How do you shut off auto pay so when an auction ends it automatically charges you and closes the sale?
AT times I bid on multiple items from one seller and if I am successful on two or more items I would like the opportunity to save on shipping and have the seller invoice me for multiple items at once. Lately they assign a payment method to the auction and it closes and takes your money as soon as you are declared the winner??
Please help? Thanks

eBay implemented the "auto-pay" option for some sellers without notifying the sellers. The option to turn it off is somewhat hidden. Here's how to turn it off:
Hi (seller name) > Account Settings > Selling - Selling Preferences > Your buyers - click on Edit > scroll down to bottom to see Buyer Payment Requirements. Uncheck one or both boxes. Click on Submit.

^^^ This is a feature for the seller to 'shut off'... a buyer can't do anything about it. Contact your seller. Good luck.

The "auto-pay" option/feature is controlled and administered by the individual sellers. Some have implemented the option and some have not.
So, to answer your question, you need to contact the seller to either
a) Prepare a special listing for you and the items you want.
b) ask whether the seller will "refund" the combined shipping difference.
I am not positive about this:
I 'think' there is an option for the seller to "exclude" specific buyers from their pre-pay reuirements...
I am not sure if that applies to this though....

So why do buyers not have an option to turn it off?????????? Makes no sense please help. I do not mind it for offers but NOT for auctions b/c I bod on several actions from 1 seller and DO NOT want to get chrged full shipping on more than one item if seller says he combines shipping.

My same concern. This is total non-sense.

Yep, I'm boycotting eBay until they fix this. I'm bidding on 43 items currently, but now that I need to setup autopay to raise my bids or bid on anything new, I'm out. More often than not I buy multiple things from a seller for combined shipping, some of the sellers I regularly buy from allow up to three weeks to pay as they prefer to combine shipping. If I am charged immediately, they will ship the item without waiting for the other items I want to end.
I've been on eBay for 24 years, looks like I won't make it to 25.

Same concern. I've bid on items from Japan spread out over a week. They are having to ship them two or three at a time since they are auto-paid. Used to be that they could wait and invoice me and ship all together. Can't afford the shipping cost to split them all up like this.

eBay's Automatic Payment for Auctions and Offers
eBay's automatic payment feature for auctions and offers is a convenient way to ensure that you pay for the items you win or purchase. When you enable automatic payment, eBay will automatically charge your preferred payment method for the total amount of the item, plus shipping and taxes, as soon as the auction ends or you accept the offer.
This feature can be especially helpful if you are bidding on multiple items at the same time or if you are purchasing an item that is in high demand. It can also help you to avoid missing out on an item because you forgot to pay for it.
How automatic payment works for auctions:
If you win an auction, eBay will automatically charge your preferred payment method for the total amount of the item, plus shipping and taxes, as soon as the auction ends.
If you are the high bidder on an auction, but the seller does not accept your bid, eBay will not charge you for the item.
How automatic payment works for offers:
If you accept an offer on an item, eBay will automatically charge your preferred payment method for the total amount of the item, plus shipping and taxes.
If you decline an offer, eBay will not charge you for the item.
Benefits of using automatic payment:
There are a number of benefits to using automatic payment for auctions and offers:

As a seller this is becoming a real issue for me over the past few months. I am having multiple people upset every time I have several hundred to a thousand+ auctions end. They are being charged (unbeknownst to them) and then confused and mad that I am packing up their paid orders and not waiting. There is no option for me, the seller, to turn it off (that I can see) and it only affects a small number of buyers (2% or so it seems like). It may not sound like a lot but when I am packing up hundreds of orders it becomes very problematic for me to stop what I'm doing and try to explain to them what happened. In some cases they're really upset and I end up refunding them the difference they should have saved just to make them happy, and that comes out of my own pocket.

You can turn off this option. Look for the best answer of this discussion to see how.

I wrote this up regarding the very same issue...yes it is a long post, and I'm sorry but I did not separate paragraphs. However, my whole point (if you actually read it), is to get more people on board, so if you want it to change, then spread the word .

I don't have the option of auto-pay after an auction. I have to send an invoice, where in the past it was not necessary. The shipping amount is blank so I have to figure the shipping before sending the invoice. This has only recently happened.
