Why do I suddenly have to verify my identity with every purchase?

Can you explain under what circumstances or what message you get when trying to purchase?   eBay has never been known to verify any buyer at all unless it is in certain categories involving bullion or high dollar coins.  What sort of information are you asked to provide?  Have  screen shot of he actual message so we can look at it?  

 Every purchase? Are you by chance using a VPN?

Its an interstitial dialog that pops up, and asks to send me a text with a PIN.

Just buying whatever...a pack of wire for 23 bucks...a guitar pedal for 22...

I sell - have a store - and buy a lot...

That does not sound right at all, are you sure the message is not because of your bank?

I purchased something the other day and the security on my card had obviously been upgraded and the website I was purchasing from required me to enter a PIN that was generated and sent to me via sms by my bank so they could confirm it was me using the card.....just a thought.

This is happening to me too, even with ten dollar purchases. They also won’t let me use my spendable funds.

I seem to be able to use Spendable Funds - but not without confirming my identity.

I might buy something else this morning to see if its still happening.

There is a place where, once it's check marked, or even NOT check marked to 'opt out' of a "2nd Form of Identity"- it's there forever.
