty of breaking this rule. https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-policies/item-description-policy?id=4372&st=12&pos=3&quer...

That said, your auction listing has a photo of four items.
Yep..........NEVER show more than what you are selling in the picture.............
Especially in the first picture. Then you want to emphasize over and over that the buyer will get only one. Say it over and over. Some people may not have excellent English skills and so they rely more on the pictures.
People who read the feedback will be able to see that the auction was for only one. I'd still change the first picture to the photo of the only item the buyer will actually get.

Regarding the missing contents: If your packages are insured, file a claim. Ask the buyer to send you pictures and file a claim online. If not insured, it is your loss and you are handling it correctly with the offer. If insured, you still want to make those offers, but you will need the pictures to get your reimbursement.
I know perfume must be shipped via ground services because of the alcohol. Perhaps a misunderstanding came up because the shampoo is from a perfume manufacturer? IDK. I would be contacting the shipper and finding out why the package arrived that way.

I used those pictures to show there are several options available and in the listing I say to see my other listings if they would prefer the other colors to promote my other listings.
The title, photos, description, item specifics, etc., are for the item being sold in the listing. Only for the item being sold in the listing.
By showing several options that are not available in the listing you are basically posting conflicting information within your listing. Which is not allowed because it causes the kind of confusion you have run into with this buyer.
Show only what you are selling in that listing in your pictures. Describe only what you are selling in that listing in your description.

Call ebay and have them remove the negative. The buyer bought one . I do see more than 1 color but I also see where I can click if I want 1 or 3 items. YOUR BUYER MADE AN ERROR. Call ebay. They can clearly see if they paid for one or three.
I think you are looking at eBay's display of a similar listing instead of the actual listing by the OP - on completed listings sometimes you have to look for that "see original listing" link box.

I don't see that any of that quoted text disallows statements such as the fact that other matching components are available in other listings. That's certainly relevant to the item for sale, and a valid part of its description. I wouldn't think twice about putting such statements in the listing. (I would not, however, go showing photos of the matching components in that listing if they're not a part of that listing, which in this example they're not.)

So sorry about what happened.
For those people saying you shouldn't show more than 1 item in your picture, you have to show more than 1 item, it's a VARIATIONS listing. Your showing the different colors available. I understand that.
In order to make a purchase, the buyer had to select a quantity and a color. The buyer selected 1. Not your fault.
I think and hope you will be able to get that negative feedback removed.
Good luck!

OOOPS! My mistake. I was looking at the multiples listing.
I just looked at the original listing.
Yes, i could see where there might be some confusion.
Nowdays you have to list as if your potential customers are ... how do i say this nicely ... not too intelligent. Everything has to be clear and spelled out. There can be no doubt/gray area/questions.
Good luck!

It is not a variations listing. You are not looking at the right listing. When you click on the link in the OP's feedback it leads to eBay's choice of a similar listing. You have to further click the link to see the original listing - in the upper right corner.
