Why is there no longer an "Auto Relist" option for sellers??

In the past when I made a new auction item listing there is a checkbox under the "Selling details" section in the listing tool where I could select whether or not I would like for that item to be automatically re-listed or not.  When I have selected to automatically relist, and I set the auction duration for 7 days, eBay would relist the unsold item AUTOMATICALLY for 8 weeks in a row.  Also, each of the automatic relistings for that item were "free" in that it would NOT subtract from 250 auction listings I pay to have each month.

Recently I've noticed that my auction items set for 7 days duration are ENDING after 7 days and they are NOT automatically relisting.  I have looked in BOTH the old listing tool and the new listing tool and I am unable to find this selection option for automatic relisting ANYWHERE.  What happened to this option?!

So now I have to manually relist each auction item, which is a waste of time, AND I now lose an additional listing for the month each time I manually relist the item!  So it wastes my time and my money being paid to ebay which specifically covers automatic relisting for 8 times without deducting from my 250 auctions per month!  Here is a link to ebay's policy on automatically relisting auction items for 8 weeks, but right now it is not possible for me to do this and it is VERY aggravating.

What is going on and why are my auction listings no longer automatically relisting?  And where is that option in the listing tool?!

Thank you in advance for any guidance you can offer.

I believe that is for newer sellers and goes away when a  certain threshold has been met.

That doesn't seem correct.  Check the link because that's never noted in the ebay policy on auto relist, and it would certainly have a negative impact on many sellers' business if auto relist just happened to go away at some threshold.  I would imagine eBay would be driving away sellers with something like.

It says right in the policy on the second line "(if available)"

The automatically relist up to 8 times is a promotion that eBay will turn on and off at will.  Not sure what the parameters are for allowing you to have the relist up to 8 times option.  I have had them go for months at a time and then I have had them end in two or three weeks or after two or three weeks then they start to count as one of the free listings.

For the most part the relist does not count against you Free Listings, but sometimes they do.

"If available" to my understanding means that the item I am listing is not from one of the mentioned categories that is excluded from this offer.  Since the listings in question are not within those excluded categories it should be available.  That's the problem, the option is not showing but it should be.

I think you may be misinterpreting what "If available" means.

The Relist Up to 8 Times is a Promotion that eBay offers to certain people at certain times.  So "If Available" meaning if it is being offered within your listing then it is "Available" for you to use.  Everyone does not get this offer at the same time.

It seems to be more available to New Users for about a year or someone who has not sold in a long time.  It is not only just available to these people as it can be offered to anyone.  eBay decides who and when they will offer it to.  If it is on you listing page then it is "Available". otherwise it is not.

Don't count on it always working for you or working correctly.  They can end the Promotion with no notice or the can start to deduct from you Free Listings.  Sometime it could cost you money because you did not know all of your Free Listings were taken.

For instance starting on the 5th relist eBay started deducting from you Free Listings and you did not know this.  You use the remaining of your Free Listing no knowing that they had all been used with the Relist up to 8 Times Promotion.  Now you will be charges for the new Listings.  Anyway just always keep on eye on your Free Listing balance before you list something.

I have the promotion available to me at the moment.  If you give me a sample of what you can not get the Relist up to 8 Times I will check if it is available on my account.  Do you have an ended listing that it does not work on now but it did before?  Give me that one if available.

Nowhere does it say that auto-relist is a "promotion".  "Automatic relists and renewals" is literally the top section of the main "Relisting items" Help page, and the there is nothing about it ending upon some imaginary timeline.

What that help page does include is a list of categories that are excluded from automatic relisting, so that seems to me to be the only reason why this option would be unavailable, otherwise you're adding something that's not there -- neither "promotion" nor "time limited" nor any language of the sort are included in this help page about this feature that is described as working for specific categories.

When listing items from those categories that are explicitly excluded, the checkbox would obviously not be available.  My problem is that I have been listing items from the same category (sports collectible cards) for a while, and this category is not an excluded category.  My listings were automatically re-listing up until recently and then it stopped.

The other reason it doesn't make any sense for this to be some mystery promotion is that I've spoken with eBay support about this issue multiple times now and they told me verbatim, more than once, that this "problem" will hopefully be resolved by July 1st.  Surely eBay's paid support knows if auto-relist is simply a poorly documented "promotion" and not a normal service that is described clearly in the help page, right?

@ma_402525

Here's a post from an eBay employee, confirming that the auto-relist option is only available for eligible sellers, and that once the seller has listed "a certain number of items", it will not be available any more.On that thread, the OP was from the UK, but it works the same way here as it does there.

If you are not able to use auto-relist anymore, then it would appear that you are no longer eligible for this option. I agree that this is not [well] explained in the policy page.

velvet@ebay is an eBay employee; the customer service reps are out-sourced from another company.

If you have relist an auction that many times, list as a fixed price one time and be done with it.

Have a great day.

So, to tally this up:

(1) it's in a "testing phase" in the UK that goes away at some undefined criteria (according to msg base comment),

(2) it's completely unknown to multiple U.S. customer service representatives (not as a "promo" nor a "testing phase" offer),

(3) it's explained as a "problem" that would hopefully be resolved as of July 1st by multiple U.S. customer service supervisors (different supervisors, one providing partial refund during this time while they work on the problem),

(4) the "Auto relists" section on the main U.S. ebay website under the "Help" tree structure for Selling and Listing describes it working normally (in perpetuity) with no caveats for some "promo" or "testing phase" but only exemptions for certain categories,

and ... I'm sure I've missed a few at this point.

Seems like nobody actually knows what ebay wants it to be, but for sure is not documented in the way anyone here has described, anywhere.

I see you signed up with this account on June 5, 2021.  This past year you have been a New Seller and may have been offered multiple promotions.

During my first 18 months of selling consistently I received all kinds of promotions.  I would often receive bonus free listings of up to 500, the first 5 sales during a specific period with a Final Value Fee of no more than $10 and of course the relist up to 8 times offer.

I wish they would keep the relist up to 8 times option turned on all the time.  It got to be so unpredictable that I backed out of Auctions.  It was quite a lot of work to relist near 1800 items as Buy It Now.  But that is what I did so I could control my account.

I can only offer what I know to be how things have worked it the past and continue to work for me.

You want a policy specifying a certain offer?  Can not give you that but there is this.

Time to time does not mean the promotional offers will always be available to you.

Thank you for this.  I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to notice this is not called a "promo" anywhere but that it's spelled out explicitly in the online eBay Help document as a normal service.  Nothing about it only being available for x months or after y listings, but only excluding some categories.  eBay customer support doesn't recognize it as a promo either.

The only ones who call it a promo are other sellers musing about it in this message base, not ebay documentation nor ebay customer support.  In fact, ebay customer support supervision has called it a "problem" multiple times and I've confirmed now that other sellers have also been told it was a problem to be resolved by July 1st.

Odd that eBay paid support would say that if it's indeed some promotional offering like they suggest it is...

Thank you for your reply and thoughts on this.  I understand your point and I understand clearly that eBay can and does offer promotions from time to time; however, those promotions are clearly labeled as such (unlike 8 auto-relists), they're not included as regular features in the main eBay help documentation (unlike 8 auto-relists) and eBay customer service provides details about the promotions instead of referring to them as "problems" followed by refunds like they've done for this scenario.

I too am having this problem and after two chats and one phone call it’s still not resolved. My listings that ended without bids stopped auto-relisting at about the end of June/beginning of July.  When you call they just try to tell you “well the auto-relist wasn’t turned on for that auction”.  That is not the case - the option is simply not available.  I get into my wife’s account…auto-relist is right there.  I have a friend log into his account…auto-relist is right there.  I also noticed my view counts plummeted about the same time all this started happening.

It’s very frustrating.  Good luck to all.
