Accessing old messages

Really struggling with finding a customer service option for this so hope someone can help. I am looking for some information in an old correspondance (programming info to help with additional buying of same item) but cannot find messages that far back in time. How does one access old messages?

Hi, you can try checking the archive in your eBay inbox, but it only goes back 6 months or so. If it's been longer than that, you might be able to find it using a keyword search in the email associated with your eBay account (if you are like me and never delete anything).

Makes no sense why messages only go back 6 months? Are they running commodore 64s for their servers?? Almost every major website stores messages forever. It's particularly more important for ebay where people buy old/vintage stuff. These things need replacing every few years but you can't find out any older message history.
