I realize your flippant response was just trying to outdo my flippant post, but seriously, does all of this not concern others?  Who does taking over everything remind you of?  Is America now considered among the bad guys?

No one really cares in the real world. Just a few that post online where it really matters to none.

That seems incredibly sad and dangerous based on history.

So USPS is so brilliant lately? A monkey could take over and it would be better.

Well, the present people in the USPS have no one to blame but themselves. Yes, I retired from the USPS 10 years ago and am ashamed to say I even worked there today. Delivery service has NEVER been as bad as it is today.  The Indianapolis and Detroit mail hubs are a great example of no leadership. Even the USPS internally rates them at the bottom of the performance scores.

I wanted to mail some items Express at the buyer's request this week. One going to PA, a state over, had an expected delivery date of 3 days. One going to AZ Express had an expected delivery date of 4-5 days Express! I have mailed many express packages to Florida. 80% were service failures, and I was refunded. I got to mail them free. No company could continue to operate for free.

I also recently had several packages ripped open and the contents stolen. One was valued at over $20k from the Sarasota PO. Thankfully, it was insured. In over 25 years of mailing 10,000+ packages, I had only one stolen, and that was before tracking - a $12 book. Over the past 4-6 months, I have had all kinds of items delayed, lost, and stolen. It now takes over a week for a letter to get from the mid to western US.

A shakeup is far overdue. I won't mention the luxury club the USPS owns outside DC, the Bolger Center. 38 acres of PRIME real estate where they send their upper management for "training." It has its own golf course, and chefs make all the food and liquor free and unlimited at several bars on campus. I went there once. The food alone was incredible - trays of filet mignons. It abuts up to multimillion $ homes($10 mill and up), which included one owned by the original Wonder Woman.  I can't recall her name. This should be interesting.

The biggest threat to the Postal Service is itself.

In 1930s Germany the dictators took control of the postal system. Same under hard communist Russia.  It's the continued playbook of a tyrannical dictator

Kramer: "I got three 'Pottery Barn' catalogs in one day. That makes eight this month."
Jerry: "Why don't you just throw 'em out?"
Kramer: "Oh, no. I've been saving them up here in your apartment. And now, it's payback time. 'Pottery Barn' is in for a world of hurt."

Kramer: "Will you look at this? More catalogs! 'Omaha Steaks', 'Mac Warehouse', 'Newsweek'?! I can't stop all these companies, so, I'm gonna attack this problem at the choke point."
Jerry: "Stop the mail?"
Kramer: "That's... even better!"

Newman: "All right, it's true! Of course nobody needs mail. What do you think, you're so clever for figuring that out? But you don't know the half of what goes on here. So just walk away, Kramer. I beg of you."
