Java error using Chrome and attempting to simply print a label for shipping

Last night one sale occurred and got paid.  Went to purchase postage, and print the label.  Seems easy but once I purchased the postage, an error came up on the screen Java error and there was nothing but that in the little window that usually shows the label information.  this happened using Chrome.  I attempted to go to Java get updates and then I had the problem of updates and getting rid of old java's. This morning I uninstalled the old java and got the new one installed java 8 update 25 and did that and then went back to print label and still error.

I came to work today and attempted to print a label for another sale that was paid this morning and I use Chrome here at work and the same error occurred.  I did call customer support and they did ask me to attempt to print label with another browser and for IE I did see a java spinning wheel at the screen that comes with printing label and then I did see the information that shows the shipping to and from  and I was able to print from there.  I do think the problem is either with Chrome or with Ebay.  I want others to know about this and I would like others to feedback soluions to this problem if you know of other ways around this.

I would like the Fall and day after thanksgiving to go well and I do not want problems printing labels.  Fact is I will have to purchase postage at P.O. today for previous shipment  because the other shipping was voided and I will have to wait for reimbursement of that postage purchase.  I will not get the discount and I am paying a significant amount for shipment.  Good luck all.

Re: Java error using Chrome and attempting to simply print a label for shipping

Had a sale and was able to get the label through Internet explorer but I will have to get the label to print page 2 and other issues. I was not successful with Chrome and so I will be attempting other browsers soon. thank you very much for the site and I did many attempts to fix the problem but to no avail yet. I will keep communicating and still trying other things. I thought the list of 100 servers was going to solve the problem but this is still a problem to be addressed. I am thinking about replacing the printer to see if that will help because I have had problems with the current and I am getting a laser printer instead of the inkjet cannon soon. Take care and good luck all.

Re: Java error using Chrome and attempting to simply print a label for shipping

The Java fix, and for that matter Java itself, is only used for thermal label printers.  If you have an inkjet or laser, something else is wrong, and you should not be getting any Java errors, possibly Javascript errors, but that is something entirely different.

What OS, Browser, and Printer model are you using?

Have you tried a different browser?  Firefox works great.

Have you updated your Adobe?

I uninstalled ALL older versions and reinstalled Java 8 and have had no problems since.

Re: Java error using Chrome and attempting to simply print a label for shipping

The browser is Chrome and that is where I had the error.  The printer is an all in one Canon MX 452.  I am not sure which chrome version I have but I have attempted to install java 8 number 25 and that has not been successful yet.  the printer named above is an inkjet and the hard thing is that the only time I have trouble is with the labels.  The labels that I use are very large and there are 2 labels per page.

In the past when all was going well, I would click on print label and there would be all of the information about the label on the screen.  that was before I started having trouble with the java error covering that little small screen that you can only see once you make the purchase of the postage.  I hope that helps out to understand where this error is occurring.  Once I clicked on print label, I would get a another screen and would click on "Print Using system dialog box.... Control+shift+p)  when I get the system dialog box, I would click on page set up folder, change the size of the paper to 8.5" by 5.5" using custom page size.  I would then apply these changes and select print.

When I was doing it that way, 3 pages would go to the printer, the first being the label and that appeared on one of the two labels, page two would be the record that  I keep which has item, payee, shipping, insurance, mailing address, etc. information.  Page 3 was always and empty piece of paper and I would just use that piece of paper again.  I was lying to the printer so that the printer did what I needed at that time and I just wanted the labels to print out.  On the international I would put the printing straight forward because the international ones always took one page and I only have a few of them each month for the most part.  I think I have answered your questions as far as what you have asked I believe and I will post this for now.

Re: Java error using Chrome and attempting to simply print a label for shipping

I guess go to control panel delete program from the panel and get rid of all information about java. I will try that. I will not have a label until tomorrow maybe based on bidding and when the sale ends I think. Thank you very much. I have attempted to use another inkjet printer and that one also gave trouble so I have attempted that.

Re: Java error using Chrome and attempting to simply print a label for shipping

I think it may be my computer because I uninstalled the old versions, installed jave 8 update 25 and that is done successful as the screen says but when i verify the java the error on the screen is "java is required to display content" up top the page is plug in message and when i click on install plug-in the screen changes to install version 8 update 25 so the install was not successful. I will seek solving this now because I think that is the problem now. That must be why I am having this trouble. I will print a label now but the only way I know to do it is through Internet explorer for sure. I will attempt to put firefox in because someone had suggessted that earlier.

Re: Java error using Chrome and attempting to simply print a label for shipping

Turn off your pop up blocker. Watch the top right hand corner of the little box that comes up. You should see a pop up being blocked. Click on the icon and click the option of always opening that screen. That should stop it. As far as uninstalling everything you could go to the control panel and uninstall Chrome and java and then reinstall the latest versions; however, I think it may be the pop up blocker. I'd be interested to know if that works for you

Re: Java error using Chrome and attempting to simply print a label for shipping

Ok I will try that tonight and attempt to reprint one of the labels that I did last night. I will be able to check that in 12 or 13 hours from now. Thank you very much.

Re: Java error using Chrome and attempting to simply print a label for shipping

Something wrong here.   Java is NOT used when printing to your Canon.  If you are seeing a Java screen pop up then you have the printer and label format incorrectly selected.  You need to check this setting.  From the shipping label screen, click on the Printer and Receipt Preferences at the upper right and reselect Laser/Inkjet/Plain Paper.

What OS are you using?

Re: Java error using Chrome and attempting to simply print a label for shipping

Windows 7 64 bit. I am making steps to re install operating system if I have to do that because I have not done that for several years. as of now I bought a SSD with 240gb this morning and may do this task this weekend if I have to do that. I think putting in a fresh system and getting nececessary java and windows updates may solve the problem if the problem is with the registry of the system and finding files correctly.

Re: Java error using Chrome and attempting to simply print a label for shipping

Your W7 should be fine if you have kept it updated.  Get a registry cleaner if you think that is causing slow down your machine or causing problems.

Again the Java Runtime has nothing to do with printing labels unless you are using a thermal label printer format.  Regardless you should on ever have one installed.  Manually uninstall any old ones from the Control Panel.

Printing to your Canon uses your Browser's PDF reader plugin.  If Adobe, make sure that is up to date and always update it after any browser update.

I think the label uses pitney bowes something I think. It appears like a picture in the window and I may do a printscreen tonight of the window I see when the error occurs.
