Hi all!

I am noticing my promotions banners are again showing at the BOTTOM of listings, and no longer up near the top of the page (my understanding was that eBay decided to revert back to displaying the banner back at the top of the page from their ill-conceived decision to move them to the bottom).

Perhaps there is valid data to support better conversions with the banner at the bottom of the page. Regardless, I still prefer it to appear at the top, and it is disappointing not having not having an option to choose from.

Is this a new test? Is anyone else experiencing this?

These constant changes and lack of communication are getting frustrating.

It figures not even getting lookers now I just got done mentioning (on our store page) banner placement back at the top of listings in our store and ebay goes and moves it AGAIN................GRRRRRRRRRRRR

Quit messing with my sales pleasssse!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want my promotions sales banner BACK at the front door not the back (bottom) of the store where no one sees it!!!!!!!!!!1

I never go into a store to look at the back of the building for sales/promotions. Sales flyers are always as you walk in (not hidden) Common Sense wake up ebay!!!!!!!!!!!

I just checked a couple other random seller with promotions on mobile.

NONE of the listings which show promo banners (albeit at the bottom) on desktop web browser show any indication of a promotion AT ALL on mobile. Not on on the android web browser, nor in the eBay app (latest update).

tyler@ebay Is removing visibility on mobile part of the 'test' ... or is this a "glitch"?

If a 'test', Isn't something like half of eBay traffic supposed occur via mobile these days?

There sure are a lot of 3rd party ads there, but no indication of a seller's promotion.

My listings that I have promotions on are all over the map. Some show the markdown promotion banner, some show the shipping promotion banner instead; some don't have a promo banner at all. When it is shown in my listings sometimes it's at the top, sometimes at the bottom.

Here's what I think: If they are testing -- whatever, thaywhould at least let us know. I'll be okay with it as long as the outcome is this; I get to choose the promotion that shows on the page. Since markdown manager went away when I have an item on a Sale event + markdown promotion and a shipping promotion, the markdown promotion is the one that will be shown in the banner no matter what. Period. A potential buyer can already see that the price is 10% off or whatever, so why show them that "10% Off" promo again instead of my "Free Shipping on Orders Over $25"?

On a side note, for several days whenever I search for an item on my PC, Best Match is not the default search. If fact, nothing is the default search. It's just blank, but the box to choose the option is there. When I choose "best match" the listings are in a different order. This happens whether or not I am logged in. So... is that happening to anyone else? Are these things related?

Very interesting! I randomly clicked on 5 or 6 of your items and the Promotions Banner showed (for me) both at the top AND the bottom of the listing. I actually like that quite a lot!!

Perhaps this is another phase or variation of the banner placement testing, but I hope they decide on both locations as the best option capturing buyers' attention both at the beginning and the bottom of the listing if they bother to scroll all the way through.

I'm not seeing the new store pages featuring or even displaying seller promotions, I hope that changes soon too.

@eromscomics try using Chrome's "incognito" or Firefox's "Private window" to conduct the search every time you want to look at your own listings' placement.

This way you're viewing unadultrated "default" search criteria each time (which includes "Best match" sort order as the default) as well as an empty, untracked view history for eBay to "recommend" other items or otherwise "customize" results.

The problem aren't these type of changes necessarily (even if this one would seem asinine), but rather that Ebay chooses to implement them sneakily and with no accompanying annoucement.

Love or hate Ebay, it is inexcusable that they have continued this trend for so long, and no sellers including myself should tolerate such silence on their part.

No banner at the top for me either; it's back there at the bottom. Haven't checked on mobile recently so not sure about promotions not appearing all there. Will verify later.

Besides the points that have already been made, why on Earth would Ebay have to test the exact same thing twice? Talk about looking like a chicken without its head.

I called about this twice today....the second time after I saw other seller's promos the "old" way or I'd say, the right way! Funny thing is, the sellers whose banners are at the top and in search results are the LARGER sellers. I sell clothing and I know who those sellers are...very familiar with them. Their promos are in search AND at the top of each of their listings, just like they should be. Ours do not even show up on mobile at ALL! Nobody will see ours. Last week we sold 12 extra items through our promotion. Helped a LOT! Now we will go down the tubes. 😞 The second time I called, the rep thought it was a glitch and reported it....it's supposed to get fixed. We will see! I will be calling back on Thursday if it is not fixed by then. It's not fair that it is working for some and not others!

Not sure if this would be relevant or not, but I noticed that the promotion banner DID appear at the top of my listings which utilized promotions I had set up last year. However, after updating my promotions across the board a few weeks ago, I noticed they had moved to the bottom of all listings.

Unfortunately, I do not want to use any promotions we set up last year....we lowered ALL of our prices by 30% near the end of last year due to poor sales. That helped for a while. So now, it's really hard to discount anything but I like the buy 2 get one free for some of our items that are not too inexpensive. The biggest issue to me about this moving the banner to the bottom and it not showing on mobile is the fact that is does work for SOME sellers and not others. I feel like we are being targeted, not being treated the same as the larger, warehouse type sellers....the few I looked at yesterday with promotions all had their banners showing at the right places. It should work this way for everyone who wants to use the tool, not just a select few!

Signed up for a store today mainly to get the extra free listings and to run a multiple item promotion. The promotion is showing only under the description. The promotion also doesn't show up in search results. My Fast N Free disappeared from my listings and doesn't show in search results. I ship First Class/Priority and same day handling. Also changed my store theme which hasn't resulted in anything yet. Do I need to give it some time and these things will turn up? Or more ebay "glitches" and I'm SOL? I fully know what I'm doing making changes to settings so this is on ebay.

I would call the selling department of ebay asap....the more people they have calling in about this the more apt they are to take this problem seriously. Also, I would go to the ebay for business Facebook page and send a message there. They are usually better at tracking down problems than the reps on the phone. If you are paying for a store, all the tools associated with the benefits of having that store should be working! Please let us know if you find out more....so far I am not having a lot of luck!

I have finally woke up and smell the coffee,hmmm banner on bottom,watchers visible to buyers not showing on most my listings hmmm.

Once a man in Georgia owned a tire shop the only tire shop in that small town.

One night he figured out if he could just flatten everyones tires they would have to buy more tires FROM HIM ,so he scattered nails on all the roads around town,sure enough he sold out but after a little time went by people figured out what he did

and he went to jail and lost everything from lawsuits.

My Uncle John I had dinner with the other night (he's a retired Conneticut tobacco lawer told me that story.)

Oh BY the way eBay is selling promotions.

Try not to let it bother you, eBay's going to do what they are going to do,try to work around it,this has hit me hard on (higher dollar sales) with mine with the throttling of watchers visible to the buyers

It's being done to everyone so at least your not the lone ranger,hope it helps

I just checked one of my promotions, and it (currently) has a SE+M promotion banner both at the top and at the bottom of the listing (like @eromscomics "order discount" promo was/is appearing).

I quite like this a lot! I hope whenever they're done testing, I hope they decide to keep a banner at teh top and the bottom.

However, I'm also runnning an "order discount" promotion, and it's still (as of this writing) only appearing near the bottom of the listing.

I'm also seeing promos in mobile (for the moment, at least), though on the web version it doesn't have the red text emphasis for the promo that the app version has.

Enticing promos mean nothing when buyers don't know they exist. I missed a buy 1 get 1 free promo this week because I didn't see the banner at the bottom of the listing. What reason would I have to scroll down past the list of store categories when the only stuff that's usually down there are similar items and I already made my decision to purchase the listing I was looking at?
