Annoying Feedback Advertising A Sellers Business. Anyone else.

Yesterday I purchased a pair of pants from an ebay seller. I paid, plain and simple. Then I go and look at my feedback received, and here is this totally annoying feedback that had been left for me

(♥).•*´¨`*•♥•(・・)MORE AWESOME FINDS @ XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.COM•(♥).•*´¨`*•♥•(・・)

Sellers name removed by me. Does anyone find this irritating. It is an advertisement for the seller's business, and has nothing to do with the transaction. Sorry, just venting, but proper feedback is appreciated.   This seller does this for every sale she makes.

Whether a buyer or seller it is a feedback...and positive.

I guess some buyers are real sensitive to a feedback...even if it's positive.

@12345jamesstamps   Sensitive NO.  Ethical yes. Feedback is about the transaction..NOT someone elses business. Hope you underwhat I am saying. It isn’t complicated.👏👏👏

I'm curious @myfrugalboutique -

Would it have bothered you less if the seller's feedback was "thank you for shopping with *seller ID*?"

I think I am going to mention it to the seller, because my “space” on eBay is not for another seller to advertise.

Maybe you could charge them rent for advertising in your "space".

I personally wouldn't even notice it since I never check my feedback received.

That’s great that it doesn’t seem to be a problem for you. I didn’t appreciate it, and now it is gone.

Hats off to you for getting the reps to do what you wanted, since it was troubling you so.    I personally don't have any problem with a seller doing that and have seen it before.  I wouldn't be very happy, though,  about the comment being removed since my imagination looking at that automatically thinks they said something nasty about you which wasn't allowed.   The only positive I wouldn't appreciate is one with a political rant embedded within the comment.

The ones that annoy me @fern*wood  are political and religious comments. Even so, I usually just roll my eyes then move on. I can't see getting all worked up over it. There are better ways to waste my time.

It's also annoying when I make a purchase and the seller puts religious or political pamphlets in my package. They go straight in the recycle bin and the seller does not get FB from me.

Although this one time someone put 4 religious pamphlets in my package and I did leave pos FB and said something like, "Item as described, thanks. Would have preferred to not receive several religious pamphlets in the package." That seller went off on me in a FB reply and told me I was going to Hell. Is it bad that made me laugh? 😈 I did not ask eBay to remove it because I wanted it stuck on that seller's FB profile for their potential buyers to see.

When packing there used to be only one thing that I avoided in case some took offence. I scrunch up newspapers to fill in parcels so I took care not to include any "page 3's". Here in the UK the national newspaper The Sun always had on its page three a topless woman.

Re: Annoying Feedback Advertising A Sellers Business. Anyone else.

I agree that it is inappropriate.  I guess I'm old school - I think the feedback should be about the person receiving it, not the person giving it.

That said, you could always leave the seller some of the same.  Promote yourself, rather than give "feedback".  Just for this seller.  Then go back to leaving actual feedback.

Feedback = feedback.  Self promotion is something else, not feedback.  Like others have said, I suppose anything that counts as positive is good, but the comment is absolutely worthless to anybody at all.  I don't think it even brings in business to the seller to have self-promotion in the comment.  Who is going to go to that site just because of a feedback comment they left?  Who is going to see it, or care to visit them because of that?  They'd have been better served, in my opinion, to leave a canned "thank you" response.

Bad?   If so I guess we're both bad then.  And going to Hell.

Decided to call eBay as to me this should not be allowed. The representative said she would report it, and have the feedback left for me removed. Additionally I was told this seller had been reported also for sending packages with all kinds of advertising on them..stickers with her eBay name , etc. that apparently is not allowed.

There is absolutely no such policy.  Why would eBay prohibit sellers from encouraging buyers to come back and shop again?  It's not like sellers don't have to pay eBay fees for returning buyers.

Hi @myfrugalboutique

It looks like the positive rating was removed along with the advertising.  That’s odd.

As to your question:  I have what many would consider an irrational dislike for most forms of advertising.  I’ve always thought it looked dumb and silly for designers to put their logos all over handbags and polos  … and would never buy or wear one.  [I  replace the free, license plate holder with the car dealership name on it after buying a car.]

It’s annoyed me when eBay sellers gave me similar feedback to yours … but not enough to go through the trouble to request removal, as I only have to look at it once.

@house*of*paws

I have some nice designer items, but nothing much with a logo. A couple of LV purses, and a Prada, but they just blend in.

‘’It wasn’t a bunch of work to get it removed. Took 5 minutes. Actually I am sorry I posted here are there are those who get great pleasure in berating others because they feel a certain way.
This is a copy and paste from eBay about what feedback is “ Feedback is an opportunity to share your experience with other members of the eBay community. As a buyer, you can leave a comment or upload images of your item. As a seller, you might want to thank a customer for their purchase or reply to their feedback.“

IMHO this seller did not do that. It was used to advertise her business.

@myfrugalboutique

Do you know why the entire feedback was removed?  It's the first time I've known that to happen when a member requests removal of the comment.  Usually, the old comment is replaced with 'dashes' (---).  You should NOT have lost the positive feedback.

[And, yes ... I consider it an advertisement as well.]

@house*of*paws

I have no idea ..however IMHO it doesn’t meet requirements for feedback.  Take a buyer with very low feedback…just a new buyer.

That person  is at a disadvantage trying to build a good reputation  and some seller gives her a positive (which as we know that is all you can leave)…that is an advertisement …that doesn’t help that new person at all.

Yup that's exactly what I do in feedbacks. "Thank you so much for your purchase from Gurlcat's Wurld!"
I hope this reply didn't offend anyone, if so I apologize ever so deeply.
