I do it take returns unless item is not as described. I sold a $400 necklace to a buyer they wanted to return because "it was a gift and they didn't like it. " I said no and eBay sided with me after seeing his reason. The buyer then disputed with his credit card saying it's not as described. He lied. I showed written evidence he lied and said he didn't like it as reason for return in writing. CC sided with the buyer and now I am out the money and the item. When I called to dispute the decision eBay says there is nothing they can do. I am now out $800. Bye bye eBay I am going REAL after 15 years and all the restrictions and increased commissions along with them frequently siding with buyers I am done. I am going to buy one share of stock now they are public and attend the next shareholders meeting to spread the word. Sellers pay for this billion dollar company but they abuse us.

And, by the way, you still have listings showing, despite your efforts to remove them all, so you'd better see what's going on and get the job done before you make a sale.
There are listings on BOTH IDs.

Unfortunately, that "protection" is only if the same type of case is filed via a chargeback. The eBay claim was "didn't like it", the cc chargeback was for "not as described". The protection won't apply.
The problem is still that when a c.card chargeback hits the eBay sellers account, there is still the ONE PICTURE upload to dispute it. As far as I know, there is no direction as to what is to be included in the limited size jpg. I sell on Mercari. A buyer that pulls this stunt is typically removed from the site forthwith and can never have another ID. I have a website, and I am allowed to offer documentation as to my returns policy etc. and actual timelines of what occurred. I am not limited to one jpg, nor was I ever removed from the negotiations when I had a brick and mortar business location.
If a buyer files with PayPal (which shows up just like a c.card chargeback in Managed Payments) they require the buyer to return the item BEFORE getting a refund. So long as eBay can simply pass these c.card chargebacks to the seller there is no incentive for them to do otherwise. You are forced to rely on eBay and their one jpg response form when in fact YOU should be the merchant of record.

That would be the one questionable point under the protection but not sure if "I didn't like it" is an option when you open a chargeback with a CC company. EBay could have easily worked with the CC company on this but as you state later on eBay has their fees and they a have no incentive to get involved.

I also sell on other venues and totally agree there are FAR better seller protections across the board than what eBay has which is pretty much nothing.

I remember those days on eBay when PayPal handled a LOT of chargebacks without even involving the seller especially INR's and charge not recognized. PayPal had enough smart people to simply check the tracking or inform the buyer of what the transaction was, what they bought and when they bought it. NAD's were still a problem under PayPal but not to the extent they are under MP.

I lost a non-eBay chargeback as the consumer.
The charge was for a limousine airport pickup that was ordered online.
Service was ordered on-line and it stated no refunds. I understood this to mean if I cancel or change the service that was ordered then there would be no refund. The limousine service did not show up for the scheduled pickup. The 24 hour phone number to the limousine service says the office closes at 10:00PM so there is no one available to help. A different company had to be used for the service.
My Credit Card denied the Chargeback because the limousine company has a no refund policy posted.
I appealed the decision and explained that the service was not canceled or changed. The service simply was not preformed. It was denied again based on the limousine service stating on-line, no refund.
Other than changing the date, both denials were the same exact written letter.
Anyway if I can lose as the consumer then eBay should be able to win as the merchant. I just wonder how much effort they actually put into resolving a Chargeback?

I am now out $800.
^^^ This logic always blows me away. I hate it about the botched Return, but I assure you that you're not 'out' $800.

but, but, but, the item that I sold for $24 was actually worth, and cost me, $84, so I am out $84. Isn't that how it works? (imagine the emoji of your choice placed here) I wanted $100, so in actuality, I am out $100 + the $24 that the buyer paid.

You lost an item. Just like if a shoplifter had taken it from your B&M shop. That will be the amount to enter on Schedule C.

"Credit card disputes are the same on EVERY platform."
This part of your statement is simply not true. I have never lost a CC dispute on my webstore. The CC processor on my webstore actually fights chargebacks for their merchants with every bit of info provided to them. Unlike here where you have to cram what you can on one page. Ebay does not actually fight chargebacks. They just submit that one file they allow you to upload and call that "fighting" it.

It is horrible. Ive been selling on here for 6 months and lost over 1k $ and some of my product.
I WAS WORKING WITH one BUYER to exchange a set of headlights. I felt bad so I shipped the other pair once ebay sent buyer the label because the buyer said he had shipped them. Long story short, He got 2 sets of headlights and all his money back.
People do not do the right thing but if most poeple had the opportunity for 1000$ woth of headlights and their money back with out question, they would take it. This is all on ebay and NO, they do not give a flying fig!

How long ago was the shipping label issued? Did you check the tracking number to see if anything had been sent? Hopefully you buyer will do the correct thing once they have the replacement headlights.

Online selling platforms all have the same issues.
In your B&M store, you have access to the transaction details. When PayPal was the processor they would provide the information, or at least have it available to the seller.
With Adyen in the picture these chargebacks have exposed a huge vulnerability. I’m not sure if eBay can’t can’t connect the dots for the seller in these situations, or they just won’t even try.
I have wondered if it is something to do with Adyen and the information they share with eBay.
Just my 2 cents.
