Ebay dropping Paypal

At the beginning, Ebay says it’s moving from PayPal to Adyen in order to “improve its customer experience” by intermediating payments on its marketplace. The article mostly mentions SELLERS not customers or what the customers thought. I had always been extremely happy with PayPal and their securities measures and was why I had stayed with Ebay. I appreciated having PayPal as an extra firewall barrier protecting my bank account, I could always depend on PayPal if I had any problems or concerns. What new security measures did Ebay implement to protect its customers, NONE!  Linking bank account directly to Ebay just made it easier for thieves to get into the account now. Because of Ebay's lack of concern for their customers, I've done less business with them since this mess started.  I've had more problems with sellers who refuse to sell to Alaskans because we're not connected to the US. I know it's the businesses right to refuse service but that's just discrimination to the fullest and I'm surprised Ebay backs them up.

This is a non-issue for buyers. You can still purchase with PayPal... I do it all the time. Since you're not selling, you don't have to sign up for Managed Payments.

I've had my checking account connected to Ebay since 2011 and haven't had any problems.

As far as shipping to Alaska, some sellers won't do it because it could take to long to get there.

Have a great day.

If you are buying only, there should be no change at all to the way you make purchases.  Rest assured you can still use your PayPal the same as before.

I am not sure why you do not feel protected as a buyer with eBay.  If any problems arise, you have the eBay Money Back Guarantee.  Most of the eBay policies are heavily favored towards buyers.

You have a nice record of leaving great feedback.  You are the type of buyer I like to see bidding on my items.

Best of luck to you.

with the united states ostal service doing flat rate shipping to all 50 states there is "ABSOLUTLY NO REASON FOR THIS"    just as easy, and the same cost.    it is discrimination.

The United States Postal Service has restrictions on size for all of their flat rate shipping. There are also restrictions on class of service to Alaska.

There is a BIG difference between sending a small 4" figurine vs sending a vacuum cleaner to, or from Alaska.

Sellers are not discriminating - they are operating a business and they have the ability to restrict service to locations they do not wish to ship to because of limitations and regulations AND cost.

The information about eBay's move from Paypal to Adyen only mentions sellers because this change has no impact on buyers, who can still pay with Paypal.

Flat rate shipping is really only a viable option for items that are heavy, not ones that are lightweight. Why would anyone pay $14.25 for a shipping in a Medium Flat Rate box for an item that may be large but that weighs less than a pound and so would cost around $6-7 to ship via First Class mail?

I've had more problems with sellers who refuse to sell to Alaskans because we're not connected to the US.

Sellers can also Block Hawai'i and territories like Puerto Rico.

The shipping cost to those destinations is higher than to the lower 48 states.

We Canadian sellers can ship to Alaska at the same rate as to California. Try buying from us!

One possible advantage for buyers of the Managed Payments system, which has been slowly introduced starting in 2016, is that registering for it is a little more difficult than it was for Paypal.

The possible advantage may be fewer hijacked and otherwise fraudulent accounts.

Another is that Managed Payments allows buyers to pay with ApplePay and GooglePay as well as Paypal and various credit cards.

i live in alaska, we understand large items may not be able to be shipped. (but many items that can and will fit into a flat rate box, there is no reason they cannot sell them to us up here or in hawaii.

Agree whole heartedly bling fling 123. The difference is only boughten small stuff--Jewelry and despite what you think, we are discriminated here. Have contacted the sellers, only to be told we're not part of the United States, because we're not connected. We are the 49th state. No problem paying a little more for shipping, but some people are just ignorant about their history.
