All these years and I just got my 1st cancel order request. The buyer put in Best offers on 3 items and the offers were fair so I accepted and sent the invoice. About 10 minutes later, I get the email from ebay stating the buyer wanted to cancel the order. I sent a message to the buyer asking them if there was a problem and instantly got a reply back saying "Dont be rude, just cancel the dang order."
Here's my question....if I cancel the order per the buyers request through ebay, can they still leave me feedback on the 3 sales?? Also, should I cancel it or should I just let it run and then open an UPI in 2 days. I've already put them on my BBL for future transactions (which is sad because he had over 1600 pos feedback all saying great buyer and superfast payer). Just stumped on this one. All help appreciated

Had my first cancel request after nealy 19 years. Phrased simply as "Please cancel my bid." , no explanation, reason or apology. Since there was about 13 hours left, I handled it politely, but it would have been nice to hear "thank you"...
People just aren't as polite as they should be.

buyer can't leave feedback on a cancelled order... of course.
Yes, they can. I even confirmed with an ebay rep that feedback can be given when a buyer does the 1 hour cancel request option. They said if bad feedback is given that they could review it for possible removal but it was allowed.
Thanks fern, &I also thought I remembered that conversation so I did a little digging...and here it is in living color....post #66

Under canceling a transaction is a section titled "Respond to a cancellation request from a buyer" and the following verbiage is in there:
"If your buyer cancels a purchase, they can't leave you negative or neutral Feedback or low detailed seller ratings about the transaction."

Hey everyone! Just an update - I reached out to get details on this and I may have found the source of some of the conflicting experiences detailed here on the boards; there used to be a block for buyers to leave feedback if they requested the cancellation, but this was removed. Since there are times where the buyer could be cancelling due to the seller's behavior (sudden increase to shipping costs, a change in terms, additional information about the item condition that contradicts the listing, etc.) we want to allow the buyer to leave feedback about their experience as often as possible. We still offer protection for a seller if a negative or neutral feedback is left and the buyer requested the cancellation through no fault of the seller, this would just have to be a manual review. I hope this helps clear up some of the confusion!

As others have said vintage - cancel the order and put them on your BBL. Don't even write them to tell them you cancelld the transaction as Ebay will notify them and it seems your buyer is one of those who doesn't like emails.
You did nothing wrong with asking the buyer if there was a problem = I probably would have done the same being this was a multiple item order.
Folks - I'm the first to question people on whether we have the whole story - but only after looking at what they are selling, previous transactions and feedback both received, left and any f/u. To accuse the OP of not revealing the whole story is wrong as they have very satisfied buyers and seem to go out of their way to please their buyers.

Thank you for the kind words @tunicaslot !

The buyer can definitely leave feedback.

Also, is there just a message that they wont complete the transaction, or a cancellation request?

It wasn't rude to call the seller rude? okay
I thought it was rude. The OP didn't seem to be rude when she asked her buyer if there was a problem. I would probably have liked to know if there was a problem, too, if this had happened to me. <shrug>
That said, I would have canceled as per the buyer's request and then blocked, as the OP did.

If you cancel the sale at the buyer's request, there IS no sale transaction for the buyer to post feedback to.
Yes there is. Cancelling a transaction doesn't erase the transaction as if it never happened. The buyer can still leave feedback and the transaction still appears on their purchase history.
Wow. IMO, it should not show on the buyer's PURCHASE HISTORY since the buyer DID NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING.
I think it's very unfair of eBay to allow a (rude) prospective buyer/problem buyer/buyers who cancel transactions/.... to leave ANY FEEDBACK!!!!

@campesinoplastic2014 it was a request from the buyer to cancel the transactions about 10 minutes after he put in 3 best offers and they were accepted.

I was thinking the same, but I could be wrong.
