30 Days of listing I get "Where's all the stuff? Our homepage is down, but the rest of eBay is fine"

Fellow sellers- For about 4 weeks now this is the constant situation I have to deal with.  eBay works fine for me on all other levels all day, messaging customers, giving refunds, checking on my own bids and purchases.  But as soon as I try to list, BAM, it just shuts down....for about 10 - 20 minutes, then I can list one thing.  I try to list a similar item within minutes and sometimes I can list several things in a row then BAM shut down again for another 10 - 20 minutes.  None of this makes sense.  I use a new-ish Dell laptop, I do not have a VPN, I have Windows 11, I use Google Chrome, and every single other website I use regularly besides eBay is working just fine, this is a 100% eBay problem connected specifically to a seller attempting to list an item, maybe it is embedded in the photo uploading as part of the listing, but the whole site goes down EXCEPT the Community Boards where I can complain about it.  Many other threads about this have nice folks offering fix-its, but many have said none of the fix-its work.  The point of this is for the eBay Tech Support folks to pay attention and acknowledge that this is a problem on their end, I personally have had to forgo about a 100 - 200 listings these past weeks as it just takes too long.  I live in the SF - San Jose Bay Area near the eBay headquarters and some others have said the same so it may be specific to their local servers in the Bay Area.  But it has been ongoing for about 4 weeks and this is just tedious beyond belief, and ultimately a loss of revenue for sellers and eBay.

Seems like i can upload photos through the app to my phone or Ipad and finish the listing fine. Then I can go back in on my laptop (only a year old) and make revisions.

Does it matter what format the photos are in? JPG vs. PNG?

It is an Ebay problem. Stop trying to divert the real problem. Too many people having the same problem does not make all our computers to have a problem at the same time. FIX IT EBAY!!!

I find it odd that some users seem to have a serious problem listing, and yet others seem to have no problem at all. What is the difference between the users having a problem, and those that are still able to list?

If the problem is all at eBay's end, and there is nothing at all any user can do about it -- no way to avoid it or work around it -- then there is no point discussing the issue any further. Users having a problem will just have to sit there and wait patiently for eBay to take care of the issue, since there is nothing anyone else can do about it.

If there is a workaround, on the other hand, then the only way to discover that is for users to share what they have actually tried, and discuss what is working and what is not. Perhaps the issue only affects users of certain network providers, or in certain geographic locations. Perhaps there is a combination of factors: using a certain listing tool or template, using certain kinds of image files, in combination with a browser add-on, or a particular type of security software. Or maybe it is not any of those, but something else no one has considered yet.

That would only become apparent if users share information about what they are doing, even at the risk of being accused of "trying to divert the real problem", whatever that is supposed to mean.

All sellers aren't on the same server. There have been way too many of these posts to say it's the users computer. My issue started out of the blue as did most people who are having this issue. It's not my computer it's eBay.

If you are experiencing this issue it might be worth changing your domain name server to see if that affects anything or lets you post a listing.

Hey @dhbookds! It sounds like @cinema_visions may be experiencing ALERT15317 where a seller is unable to list or sell similar as they are getting an error intermittently. I would recommend OP reaching out to customer support to have their account added to the ticket as an example and hopefully this should be resolved soon.

I have the same problem.  I use 4 different devices and even went to the public library, which uses a different browser than my home, and I have the same problem.  I can barely get on the site let alone make changes.  I try to make changes and the changes are not saved or in the midst of saving the changes, I get one of 3 different messages saying "We looked everywhere.  Looks like this page is missing.  If you still need help, visit our help pages.", which is madness because the HELP pages are not accessible.  I have been on ebay over 20 years and I have never seen anything like this.  This problem has been ongoing since the last week in APRIL and I have now called at least six times but nothing has changed.  I have done as ebay has said and called back in 2 - 3 days and still nothing has changed.  I spend hours upon hours looking for an opportunity to list.  I have almost 800 drafts but can't list because the site goes down ALL DAY LONG every single day. since the end of APRIL 2024

Hi- I totally get your frustration as it has been happening to me, I wrote this to another person with the same problems so that I can at least get some listings up:  

Hi- I also have had the same problem for almost a month.  This is what I do:  I start to list an item when I can, including upload photo(s), write a description, put a price etc. just like a regular listing, but then I also have another eBay page open, often just the main page, and click refresh.  If it goes down to the "Where's All The Stuff" do not press the List Item button yet.  Then refresh that main other page every 3 - 5 minutes, I know this can be tedious, but it usually comes back up again anywhere from 5 - 20 minutes later, once it comes back up, you can safely go back to the page of your listing and hit "List It.", which you should do right away, don't hit any other page of any kind or it could go down again.  Then do the same thing again.  It takes 5 - 10x as long, but at least you can list some items, because as you've seen, if you try to list when it is down, then all your work disappears.

I reached out to ebay support through chat to have my account added to the ticket.

I totally understand the urgency of this. Let me assure you that we are now working on this and definitely this will be fix as soon as possible.
