@valcatbear,

There is absolutely No Way eBay can enter a bid for you, that is higher than the amount you bid.

Your topic is a little sparce on details, but it is very likely when you bid, you misplaced a decimal point and/or added 1 too many numbers.

Example;  You meant to bid  $20.00, but it was actually entered as $200.00

This sort of thing happens often, especially if someone finds an auction that is close to ending and bids fast.  It also happens when phones are used because of the keypad and small screen.  There is a confirm bid page that opens before a bid is entered but it can be misread if one is in a hurry or the screen is a small one.

I tend to agree with MudShark.  Of course, there is the possibility that someone using your account bid on the item.  However, that would mean that you didn't secure your account and password as well as you should have done.  You should probably change your password just in case.  However, it is most likely as mudshark has described.

Did you bid on the item?

Contact the seller and ask that your bid be cancelled.

Since he has no chance of you paying, he should be willing to do so "At Buyer Request".

This is a no-fault option for both of you.

He will probably also add you to his Blocked Bidder List.

He can then make a Second Chance Offer to the underbidder while the auction is still hot.

Unfortunately, since the OP has won the auction the bid cannot be canceled.  However, requesting a cancellation of the transaction may be in order.
