Forcing you to give your checking account with routing number and Social Security number . I am not a big seller I just sold a few things I never used that I had then eBay locked my account AFTER selling some stuff saying I had to update my account. I refused to give my private information. I called eBay and of course I was tossed around from one person to another. I asked them why PayPal doesn’t ask you that kind of private information they allow you to use your bank card like a credit card and do two small deposits with one withdrawal to verify. If you are a business they only require your EIN number. Never do they ask you for your private information. Brittany from eBay the last woman I was talking to said well PayPal is a Financial company and a eBay is a market place. Ok so that supposed to make me feel comfortable giving Them my private information? That is supposed to tell me it’s Secure to do so? I had to ship the stuff I sold to the people because I’m not a jerk but eBay won’t give me my money. I told Britney I was deleting my account she sent me the link. Once I know the people received what they purchased ( because I’m honest) and want to make sure they got it even though it cost me money. I WAS a victim of fraud twice. My SS# was stolen and it ended up freezing my tax returns and the second time I had my bank account drained. I was told by the police to NEVER give your SS # out other than in person and never give your routing # out unless it’s in person or a government site which have very high security and Only if you need to exp: direct deposit tax return. I have never given it out since. There is NO good reason eBay needs that. They have documentation they took the sales tax out. Personally I think anyone that got ripped off by eBay and they will not give them their money back need to get together and sue eBay.

Hello @mam98031 The registration address is the one we need to match your bank info when you register for managed payments. If you update this information during the registration process it will update the 'Address' on file for the registered address at that time as well, which is what @hurryagain was seeing on their 'Addresses' page.
There seems to be confusion on what this page is saying though. Your registered address is the address we verify you with and the e-mail provided there will be where we contact you when we send any account notices. This is what is meant by "contact address". The registration address information is considered the contact address, they aren't two different things.

If sellers are well under a tax reporting requirement limit and sell infrequently will they also be forced to provide SS# and join MP?

Yes they are the same things, but for people that live in the country, boondocks, off the grid, in the sticks, whatever terminology is accepted these days, they only have a PO Box, because mail service isn’t available to their actual location.
Their bank, ID has a PO Box on it. This doesn’t account for most people, but they need an answer for what they need to do.
Thanks

OK now that is a bit different than I've been told before so just for clarity if the address on the Bank account is a PO box and the registered address in Ebay is that same PO box, then that is OK?
So having a PO box as your Registered address is OK as long as it matches your address on your bank account?

Sorry I was out all day today and didn't get back in until the evening...
"The registration address is the one we need to match your bank info when you register for managed payments."
...well my registration address - the one that they need to match my bank info IS MY PO BOX. When I tried to put in my PO Box, it would not allow me to input a PO box - it said:
This is the exact same thing it said to me when I registered for MP. I tried to put my PO Box in and this same statement popped up...is there a glitch? My Banking address is a PO Box...My address on my driver's license is a PO Box...everything is a PO Box - the same PO Box that I have had for over 20 years.
Thank you @mam98031 for helping me and others I'm sure navigate this route! I hope that there is an answer to this enigma.

First of all, I want to be crystal clear that I HATE MANAGED PAYMENTS! ITS A JOKE!
That being said, it's the way it is and it's the way it's going to be. We all have a choice in the matter. We can suck it up and deal, or we can accept it for what it is. Only you can make that decision for yourself and your business, but whining and fighting it is not good for your mental health or your bottom line. Businesses large and small have to adapt every day. It's the nature of being in business.
Also, I had to give a social and bank account for a PayPal business account if I remember correctly. I'm less concerned about that and more concerned with how awful managed payments is in general. But I also have the choice to not be a part of it if I think that's what's best for my business. So do you.

That was always my understanding too. Hopefully they will get back to the thread tomorrow with more clarification on this.

This has gotten so confusing that I don't care anymore. I've updated a couple more of my accounts and so far have not run into being forced to change to physical address. It was sort of funny that the only account it forced me to change was one that has never bought or sold but was my throwaway account when the boards were being overrun with those ladies of the night postings every night and I wanted to see just how easy it was to create an account (it was too easy to create an account for posting only on boards).
If the registration physical address has to match the address on my bank statement I can tell you it won't.

@hurryagain , @readabouthorses
If you only have a PO Box, then check with your Post Master and ask if you can use Street Addressing for it. That's where you format the address like this:
12345 Anywhere St. #NUM,
City, State, Zip
where the #NUM is your PO box number. Usually, it uses the street address and 5-digit zip code of your post office, but not always, and the zip+4 is usually different. You may have to fill out a form (2nd link below), and the details of the address may vary, so you need to check with the post master before you do this.
Street Addressing is a service by USPS, that was started in 2012. It's not available at all post offices, and you have to complete a permission form before you use the Street Addressing Service ... if you don't have a completed form on file, any mail that is addressed this way may be returned to the sender.
I would expect that USPS would make this available for all people who don't have mail delivery available to their houses, but I would definitely check with the post master before using it.
USPS > Postal Addressing Standards > 2 Postal Addressing Standards > 28 Post Office Box Addresses > 284 PO Box Street Addressing

Yes, eBay requires a TIN or tax identification number, such as an SSN, for all selling accounts.
eBay allows members to have as many accounts as they want to, and the reporting thresholds apply to the total of all your sales over all accounts. So eBay has to have a 100% reliable way to identify all the accounts that belong to each individual. In practice, requiring a TIN for all accounts is the only practical way to achieve that. Otherwise, if somebody didn't want to get any 1099s, they could just spread their sales out over multiple accounts.

Thank you for your post.
I already have that and actually did use that for eBay's registration. The problem is that it will not match up with my bank or any ID that I have b/c all of those are under my PO Box.
My PO Box address is:
PO Box XXXXX
City, State, Zip
My PO Box street addressing is:
XXX anyplace street unit #XXXXX
City, State, Zip
The two do not match up EXACTLY as MP wants them to do...
...so...IDK...
...sigh...😞

By giving Ebay the account number you give them a way to put the money in your account, BUT you also give them the ability to TAKE money from your account. I have been selling on Ebay since they started and every time they change the system it is for their benefit not the sellers. I am fine with the way things are and I sell a few items a week and all pay thru PAYPAL. I am not a business and do not need all these ways to pay. If it 's not broke don't fix it
