Forcing you to give your checking account with routing number and Social Security number . I am not a big seller I just sold a few things I never used that I had then eBay locked my account AFTER selling some stuff saying I had to update my account. I refused to give my private information. I called eBay and of course I was tossed around from one person to another. I asked them why PayPal doesn’t ask you that kind of private information they allow you to use your bank card like a credit card and do two small deposits with one withdrawal to verify. If you are a business they only require your EIN number. Never do they ask you for your private information. Brittany from eBay the last woman I was talking to said well PayPal is a Financial company and a eBay is a market place. Ok so that supposed to make me feel comfortable giving Them my private information? That is supposed to tell me it’s Secure to do so? I had to ship the stuff I sold to the people because I’m not a jerk but eBay won’t give me my money. I told Britney I was deleting my account she sent me the link. Once I know the people received what they purchased ( because I’m honest) and want to make sure they got it even though it cost me money. I WAS a victim of fraud twice. My SS# was stolen and it ended up freezing my tax returns and the second time I had my bank account drained. I was told by the police to NEVER give your SS # out other than in person and never give your routing # out unless it’s in person or a government site which have very high security and Only if you need to exp: direct deposit tax return. I have never given it out since. There is NO good reason eBay needs that. They have documentation they took the sales tax out. Personally I think anyone that got ripped off by eBay and they will not give them their money back need to get together and sue eBay.

the buyer can still pay with PayPal. who now pays Paypal. does ebay or the seller? or does the seller pay both??

It will come to a point that when you are "invited" you will HAVE to join. You can hold off after the invite and they will give you more warning messages and you can keep ignoring them and continue to sell UNTIL - BOINK! You hit a wall...they (eBay) locks you out of selling anything until you "accept" their invitation to MP! Isn't that just marvy???
It will eventually come to a point where you join or you simply cannot sell here.
Sorry but that's the way it is...or will soon be for you.

Hello @mam98031 The registration address is the one we need to match your bank info when you register for managed payments. If you update this information during the registration process it will update the 'Address' on file for the registered address at that time as well, which is what @hurryagain was seeing on their 'Addresses' page.
There seems to be confusion on what this page is saying though. Your registered address is the address we verify you with and the e-mail provided there will be where we contact you when we send any account notices. This is what is meant by "contact address". The registration address information is considered the contact address, they aren't two different things.
OK now that is a bit different than I've been told before so just for clarity if the address on the Bank account is a PO box and the registered address in Ebay is that same PO box, then that is OK?
So having a PO box as your Registered address is OK as long as it matches your address on your bank account?
@mam98031 that is a good question. Sellers must provide a physical address for managed payments. A PO Box will not be accepted.

Hi @loveyourimagination49 & @hurryagain I appreciate the feedback. Currently, we do require a physical address for managed payments and the address on file has to match the bank account information. I will pass along your concerns to the appropriate team.

And what if my bank account info is my PO box, like it is, like my driver's license is and everything else is?
Do I need to stop selling? Should I put a notice to my customers on my listings that I will not be able to sell here for the foreseeable future? Hopefully I will be able to return? I have already sold a few things and have others in auction ending very soon. Do I stop and cancel everything? What happens if I cannot get paid? I cannot sell and not get compensated with the proceeds of the sale - I just can't. I have ALWAYS reported my sales for tax purposes so that is not at issue for me.
Please advise me as to how to proceed in regards to selling (or not selling) here.
Thank you for your time on this matter.

Maybe I could get your thoughts as to what you would do if this was your situation. Would you stop selling until (if) things were straightened out?
I would just like to get your view.
Thanks!

I guess I am part of the "herd." I'm looking for an different outlet to sell my things. I am not a business either and only sell on ebay on and off. I was forced to sign up for MP and I'm really not happy about it. Didn't like giving them my ss# but did it despite my reservations. I did open a dedicated bank account just for ebay though, but still. What site do you use as an alternative to ebay if you don't mind telling? Thank you

So be it. Its been a good long haul selling since ebay started and all things come to an end. Guess I'll sell my stock in them as they are heading down a slippery slope.

Well call me CONFUSED. This post says this while the one right above it from the same payments_team@ebay tag says this:

Yes you are. There are no personal transactions on Ebay nor have there ever been. They are all business transactions. To be a business you do not have to be a corporation or something. Most sellers are likely Sole Proprietors, which doesn't require a legal entity set up with IRS.
And most of us are required to claim our sales on our federal income tax forms too. There is no minimum amount for that anymore. They changed that years ago.
Likely if you go to any of the sites similar to Ebay, they all have their own money processing programs too. So unless you go to a much smaller site, you aren't going to escape it.

My take away is that you need to change your address on your bank account and then update your Ebay account with the same PHYSICAL address you put on your bank account.
I've always been told and I've seen other Ebay Employees tell other sellers that PO boxes are not allowed period. And IMHO that is due to Anti Money Laundering laws. They have to know where you are and a PO box simply doesn't tell them that. With a PO box you could actually be located anywhere.
Where we have an issue here is they are now saying that your Ebay account address has to match your Checking account address but if your checking account address is a PO box the first part of this sentence doesn't apply.
My guess is that your address has to match your bank account address however your bank account address has to be a physical address as a physical address is required. I'm getting dizzy!!

@mam98031, I was actually asking @mrdutch1001 a question about what small site they were using but thanks anyway.
I've looked into poshmark and etsy but am wondering what other sites people are using. Instagram seems too labor intensive with constantly having to answer questions since you can only post one photo per post...
