I have a buyer who bought a cap message me and say "Please refund, item arrived dirty and not new!!" They included these photos.
Am I missing something here? I don't see anything wrong with the cap in the photos given that he only took photos of the bill. I don't see any discoloring or sun damage, nothing. I mean I do see a bit of tiny dust specks on the sticker but come on. That dust can be brushed off.
I replied to the buyer that I'm not sure what area he is referring to when he said "dirty" and if he can elaborate. I even asked if he was referring to the dust on the sticker. Then I said regardless if they don't want the cap just return it to me for a refund since I have free returns.
He comes back with "Just give me a partial refund and I'll keep it and regift to someone else." What the heck?! He dodged my question completely. So I just straight out told him "Why don't you just regift it to me and I'll give you a full refund?" Ha ha.
Still waiting on his answer.

There are a couple areas that could be dirt. But it's also just as likely just a shadow.
Most likely trying to game you for a free or cheaper hat. Basically a coin flip if he actually follows through on the return.

The only thing I can see is what looks like it might be some dust on the sticker and that's easily brushed off.

On photo #2, I see something, though I'm not sure what. There is a dark speck on what looks to be a stitch & then looks like a spot in that area, though it could be an optical illusion, hard to tell. If you look at pic 2, there is a section above & around the dark speck, that looks darker & the stitches seem obscured in that section. The easiest thing to look for is the obscured stitches. Something is off there.
Certainly looks like a stain, but it's hard to tell for sure. Other 3 pics, I see nothing & the holo sticker makes it clear that it's new. New items can have shelf dust. Regardless, I wouldn't do a partial.

This buyer likely does this with every purchase.
Report them for demanding a partial refund. Keep an eye out for the coming neg.

Yea I looked at that area and gave up trying to make anything there because the area is so conveniently blurry. I wonder why it's so blurry there. And I would think that if the buyer wanted to call attention to it, it would be in focus when taking a photo of it.
Is the buyer calling out a specific area at all? Or just generally all over the bill? Weird how he dodged my question to be more specific.

I don't think it's blurry. I think it's a stain or sticker residue. If it were blurry, it would be the entire photo, not just that section & most of the photo is crystal clear. Take it from a CSA seller, something is going on in that section. IDK why he sent all the other pics or what his end game is, but it does appear to be something in that section & from my many years of experience as a clothing seller, it appears to be a 'clear' stain, which can be the hardest to see or sticker residue.
I do think there's something there just based on years & years of looking for stains & removing them, so if you wanted to give him a partial, that would be acceptable to many. I just personally don't do partials. I prefer to get the item back & try to remove the stain, but in your case, that's going to make the item not new, so maybe a partial is a better bet.
Early in my career, I got a complaint about a rather expensive brand I'd sold asking me what about all the stains on the lapels. Sure enough, I looked at my photos & there they were...a bunch of 'clear' stains. I was mortified. They can be really hard to see. But she returned & they washed right out with a bit of stain stick.

This is photo #2. You are claiming this photo isn't blurry? Whatever that spec is seems intentionally blurred out. It's just weird and a blurry photo of what looks like a new hat with an intentionally blurred out speck of something placed on it.

We no longer do partials - the pix are hard to tell - the sticker itself appears to have something on it and the area that is just the bill (darker looking pix, no sticker) - if you enlarge that, there does appear to be one area that appears to be slightly outlined/etc. No way to know for sure - might just wipe off also or just how it is angled?
Return for a full refund........return for a full refund. lol
What does his FB left for others look like?

It's not just the speck that's blurry, it's the whole section around it - looks to be about the size of a 50 cent piece. The rest of the photo is not blurry. That would be really hard to do intentionally. Unless there was a stain sitting on top that obscured the stitches in that area.
I've sold clothes for many years, so I deal with stains daily. It appears to be either a sticker residue stain or a 'clear' stain, like a water stain (though not actually a water stain in this case, there are other clear stains).
If OP gets it back & it's really a stain, as I believe it is, he won't be able to sell it as new, that's why a partial may make sense in this case, but I know many are opposed to partials on principle. I am, though in this case, I would make an exception b/c I would devalue the item, trying to fix it.

Yea that area totally looks blurry to me. Don't know if it was intentional, doctored, or what. But I'm willing to get the cap back to physically see what's up. I don't even know if that's the area he's referring to as he ignored my question and just asked for a partial.
@katzrul15 He left a neg to another seller saying something about the item arriving broken in pieces. That seller replied to it telling the buyer to provide photos and message him so he can resend or refund.

Arrghh, missed my edit window. It also has irregular edges, like a stain does. Wish I had a program to easily outline the area, but I use Picasa & it doesn't have that kind of tool. It's much more than the speck, it's the whole section around the speck.

You made me think of something else to wonder about hypothetically. What if the buyer removes the hologram sticker and there ends up being sticker residue on the bill. Would that be considered a defective or damaged item that I sold the buyer? What do you guys think? I have no idea on this one neither.

To me, no cuz it's what you're supposed to do. Can someone get it by Ebay? Probably. I have had to remove sticker residue from clothing & it's usually not possible without washing the whole thing, which many would claim makes it not new anymore.
I don't wear BB caps, so I'm not sure how one cleans a BB cap, but if you wash them, I imagine they don't look new anymore (lose their shape, wrinkle, etc). So, while I don't think removing the holo sticker & having a spot makes it defective (since that's what one is expected to do), IDK how I'd go about dealing with it on a BB cap, since it can't be washed & maintain the pristine nature.
I can tell you that on clothing, I will call that "shelf dust" & indicate in my listings that new items may have shelf dust & need to be washed before wearing. I only do that if it's minor. If it's more substantial, I will remove the tags & wash it myself & explain that I've done so, due to "shelf dust". Hope that helps.

Even though it does not look "dirty", to me the hat looks used. Did you describe it as new in the listing ?
