Java error using Chrome and attempting to simply print a label for shipping

Last night one sale occurred and got paid.  Went to purchase postage, and print the label.  Seems easy but once I purchased the postage, an error came up on the screen Java error and there was nothing but that in the little window that usually shows the label information.  this happened using Chrome.  I attempted to go to Java get updates and then I had the problem of updates and getting rid of old java's. This morning I uninstalled the old java and got the new one installed java 8 update 25 and did that and then went back to print label and still error.

I came to work today and attempted to print a label for another sale that was paid this morning and I use Chrome here at work and the same error occurred.  I did call customer support and they did ask me to attempt to print label with another browser and for IE I did see a java spinning wheel at the screen that comes with printing label and then I did see the information that shows the shipping to and from  and I was able to print from there.  I do think the problem is either with Chrome or with Ebay.  I want others to know about this and I would like others to feedback soluions to this problem if you know of other ways around this.

I would like the Fall and day after thanksgiving to go well and I do not want problems printing labels.  Fact is I will have to purchase postage at P.O. today for previous shipment  because the other shipping was voided and I will have to wait for reimbursement of that postage purchase.  I will not get the discount and I am paying a significant amount for shipment.  Good luck all.

Yes if you post a screen shot I can usually tell what's wrong.

What about a thermal printer and getting something like that instead of just a normal printer that prints up regular pieces of paper either Letter format or Landscape in manner?  I see there are some printers out there that do print up the labels that I do need and help businesses.  I have not ever tried that before.  I do see zebra as a brand that is printed out and that could work also.  Some thermal printers have connectivity through ethernet but I think there is only one port for ethernet on my computer and that is used for the router and the internet so I think I will have to choose a printer that connects through usb or bluetooth, etc.  Do many of you use the thermal printers to print labels?

I like using the printer because I do get the second page for shippings that contains some of the information about the sale and I use that when I type in the accounting for the sale, etc. if you know what I mean.

I am now a watcher for the following types of thermal printers and they are:

Dymo Label Tag Labelwriter 4Xl 4" X 6" Printer And Tag Thermal Print Technology

Addmaster IJ6080 Label Inkjet Printer

Intermec PF8t Thermal Direct or Transfer Label Printer PF8TA03101100 Ethernet

New Sealed Brother QL-710W Direct Thermal Printer - Monochrome Desktop - Label

I like how the print out of the dymo label Tag machine does, it looks very good in how the information is printed onto the label.  The other option I have is to always print the sales record for each sale and save that for the books.  I make it a two step process for recording the information about the sale onto the 2nd piece of paper and I physically write in the sale number, date of sale, Collected, Paypal fee, Net, Etc.  I have a excel program that prints the boxes with titles at the lower empty area of the page which has the shipping information on it and I just reprint on the sheet of paper.  I guess if I print up from the sales record, I will save myself writing on every sheet of paper for every sale.

Thanks for everyones help and I am open to suggestion.  I have to return to work and will do more to solve this problem tonight.

The smaller Dymo 450 ($69 free ship) is great for USPS, the larger Dymo 4XL ($129 free ship) is great for USPS, FedEx, UPS and if you use the River or Betsy.

For these printer you will need to have the Java Runtime for eBay (single labels), or for PayPal.  Other sites do not require Java.  Thermal label printers are great, even for small shippers, plus they free up your regular printer for other things.

There is no reason to waste time and money printing out the label receipts or keeping copies of packing lists or invoices.  All of this is available online.  PayPal keeps the information for years, and you can export it for easy use with Excel or an accounting program.  eBay also provides reports directly if you turn them on.

I just like to have the sale in writing for so many years for my record and I use that sheet of paper when i type in the sale into quickbooks. I have only operated 2nd year now and I do not keep up on the books as well right now but will get up to date soon. if you know what I mean. What do you mean "if you use the River or Betsy"?

I use USPS 99% of the time. i have only used UPS maybe 12 times in 1200 sales since we started I think.

Thank you for your suggestion on the smaller dymo 450.

If you use QuickBooks, you can just import your history into it from PayPal.  eBay or PayPal reports can also be printed out or emailed to you at regular intervals.

Another thing that works well is to archive the confirmation emails from eBay or PayPal.  Then they are easily searched if you need to find something.

Yes, the little Dymo works great for USPS using the 99019 labels (2.3" x 7.5").  Then just use your regular printer for the occasional UPS or FedEx shipment.

You know, the big river with an A or your aunt without a B.

This is a look at the screen when the label does ok when I use Internet explorer though.  This does load something with Java and I see a Java Wheel spinning around when the computer is working generating the label that I need in order to mail the item to.  Thank you very much for all of this help and support

Little....................The problem is clear.   You do not have eBay Shipping set to use the proper format for your Canon printer.  You may have the Target Printer set to your Canon, but you do not have the label format set properly for your Canon.

When you create another label, and before you print it, on the eBay Shipping page in the upper right click on Printer and Receipt Preferences.  In the next window select and save the first option "Any laser or inkjet printer (8 1/2" x 11")". This will fix your problem.

correct the preferences were not set to any laser... 8 1/2X11...  The format was set to Zebra something and so I did do that.

I next attempted to print another label using reprint but the java error still occurred.  I can also try Internet explorer now.  With internet explorer I have to select the printer and also the other screen that I showed you the last time.  The computer never saves or remembers what printer to send to for some reason

No you can not reprint a label that was previously created with a different format.  You must start with a new label with the correct fromat from the start.

How do you get the information from paypal. Every time I try to find out anything on shipping I get a screen that says no information. Same thing for tax forms.
As far as the Java/Printer thing; I had the same thing happen (the above screen shot of the puzzle pc) but I was printing from PayPal for my other website. All I had to do was uninstall older versions, install the new version, and turn off the pop up blocker. I haven't had a problem since

Be aware it takes the postal service awhile sometimes to refund postage. Did you fix the problem? Mine started when my epson died and my husband bought an HP (UGH). I didn't have a problem until then.

I think a payment will come through for a sale maybe tonight or tomorrow and I will know then if the setting of zebra... was causing the problem. Thanks for all of the advice. I will be getting a laser printer used in the next day or so and that may help out. It is an HP but a laser printer will last longer on ink then the cartridges I use for the inkjet printer. I have had many inkjet printers and I do run out of ink a lot for them.

mro.............yes there should be only one version on Java on your machine.  New updates should delete the previous one, but older versions and updates did not do this, so you had to do it manually.  You may or may not run into security issues, but if you do, use the link in one of my previous posts to fix the problem, there is also a link there to get rid of the request to print pop up.

In PayPal go to your account History tab, and click on Download History, then select the date range and format to export.  There is a format specifically for Quick Books, Excel, etc.  Create a new cash account in QB, select it, and import the file into it.  You then can sort and subtotal as needed.  Be aware PayPal sometimes adds and subtracts categories, and sometimes you will need to move a couple of line items here and there to a different category.
