No prices or shipping costs on packing slip again

Hi-- Same problem as earlier-- no price or shipping costs on packing slip.  This happened earlier this month, then it came back to normal.  Now missing again.  I heard there was a work-around, but I do not know what it is.  Is ebay planning on fixing this, or is this the new packing slip ?

Very well put............and, needless to say, I certainly agree after crusading for years for "announcements" for this kind of stuff........things like this have to be costing Ebay in calls to CS.....beyond the Tech stuff, it's just plain sloppy management that doesn't recognize the advantage to them for announcements of this kind of thing.

@Anonymous

To add a nitpicking point ........if you click on edit on the new packing slip which has no prices, there's an option to remove the prices, really professional looking, Ebay.

@vintagethings2000

It is still possible to print the old slip........see message 6..........

Hi @dhbookds, can you elaborate for me on the concern with being able to remove the prices? I want to make sure I understand how this could pose a problem so I can pass along any necessary requests for changes. To me, it seems like this option would be best applied for a "Gift Receipt" request that a buyer may make, but there could be other situations where this option would be beneficial.

As for announcements on changes, definitely something we work to create when possible and feedback I will continue to pass along. Due to the large number of updates, tests, and changes that occur daily, it is not always feasible or beneficial to make formal announcements on changes. Our decision to communicate on these topics is often times based on the impact we believe they may have - if only a small fraction of our Community utilizes a feature, we may forego an official statement in many instances. We aren't always right on our estimate of how widespread the impact of a change may be, and are happy to let the appropriate teams know when avoidable confusion has arisen so we can improve in the future.

Since when does Walmart not show the prices and tax you paid for products on your receipt??

So why this unnecessary change??

|What calculated reason is eBay removing this data for, that they feel the buyer doesn't need to know??

Hi @dadsfloridatreasure, the full details of the transaction can be easily reviewed by the buyer from their Purchase History. It is quite common nowadays to be able to receive an electronic receipt from retailers, either through text or email. I personally frequent some businesses where this information is attached to any credit or debit cards I have used for previous purchases, and my preference for email or text is either saved or presented to me when I pay. We aren't hiding the cost of the item/taxes from the buyer, as they can review their order details for up to 2 years directly on eBay.

I do not prefer electronic receipts.  Never have, never will.  If you're going to promote electronic receipts, they why not just remove the Print Packing Slip all together??

I just don't understand why eBay can't just leave this option up to us??  I prefer sending a hard copy packing slip that includes all important info.

Honestly, who sat at a desk, was paid money to think of this idea, and then say, "Hey, let's remove all dollar amounts on Packing Slips!".  "Great idea!"

On a related note, when a packing slip and postage is now printed in the new page, why can't it correctly be formatted to 8-1/2" x 11" paper size?!?

Hi @dadsfloridatreasure, can you elaborate on exactly what you mean when you say "correctly be formatted"? I'd love to get some more details from you on how it is formatting, the steps you are taking to print this, and what you would like to see so I can pass this along/investigate.

Well darn, I thought I was pretty clear..........  The NEW packing slip  shows no prices, but if you try to edit it, it gives the option of NOT showing prices.

Oh, of course - I don't know why I didn't get what you were saying, @dhbookds, as you were pretty clear. I will get this screenshot over to our developers for updates. Thanks for providing it to me!

Re: No prices or shipping costs on packing slip again

Trinton,

If the packing slip is going to stay without prices (it shouldn't, in my opinion), how about formatting the invoice a little better (similar to the packing slip) and making it printable from the same page that we can print the packing slip and shipping label from?  I think someone else has also mentioned it, but I use the packing slip to pull items for packaging.  Some items have very similar title descriptions, but are slightly different, with different prices  Having the costs on the packing slips makes it easy to differentiate when pulling the items off the shelves.

Re: No prices or shipping costs on packing slip again

Absolute pain and wasted ages thinking I had done something wrong. Same as change to 'items sold' list - perfectly good system changed to something much more difficult to analyse at a glance.

Re: No prices or shipping costs on packing slip again

 It makes no sense that we find ourselves continually being impacted with changes that result in processes that are less helpful and more cumbersome.... and always without explanation as to what changed... and why.

none of the "work around" work!

Re: No prices or shipping costs on packing slip again

Well, that's stupid as hell. Many of us relied on those packing lists for our accountants to square away our ebay accounts. BUT, it is JUST LIKE ebay to say to hell with the sellers.... make it as difficult for them as possible, they only pay to use this service.... thanks for nothing. Making extra work for your sellers because no one there is smart enough to figure out the code for the packing lists to show the correct tax?? Awesome..... and as I mentioned... PAR FOR THE COURSE when it comes to Ebay and their sellers.... screw the sellers, we need BUYERS!!!! <--- Ebay's motto.... guess they don't realize there is nothing TO buy without sellers...

Re: No prices or shipping costs on packing slip again

So you DO test first....    (buy, sell, print.....    the only 3 things that happen on Ebay, and you can't ensure they all work prior to releasing new **bleep** pages??   Or is it you just don't CARE if it makes extra work for your sellers??  This is making extra work for every seller... why?  What justification can you give to make sellers go to extra lengths to print off a packing slip that shows how much was paid for the items and for the shipping to keep as a sales record??  You can't get a packing slip coded correctly?? Is that it? It's another round of **bleep** that ebay throws at the sellers and says "I DON'T CARE IF IT MAKES MORE WORK FOR YOU"...         90% of all your "new and improved" pages just stink.  Nothing is intuitive any more... everything is a blank, stark white so you can't tell where a type-able field is or isn't... and there is NO opting out of these new **bleep** pages...  sellers are STUCK with them,  because again... EBAY DOESN"T CARE IF they make more work for their sellers.... period.

Re: No prices or shipping costs on packing slip again

I find it valuable to use the packing slip with $ amounts listed. As a frequent buyer and seller, now I have to spend extra time locating the $ amounts. I use these for my records, both on purchases and sold items. I have to hand write in the amounts now,  Sure...it's available  if you go look it up, but the point is it's another task that adds time.

Just another reason why I have been listing less and less because it's more and more work.

Re: No prices or shipping costs on packing slip again

If you print a packing slip on PayPal, it still shows price, shipping charge, etc. However, I agree that eBay should fix this.

Hi @nc-daydreamer, the price has been intentionally removed and this is not an error. We will pass along the feedback here for consideration with our future updates, but at this time the details described in this thread do reflect the intended changes. You are able to use the steps provided by @tradetopia to obtain an invoice with this information if you would like.

@Anonymous

The invoice/packing slip under the drop down choices prints no ebay logo.......there is absolutely nothing to show where the item was bought..... shows only the buyer name/seller name/transaction #, date and the costs.........  so much for branding........

Hi @dhbookds, the logo option for the Seller Hub packing slip is customizable. You can add your business logo to the packing slip, or if you would rather you can show the eBay logo (by adding a URL). I've included a screenshot below of the option you would select:

Yep, I saw that.........and so just another thing to spend time on.........and figure out how to do it......I'm sure it would be illegal to use ebay's.......

Trinton, between this kind of thing and your "explanation" of why you don't announce "some" changes......it just reinforces the thought that no one there actually knows what's involved in trying run a business on ebay........ that all this extra stuff is just a slap in the face when most of us are trying to list, revise listings to make them more attractive, pack and ship etc........
