Did you mean:

Do I need to get my eyes checked?

I have a buyer who bought a cap message me and say "Please refund, item arrived dirty and not new!!" They included these photos.

Am I missing something here? I don't see anything wrong with the cap in the photos given that he only took photos of the bill. I don't see any discoloring or sun damage, nothing. I mean I do see a bit of tiny dust specks on the sticker but come on. That dust can be brushed off.

I replied to the buyer that I'm not sure what area he is referring to when he said "dirty" and if he can elaborate. I even asked if he was referring to the dust on the sticker. Then I said regardless if they don't want the cap just return it to me for a refund since I have free returns.

He comes back with "Just give me a partial refund and I'll keep it and regift to someone else." What the heck?! He dodged my question completely. So I just straight out told him "Why don't you just regift it to me and I'll give you a full refund?" Ha ha.

Still waiting on his answer.

@d-k_treasures

You do know that most people who are 35 or younger collect hats and do not remove the stickers. It's a current fad. Believe me if it has a tag that does not mean it is new. Too many sellers fall into that trap. Buy something with a sticker then list it as new. Once it is worn even one time it is no longer new.

Excellent rejoinder.

This was his intention all along.  I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls this stunt with every seller.

Exactly!  I would report the collective email responses in 1 additional Buyer report.  Does not help your situation, but future Sellers, etc.  Your buyer's reply means he wanted the "deal" all along....perhaps he cannot file another claim, as he has too many?

Yeah, it's OK though, at least the person is learning some things. Once an item has been worn it is no longer new, even if it has tags.

i've been a victim of this. the guy asked for a discount, i said i don't know how to do discounts(which is true, i never learned), then he never bothered me again. probably on to the next mark

Re: Do I need to get my eyes checked?

Just so many scam artists.  I sold a game in shrink wrap.  the buyer then said the parts inside were used and not new.  I knew he was hunting for money.  I ignored it.  He gave me a negative, but I refuse to give in to scammers.  Stand Your Ground

WORN

verb: past particle of wear

once an item has been worn, it is no longer new and therefore considered used.

Re: Do I need to get my eyes checked?

This is the thing with wearables - a lot of the tagged items one might buy at the store may have been tried on, more than once - is this 'worn'? It may have been purchased and returned - how does one gauge wear in this case given who knows where it has been?  Does it have to be from the factory sealed in plastic to be unworn? How about something purchased at a thrift or consignment with a tag - new or worn due to unknown provenance?  I had a sneaky buyer return a NWT item obviously worn (it was too small for her, I could tell from the pulling at the armholes - she had tucked the tag into the item to wear it) - THAT was worn, even with a tag. 😖

Items also can be display models or 'handled' by being on display (I sell a lot of those) - they may have shop dust - they are new, but I wash them because of the shop dust - ::sad trombone:: no longer new so I sell pre-owned, but include the clipped off tag with it for good faith. That's where something can be "worn" with a giant sticker on it (i.e., handled), yet unworn.

Selling clothing: Not for the faint of heart.

So @iamalwaysright  - what did you decide?
